. Are you worried about the clutch on your Lamborghini Gallardo, Aventador, Murcielago, Ferrari F430, 360 or 355 burning out. E Gear/ F1 systems use a electrohydraulic actuator mechanism to shift the transmission and actuate the clutch by computer. Older Gallardos such as the 2004 and 2005 had different gearing that accelerated clutch wear. Should you be concerned about this or is this clutch wear not a big deal? Replacing this clutch can be an expensive big deal to replace on any F1 E Gear mechanism style system.
If you have a Ford, Ferrari, Chevy, Dodge Viper v10, LS, or big-block V8 in your car you can learn about the e gear clutch, flywheel, pressure plate and slave cylinder that comes in these exotics too!

I drive my e-gear as recommended by most. Its on it's second clutch. First clutch went 55,000 kms or 34k miles. I drove mine 10k kms last year and will get a snap test with its yearly service. Replacing a clutch is not a huge concern for me. I used to own a twin engine airplane so maintenance on a Lambo is far far less.. My reasons for not driving in the city has nothing to do with the clutch but others zooming up to take pictures or videos and hanging in my blind spots. I do drive in the city of course but tend to limit it for a purpose. I live on the edge of the city so easy for me to go around, and faster. Thanks for posting....

Pilotgirl, let me know what your snap test turns out to be once you do your yearly service. I'm interested to get more data points on general clutch wear in these cars. As you have a LP car, you should worry about clutch life even less than the Pre LP guys and gals have to. I cant even imagine how much stress twin engine airplane maintenance must be, I thought one engine was bad enough! You are totally right about driving in the city, people tend to do that don't they? At least if they are recording your car or looking at your car they know you are there right? I had a guy almost run into a curb because was too busy looking at me in his rear view mirror! LOL

@@TheBullRider I would like to ask you a question. Although I'm very familiar with several AMT systems based on the Free Choice system from Magneti Marelli, (lots of then mainly from Fiat and VW on the streets in Brazil....) I'm aware that the software used on the gears and clutch adjustments and calibration can be different based on the OEM. My question is, do you know of any equipment/ software/ interface that can do this job on the E-Gear system besides the original Lamborghini equipment? I've heard that VAG tools can do this, but I'm not sure this is accurate. If you don't know this, I'll find out and share with you.

@@samuelprados4975 Samuel, I have been looking into the TEXA system for the past few months. Its about 5000$ but can do everything LARA 6.0 can do for a lot less cost. www.obdmonitor.com/texa-navigator-nanos-car There is also Leonardo but its a bit pricey. www.leonardodiagnostictool.com/ VAGCOM works on the LP cars for some things and you can somehow get a clutch snap by looking at max and min values for the clutch position sensor but that's about it! When I do a clutch job, I will be buying TEXA personally.

Dave, it is true. You will get faster shifts in sport mode to the tune of about 20-40 milliseconds. Whether this increases clutch life or not is speculative. Another great video! And also good advice, buddy. I drove about 5,000 miles last year and the snap only moved from 52% to 48%. I was surprised in a good way. I only drive it in sport mode (unless I forget, and the difference is barely noticeable). I do treat it like a manual, putting it in neutral and such, and I usually avoid "town driving" owing to the # of lights/stops and also the crazy people/other drivers. More fun to go on country drives anyway. I used to have some "driver's remorse" after a long drive, but not any more. I did about 250 miles last weekend on the Natchez Trace with some other exotics and it was so much fun!

I recently bought an 08 F430 spider. It’s in beautiful condition. It had 11,000 kilometres on it when I bought it six months ago. My concern is that, going through the previous owners maintenance receipts, I see that he had the clutch job done at 10,000 kilometres. What the hell could he have been doing to cause that?? I could understand if the car looked really beat up, as if he abused it, but this car is near perfect. The original tires look great with significant tread left, so it doesn’t look like it was tracked. Also, the bill he paid was 25,000.00 Canadian.( clutch components only). Does this seam high? Do you really have to be that careful to get good clutch life with these? Any of your tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

Dave, your story is a perfect example of how to drive your 360, especially on such an "old" F1 clutch system. If you listened to the hype, you should be going through clutches every 10k but obviously you are not! Have you launched it yet? Probably a crazy thrill to break the rear tires loose! Haha

John, have you tried contacting the shop that did the job and see if they did the service as a "while im in there" job or if they did a snap test to determine if it was worn? Also, really look into getting new tires my friend, original tires on a 08 is dangerous!!!! Seriously!

@@johnforeman634 For starters the bill is about 3X higher that it should be for a complete clutch replacement, so there is something very wrong with that bill. @TheBullRider
@TheBullRider 2 жыл бұрын
Jacob. Thats great news! And yes you should, low RPM under 4000 rpm, lots of stop and go for 500 miles should be perfect. What your trying to do is embed the friction material onto the pressure plate and flywheel. The pores of the metal surface open at higher temperature and this allows for more of the clutch material to be embedded. Its just like bedding in your brakes, where you want to embed the brake pad material into the rotor to extend the life of both the rotor and the pad. And you are ahead of me!!! Congrats on getting a new clutch. In 40K miles, I hope you have the drive to do it yourself!
