The very interesting thing on this camera is that if the battery are down the camera doesn't work, shutter will be blocked and the mirror will stay up. It will be necessary to reset the camera with the reset button and rotate the shutter ring on B pose. Replace the battery and go... It is very strange on a mechanic camera... on the first time I was surprise about this function.

Would the camera still not work if, after following the reset procedures you mentioned, you set it to 'manual' (rather than 'auto') effectively making it an OM1? Just a thought....

The OM-1 is an all-mechanical camera. The OM-2 is not. It has an electronically-driven shutter curtain.

Only downside is battery drain. Even when off drains. Otherwise fabulous camera.

the OM2 isn't one the OM with the battery drain issue its possible yours needs a check/service and always use SR44 in these cameras not LR44 ...my OM2 batteries normally last about 6 months and I do shoot it a fair bit
