Hint for kid accidents. Make your bed with two sets of sheets and a waterproof pad between them. If there’s an accident in the middle of the night whip off the wet sheets and you’re ready to go back to bed. I started doing this with crib sheets and did it long past bedwetting. Now my daughter-in-law does it.

That's what Dana K White from A Slob Comes Clean does! She declutters without making a bigger mess by putting things away right then in the moment of decluttering, so that of she gets interrupted, she's only left with progress made, not piles to deal with later. No mess! Such a helpful concept! And I LOVE all the pretty little touches you've done-the velcro ribbons and labels with the little clips. Way to go!

It turned out great! I find that after I organize spaces, I will go back to them just to enjoy the order. :) Our house has very little closet space, so I have found that it works to keep the sheets in the room where they are used. And it means that the sheets for that particular bed are right there.

I keep an old king sheet in the sensory colored rice bin and lay it out underneath before putting the open bin in the middle for the grandkiddos to play in. Makes clean up easier by just picking up the edges of the sheet and pouring the rice back in the bin when we are done playing. Works for lego too or anything with small pieces. Also keeps me from saying silly things like, "Let's keep all the rice in the bin everyone."

Idk if you noticed this Erica but you should BE SO PROUD. Because at the start of your journey if their was any empty space you would try to fill it like that massive cube shelf for example and i know many of us still slip into that on occasion even at your current point since its often ingrained in us at somepoint even if we cant reach it or it doesnt actually need to be so when you said "im not using it/im leaving it empty" like wow. Well done seriously growth milestone. Seriously be amazed at yourself! The... "Im not using it i dont need to and it wouldnt make sense to do so since i cant reach it and stuff up there or out of the way aka not intuitive or easy would just take up space and not get used or be something you probably need anyway." IS SUCH a healthy and wise mentality. & I wish more people would try to keep such things in mind.

Wow - I often complain about needing a bigger linen closet. I now realise I still have way too many sheets, towels, pillow cases, duvet covers etc. I donated A LOT before we moved into this house 3 years ago as we moved from a house with 2 huge linen closets to one with a linen closet half the size of just one of the others. Since then it’s been a constant squish to get everything put away - making it so hard to find what we need. I used to store the sheets inside the matching pillowcase, will go back to that method. We keep fluffy white towels for our guests and the family know they are “out of bounds” though I think I might move them into the guest room closet along with the spare guest bedding.

But still a few issues and definitely still to much guest stuff. We (me and the kids) have 2 sets each.. But I had a lot of guest stuff for family visiting.. But it is usually just my parents and not my sister and family at the same time.. The last time they all came was 8 years ago!... .. So I could reduce guest stuff now. .... You have motivated me to do the last bit😊.. It probably isn't more than half an hour work.. I just hate bedding😭.. So put it off😭

We just have the same size bed in every bedroom. As soon as we graduate from cots we go straight into double beds. Mattresses at best last about 10 years. So its basically like a new mattress at puberty and then by the time were adults we can either move out to dorms or our own place type stuff or buy a new mattress when we move and the old one will be a only when were home guest sorta one. And if you use mattresses and pillow protectors specifically waterproof that extends the life of the mattress add in mattress toppers (we use doonas or blankets and put the mattress protector over it so they remain clean and it also adds to confort in bed while also storing the bedding were not using outside of winter) We make sure theyre either all pillow top or all not since having a double sized pillow top means i need to buy queen sheets etc. All the doonas are king size as well since i love the really big snuggly hang over all the sides of the bed doonas and blankets. For each room or person if they share rooms we have different colours i have white my mother is a deep green predominately but any green is hers for example. If you want to sinplify even more you can just make all towels blankets etc universal rather than belonging to an individual. Like a hotel sorta deal

Love it!! One piece of advice. If you use your flat sheet to wrap around the outside of the pillowcases and fitted it looks “perfect” I always wondered how they did that. Secret is a flat sheet
@AZHITW4 жыл бұрын
That's what I do, flat sheet folded so that the fitted sheet and pillowcases can be encased, I think putting sheets inside a pillow case is to much trouble.

You are obviously not a compulsive crafter 🤪 (like me). I actually buy used flat sheets to use for multiple hobbies. I rip them into thin strips and with big crochet hooks make place mats, coasters and floor mats for gifts. I also draft wedding gowns directly off the bride's body onto the sheets before I buy the expensive fabrics to create the gown. I even made temporary cushion covers for my couch until I could do the actual recovering with better fabric. 🤗

💐 Erica, I applaud you every video for your great quest in organizing your home! 😊👍. Here is a suggestion: why bother with all the baskets for sheets? Why not just have the one extra set for each bed, different colors for each room, and store the extra set just under the corner of each mattress? In the middle of the nite accidents, it’s right there. Keep it Simple!!! 😊❤️❤️❤️👍👏

Bathrooms create steam and moisture if your linen is stored in the room you most likely need a door to keep the moisture off your linens so they dont get damp smelly and potentially mouldy.

My biggest frustration with sheets is that they almost never show the size on the tag. I got tired of taking them from the dryer & not knowing what size they were. With older kids, we have double, queen, & king beds, all with similar, solid color sheets. I finally took a sharpie to the tag on each sheet, writing the name of the person it belonged to. I found the name to be better since I had tried this in the past using the size & some people wouldn’t remember their bed size & “steal” someone else’s clean sheets.

This is why labeling a space or basket is key. Also explaining to others using the space that only those items are allowed. Some say labeling everything is overkill but it acts as a placeholder for when the space is momentarily empty of that item.
