I didn’t have my father growing up. He left my mother with 4 kids. I am the youngest of 4. I needed a father figure my whole life. I had so many questions about life growing up. Zero guidance from a father. I’m currently 30, and have a little 3 year old girl. I don’t understand how my father left us. I can’t even leave my daughter 2 minutes alone without missing her. She’s seriously the most beautiful thing my eyes have ever seen. And all I ever want is just to be there for her and remind her to follow her dreams and that she will never be alone. She will never have to worry about anything. MR. Russel. Thank you sir, for raising such a fine respectful man. Proud of you sir. This video made me tear 😢up in the best way. I love being a dad. Mr. Russells support of his son and his endeavors in life is legendary. It is the very definition of what a father is and should be. He is right there, through thick and thin, shouting encouragement in the face of adversity. Helping his son push the very limits of his capabilities, transcending them and breaking through into larger and bigger things. Progressing, evolving and all the while shaping and forming. Teaching through action and words and love, how to father and foster growth, maturity and love. While not as religious or vocal, my father was the same way. And, when I realized I had hit a wall in skateboarding and progressed as much as I could, both physically and mentally, he did what any father would do. He helped me define what it was that I wanted to do in life and did everything he could to make sure that was something I would become capable of accomplishing. To this day, I have very vivid memories of my dad, who was deaf, hooting and clapping when I landed a trick I had been battling with for hours. Those are memories that will last my entire life. Tomorrow is the third anniversary of his passing, and this video made me smile. It reminded me of him, and it made me realize that Dads like that, like Mr. Russell, in themselves, are one of the biggest blessings anyone could receive. Thanks, Thrasher. You folks are the best.
