you don't need to remove the end caps to swap out the insert; rather, you slide the end of the insert a bit toward the center, which frees it up, then you slide the insert out. (see Owner's Manual, page 497)

LOL yeah I figured that out after trying unsuccessfully to remove the end cap. wish I'd read your comment first :)

One tip, if you're going to remove the actual arms, put a heavy towel where it normally rests. If those metal arms come down on your windshield, it will def crack it.

If you have a clay bar kit or one you didnt fully use, spray some lubricant on the windshield and use the clay bar on the windshield. Then use a ceramic coating on it and it'll keep your windshield nice and clean for a good while

I did two things that easily fixed the "chattering" problem. 1) I swapped the soft wiper inserts between the two wipers making sure to have the edge face the opposite way. I think wipers will "take a set" when they rest on the window without being used for months at a time. Reversing them, and swapping them side-to-side can fix the chattering problem. 2) I applied RainX. I'd heard of RainX for many years but never tried it. It worked very well. Now the rain drops bead up and the surface of the windshield seems to further help with the chattering. Above 45 mph we don't even need to turn the wipers on because the flow of air over the windshield just blows the drops upward and off the windshield. Problem solved. The wipers work well and are silent.

I've tried rain x as well but notice the mod windshield smear coming back over time. Let me know if u have better success!

@@lonelydriver82 Instead of RainX, I use Meguiars Quik Wax spray on my windshield (and all other painted surfaces). Spray it on, then buff it with a microfiber cloth. Doesn't require near as much buffing as RainX to get all the residue off.

Try Rain-X as well. That stuff works great and helps driving in heavy rains.

you're right about the OEM blades. They don't last as long as you'd think. My just completely broke in pieces. Had to order aftermarket that are made out of silicone.

The end caps are NOT meant to be removed. Just slide the insert back toward the center, lift up and pull out. Install the same way in reverse. Not sure how he got the end caps off but they are meant to be fixed.

Removing the caps wouldn't work for me using the side-to-side method Kevin showed. I found out the hard way what holds the cap onto the blade. There's a metal pawl on the top side that locks into a square opening in the plastic cap. I inserted a flat-bladed screwdriver too far and too hard, causing the delicate, important side of the square opening to break off. I used a strip of electrical tape to hold that cap in place after replacing the wiper insert. Now educated, I inserted the screwdriver into the second cap only until I felt a slight resistance. Then I twisted the screwdriver a bit to lift the square opening off the metal pawl and that enabled me to slide the cap off the end of the wiper blade.

Great video!. How about one using Android Auto? Im ditching my iPhone for a Pixel 3 so any tips would be great. I've ordered the replacement blades before our next downpour here in SoCal.

I actually have a pixel 3 xl and realized I don't like Android Auto, I feel it limits most of the phone function.. however pixel works great with all the Bluetooth functions and I like to use it that way. Great car , great phone!

You could use the old rubbers as the other way arround in it's own place of blades.

Did the chattering improve after the blades change? Can't tell from the video. Great sharing though.

For awhile and then comes back, gotta keep the windshield clean to reduce chatter

@@lonelydriver82 wax the windshield or use a new product from Armour All for windows that contains ceramic.

Ha! Anyone who has a roll of low-stick 3M painting tape on their bench is A-O-K in my book. :D (I have rolls of that stuff on my bench, on my other bench, at my desk...)
