I have been on the Non O visa based on marriage to a Thai National for many years, never had a problem, of course there is a lot more paperwork involved but if you are organized it is very easy. I did my extension in November, in and out in under 30 minutes. The only real benefit on this visa is you can apply for a work permit it you require one, and also it enables you to apply for permanent residency if you so choose to. Looking forward to seeing you guys in about 5 weeks Joe.

Hi Gift, Joe and Baby David, another interesting vlog. Immigration can be difficult depending on the Office and individual Officer. However, I have never experienced any problems here in Khon Kaen. Like you Joe, I have stuck with my original Retirement Visa, despite being married, as it is far less hassle and can be renewed in a day, whereas, a Marriage Visa requires more paperwork and takes several weeks to process! Loved the measuring up for a suit! I liked the look of the food in the Blue Monkey. Have a Very Happy and Blessed Christmas 😀❤🙏

I had the same issue with my extension last year despite having the 12 month bank statement as well at Surin Immigration. But they gave me the extension anyway and one of the immigration ladies there said the best way is to update your passbook manually at the bank every month which shows the balance always above the minimum amount. So hopefullly I won't have the issue next March. I gotta say the office I go to at Kap Chong are great to deal with.

Joe , with your retirement needs , if you have 800,000 bahts and you deposit a hundred bahts per month you dont need copy from the bank , you just have to show monthly update s in your bank book !

We found the Blue Monkey in 2022 when we were staying at the Prachuap Beach Hotel before we saw it anywhere on KZbin. Went back again in 2023 but it was closed in 2024. Someone said Fabio had gone back to Europe. I was looking around PKK on Google Maps a month ago and saw it pop up south of Ao Manao. Didn’t believe it but I added it to my list to investigate in 2025 when we come for Songkran. The only Italian I know that puts pineapple on pizza! 555.

In the future retirement visas will be done online. The kink is susposidily it has to done outside of Thailand. The visa system changes so often you can't depend on it.

While it could be a little frustrating at times and I could high an agent if I wanted to. But for me, it’s worth the hazel for that one day out of the year, so that I get to enjoy Paradise for the other 364 days a year. Definitely worth the hassle for me.

Joe, regarding your visa extension, I thought you said you were using income method, not money in bank? If so, you shouldn’t need to show 800k in bank all year. I just extended my retirement visa in Chiang Mai using income method. What they required from my bank was a separate letter which shows 12 months of international transfers of at least 65k each month. I do not keep 800k any longer. It sound like they extended you using the 800k in the bank method. If you do drop below 800k during 2025 I’m afraid they will give you hassles next renewal. Good luck. I've given up.the dream.to.live in thailand a long time ago.due to the process to get a either retirement visa or marrige visa I hate the process and while my wife, from thailand has never had any issues or restrictions living in NewZealand no requirements what so ever and compared to thailand NewZealand is so simple and uncomplicated and much faire than thailand ever has been, thai immigration is just money grabbing and not worth tge hassle

Not easy or cheap for foreigners to retire in NZ. Same as in many countries too expensive and many other financial requirements/restrictions. Of course the marriage visa might be an easier process and less restrictions. “You can stay for up to 2 years on a visitor visa if you are aged 66 years or older and have NZD $750,000 to invest in New Zealand. You also need an additional NZD $500,000 to live on and an annual income of NZD $60,000 or more”.
