I mean Qui-Gon was stronger with the force than he was with the lightsaber. If Qui-Gon survived, a lot of things would’ve been different. 1) he probably is one of a few Jedi that could detect a sith in hiding 2) he would’ve been the master of Anakin, which would’ve gave Ani a father-figure which is what he needed 3) With Qui-Gon being able to prove his worth to the Jedi Order, and prove he isn’t a Gray Jedi, then he could’ve gained the power to get the Jedi back to where they should’ve been.

In terms of lightsaber combat both there The Phantom Menace Legends EU Versions they are equals with Maul having the better typical weaponry and mastery of it plus Maul having the slight edge with physical abilities and a high edge with hand to hand combat now as far as current force powers I will have to give it to Plo at the time because of him being a telekenetic savant at that time even if not on par with Yoda, Dooku, Mace, Or Yaddle he was still high enough to teach classes including in combat not to mention his powers with tutiminus, electric judgement, and environmental alteration among other powers that could be used for battling other force sensitives in the end it depends on what distance they start from at long range Plo gets a medium edge, mid range it could go either way, and a close range Maul has a gigantic edge so depends yeah.
