I for once certainly wouldn't be able to conjure up bizarre, slightly recognizable but totally uncanny imagery like in Fide Night at Fready's Sedys. Personally, I think the AI use here is 100% justified. As an artist who would almost certainly be affected by it, I believe that AI can be a valuable tool to help get creative works off the ground. The issue is that since AI is a relatively new development, it's use is largely unregulated, and therefore, a lot of bad actors are attempting to exploit this lack of regulation while they still can so they can make some quick cash to the detriment of others. Fortunately, the creator is clearly NOT doing that. In fact, he's arguably much more creative than a lot of other AI "Artists" out there. Not only does he explicitly state that he used AI for the project, which the ommition of said information is widely used as an arguement against AI, but he also states he specifically used it because it was the easiest and most accurate way for him to put his dream onto paper. After all, the imitation-based method AI uses to generate it's content is the exact same method that our brains use to create dreams, so using AI here actually creatively adds to the experience rather than subtract from it. Also, side comment, I genuinely completely forgot that before gomotion did these video essays, she specialized in doing speededits of FNAF renders, so seeing her flex her skills again in this video was a pleasant surprise.

Hello I’d just like to give my take on the whole thing. Whilst I believe your ransom Freddy image was really good (seriously well done!) I’d like to say something I think hasn’t been stated enough. I believe that the Ai vs handmade debate is a lot more nuanced. Whilst I think your edit is superior to the original image, the original image served as a basis of sorts. Do I believe AI as a whole should take over with little to no interference? NO Personally, I believe it would serve to be a point of reference for artists (design wise) to design characters like Ransombear/Ransomware Freddy, as the exaggerated features shown by the AI can be modified manually (like you did yourself in the edit) to make the image better and even more unsettling. Whilst I think your ransom Bonnie and Foxy images are brilliant, something about them doesn’t feel the same as the original end screen ransom Freddy. I’m not sure what it is. 7:42 Maybe it’s the shade and mutated stretched look of the image, or the fact that the “skin” of Freddy looks pulsating with the addition of beady looking rat eyes almost makes the image look animalistic and or human in a strange way, or the random blotches of pixelation that make the image good but that’s just me. One thing I wish you should’ve included though is the loose tooth on the right of the image, as I believe it also made the image look corrupt in a good way, to show that this bastardisation of Freddy was meant to be unsettling yet unknown to us. However, the images here 8:50 whilst also good, don’t hit me with the same punch as both your edit and the OG ransomware images. For me, Foxy’s design whilst really neat, looks too polished and or fixed up in comparison to the original ransomware Freddy, and looks more like a melted Foxy instead. Could be that the images aren’t finalised yet, but I’ll continue. His skin is seemingly lacking the pixelated low quality look of the two previous images which makes him standout more, and doesn’t have much shade or contrast on him to spookify him to the extent of Freddy. Bonnie on the other hand fits the design quite well though IMO, however he still suffers from some of the problems foxy has such as the skin etc. One change I think could make the Bonnie edit much better (which is a small detail) is giving him the same beady rat like eyes Freddy and Foxy have. I do think that Bonnie’s design could also be exaggerated more to look more elongated and bastardised much like a Freddy to make him look slightly melted, but not to the point of Foxy, who almost looks somewhat planned/designed to look weird as opposed to being corrupted. That’s just me however and I hope my take was at least good, and or reasonable.

Not to play devil's advocate(Because I'm not. I hate AI art with a passion), but: When it comes to dream-like imagery, the faults of AI make it 10x more evocative of the shifting, horrifically mangled approximation of reality that dreams are, especially when used in a digital horror context. It's hazily reminiscent of the thing you know, and what it looks like, but it's fucked up enough to notice. AI is so bad, it can actually be used like that effectively.
@SwaggyG_21026 ай бұрын
7:54 Hot take here, but I actually prefer the ai version of the fnaf ransomware ending rather than your version. Your version, while still great, doesn't carry that same amount of inhumane energy that the ai version has. I also think that your version of Sedy smiling takes away from the creep factor a bit by relying on the whole "creepy face smiling" trope in most analog horror series. The face on the other image, while smiling, looks more like it's jawless. The eyes are a very noticeable difference too.

I agree, this is just what ai is best at. We need to stop pretending that ai is best used for anything other than horror. Human hands cannot create something so eerie and barely coherent (except maybe Bosch but nobody’s really tried to emulate his depictions of hell that I know of) I wish ai didn’t have such a stigma around it so artists wouldn’t be afraid to use it like this more, it has so much more potential in the hands of real artists and not the hands of tech bros who just want more realistic ai generated waifus

Hilarious how Freddy Fazbear is already a massive animatronic robot that is very likely to rip you in half and put the pieces into an empty suit, but someway, somehow, when presented with a bootleg version of him suddenly it's five times worse because that is distinctly NOT Freddy and now I don't know WHAT the hell this thing is or wants (besides bitcoin, of course).

my dreams and nightmares give me locations, characters and events to use in my actual stories, which is cool because lots of times when i'm awake, i have the time and place to try and figure out or easily connect what inspired things! lucid dreaming in a nightmare SUCKS though, i do not recommend, it makes it a lot scarier.

I will forever defend the use of AI in this, speaking as an artist myself who would never touch AI art generators with a ten-foot pole. this shit's terrifying. honestly, it's been a while since any FNAF content has actually unsettled me. reminds me of the edited FNAF 1 gameplay in which freddy starts eerily crying after the power goes out instead of laughing menacingly. same sorta concept of altering the game just enough while keeping familiar elements. it allows the viewer to re-live the experience of being a kid on the internet discovering the series for the first time

This is probably the only time where I’d say the use of AI is in fact art here, being used to enhance the incoherent dream like fever dream AI(expecially AI video) can produce. While of course it would have been better for them to not use AI, I don’t personally blame them.

I feel like in certain contexts AI art, as much as I have a distaste for, works. I feel here it just emphasizes how uncanny and wrong this video feels, how it feels to attempt to resemble some semblance of what something preexisting and crafted by a person, but clambered together by something working on 0's and 1's. Its gibberish that loosely resembles the familiar which is a good way to describe a lot of AI art.
@bastardman81764 ай бұрын
That being said, I still think its preferable to try and attempt to create something yourself. I just find it interesting as a concept, the combination of AI and bootlegs being hybridized into some unholy Comglomorant.
