What would you do if while living the United States you really, really wanted to get your hands on an Audi RS4 Avant? Import a right hand drive version? If you answered "build one entirely from rare and hard to find imported RS4 European parts" then you definitely need to sit back, relax and check out this one of a kind Audi.
This car started its life as an Audi S4 Avant with an automatic transmission. The drive train was swapped out with proper RS4 components including the 4.2L V8 capable of revving to 8,250 rpm mated to a proper RS4 spec 6 speed manual transmission. But's that's not all. The differential, interior, body panels, suspension and SO MUCH MORE has been upgraded and replaced with hard to find imported RS4 parts and components. In fact, the only thing that is essentially left of the original S4 are the front doors, the roof, and the trunk.
Brace yourselves folks because this Audi is not just your run of the mill sports cars. This this is a wolf in wolves clothing. This car has SO many unique features, upgrades, details, and amazing parts that everything couldn't possibly fit into one video. The dang internet is just not big enough for how awesome this Audi is.

Doing justice to this car should have been crediting the original owner with the build & heavy lifting. That person being Dan Gray. The current owner has done a few cosmetic changes but the real work was done long before he bought it off of Bring A Trailer.

Dan Gray definitely deserves credit for the initial work and vision he had for this car. If I knew him, I would love to do a video on his contribution. I would also be thrilled to interview Hans and the team at Audi, over in Ingolstadt, Germany for their role on the initial construction of the car. The thing about a great build like this one is that many people play a significant role in the story of the vehicle as it takes shape over the years. The current owner is passionate about the vehicle and wants to share the greatness of the build with the world, which does not discredit the amount of work other skilled and talented individuals like Dan contributed to the car. In fact, it actually embraces their role with the car. It advances their legacy and keeps the build alive. The current owner has done an insurmountable amount of work to the car that has gone far beyond cosmetic. Shipping in European RS4 interior including active wing backs seats and retrofitting them to maintain their full functionality is not an easy feat. Addressing all the electrical gremlins as a result of a build, importing an OEM RS4 transmission and rebuilding the driveline and differential with top notch, specced out parts is just a small glimpse into the dedication and passion he has for the car. Dan should be proud that his hard work was not in vain as this build lives on. So many great cars like this fall into the hands of individuals who neglect, wreck, or can't afford to to improve them. The attention this car has been receiving during the current owner's time is not about the owner stealing kudos for the work that Dan and the folks that helped him, did. The attention is being received for what Audi designed this car to be in the first place. A rolling work of art that handles and performs as good as it looks. The current owner is like every car guy or gal out there. They place thought and effort into a car that was designed by someone great. They invest time and money in something that was built by talented individuals in a factory somewhere. As with many builds that are sold, the current owner picked up where Dan left off, made improvements, changes, fixed issues and added many major additions to their liking. I personally want to thank Dan and Hans, over at Audi for their hard work as they deserve major credit, however we should not discredit anyone else such as the current owner and any potential owners in the future that dedicate their time and ability into keeping amazing customized cars like this on the road.

@@ModernGreaseryou want to thank Hans? Really? I could have put euro wingbacks in the car.. I very deliberately chose not to as they are 30 pounds heavier than the Sporter CS seats input in the car. I also very deliberately left the S4 spec transmission in the car because of the gear ratios. Nothing was wrong with the car when I sold it. Also the only part that came from Europe for the build was the rear bumper. Everything else was sourced from US spec RS4 sedans. I am just seeing this video now.. hilarious.

Probably one of the best cars I got the pleasure of owning, although in the UK the Avants are actually more common than the saloons I thought. Tended to see more of those around. The way you guys say Audi is quite funny too haha

Dude.... I had a camera and mic rigged up to the car. The owner took it over the Gandy bridge....and his drive was in vain. I didn't get the footage or sound :(

The car actually has exhaust on it that was designed for an RS4. Sorry for the confusion. I was comparing the Ebwerks exhaust on the RS4 to an Ebworks set up on the 911 we had in a previous video.
