I was hanging out at the bowl railing during a warm up when Bryce Wettstein popped up and said to me "This is so fun!" And I got to say hello to Grayson Fletcher as he walked by me. I had a great time as a fan and I saw many kids who were totally stoked to be there.

Yeah! We love it when you cover the contest. And it’s pretty cool (low key) that you know these professionals & talk candidly with them & see them all destroy the place. So, yes! Cover more of these contest. And if you can, you think could do a candid day with Greyson? Just skate with him while documenting it. I mean, his entire family are professional surfers. His dad, Herbie, is a longboarder known for his “side slip boogie”. He some how rides his longboard sideways. His oldest brother, Christian is the one of the pioneers doing huge frontside air on wave, & then his other older brother Nathan is still charging on huge gigantic surf while doing some huge frontside airs on decent size waves in Hawaii. I know more about them than I know about Greyson. Other than he charges hard on a skateboard. It would be cool you two talking shit & skating. Kind of like what you did with the other pros at the street contest side.

I enjoy this type of event far more than the events we normally see. It’s looser and much more fun and there are more tricks and styles being shown vs how strict everything is at a typical competition.

I feel like park/bowl skating never became stale. Street skating has kinda started to become stale though, like you said, not many new things are getting done, especially in street contest's. It's just crazy satisfying to watch someone flow around a bowl, seeing that control and risk taking is awesome. Only street events that really hype me up is thrasher ones.

Ive always loved watching transition Idk if id call it the return but glad its becoming popular. My first experience skating after bombing hills was in a half pipe with no flat in the 80s after meeting some kids while riding my bike down an alley. Then we went on to ride in pools. There was a public pool theyd actually empty to let us ride in we all got pretty good able to just barely able to get all the wheels out of the pool which was insane for us then. Then I moved to bfe with my family and flatground was all I could do then eventually street and ramps but other than stopping at a few parks here and there I never really got to ride transition again. Really considering doing an rv trip with the kids to head to a place where thats possible for a while or maybe even moving if they like it.

I feel like the snobbery aspect of skateboarding that started in the 00's is ending, and the vibe and energy of 90's skating is returning. A lot more skaters going huge now, a lot more vibing between the style of skateboarding. Rockstar made a good decision running the contest like they did.
