I’m 24 years old from South Africa. I worked as a griller for literally a year but in that year I used to go to work on my off days to clean and do work I couldn’t do when I was on shift. When things needed to be done I would go out of my way to get things done immediately. A year later I got promoted to floor manager, still kept the same mentality and got moved to another store but this time I had to run 2 shops(Fishaways and Steers which are next to each other merged into one)with literally little experience. The stock counts, customer complaints, the stress from staff but one thing I’m always organized and out of the box thinker. I had those shops under my wings like I owned the franchise. It’s a few months later and I’m again being given another position at Debonairs Pizza cause my boss owns about 7 shops and is now buying 2 more. Because I get things done he is reliant on me to get things done.

I’ve always worked with urgency and assess the world of probability. If 60% or more on my side, I go all in into it. However, a manager used to tell me to slow down and determine pros and cons before moving forward. That was 10 years ago. If I assess situation, I’m way ahead now by acting quickly. Sure, I’ve failed couple of times and should have slowed down to avoid certain things. However, because of this, the 60% made me 60% better as a person and professional!

I think it was Steve Jobs that said that the moment you have all the information, you should make a decision in the next 5 minutes. Even if it is a multi-billion dollar decision. It might be a 50/50 decision where the wrong choice can cost you a ton of money, but if you have all the information, delaying won't let you make a better decision. You just waste time and cause yourself extra stress while you think about it over and over again. Deciding and acting fast actually saves you time. Delaying something until after the New Year... you still have to do it after the New Year. Just do it now. You have to accept the fact that sometimes your best informed choice will be wrong, but acting fast gives you more time to fix it.

Patrick, I completely agree and enjoy the majority of your videos and the message they convey. Personally, I'm very much into the "move quickly" mentality. However, for certain situations, in particular, your conversation with the publishing company, it comes down to prioritization. Just playing devil's advocate here, what if the owner of this publishing company doesn't want to seem too eager to speak with you because he knows you're interested in potentially buying his company. If he shows that he is too eager and/or "moving quickly", it will show weakness on his end and subconsciously give you the impression that he would accept your first offer(which is most likely going to be a lower offer). Perhaps in this particular case, he is interested in speaking with you but doesn't want to come off as being too eager. My point is, while I agree with the overall message of moving quickly and getting things done in a timely manner, sometimes not to move quickly is a strategic move within the overall bigger picture.

There are quick Vs. deep thinkers. Some problems require deep diving and looking from different angles, not just intuition and reflex.
@tfspod2 жыл бұрын
It's true that different situations and problems may require different approaches to thinking and problem-solving. In some cases, quick thinking and the ability to make decisions quickly can be valuable, particularly in fast-paced or high-stress situations. However, in other cases, more careful and thorough thinking may be necessary. This may involve looking at a problem from multiple angles, considering a range of options, and taking the time to gather and analyze information. This type of deep thinking can be especially important when dealing with complex or important issues that require a more nuanced approach. Ultimately, the key is to be able to adapt your thinking style to the specific needs of the situation, and to be able to balance the need for speed with the need for thoroughness and accuracy.

This is one of the first lessons in Hustlers University. Speed is key for real
@tfspod2 жыл бұрын
It's true that speed can be an important factor in many areas of life. In some cases, being able to act quickly or respond quickly can give you an advantage or allow you to take advantage of opportunities that may not be available for long. However, it's also important to balance the need for speed with other considerations, such as accuracy, thoroughness, and safety. Sometimes, taking the time to think things through or to double-check your work can be more beneficial in the long run than acting quickly without taking the necessary precautions. Ultimately, the key is to find the right balance between speed and other important considerations, and to be mindful of the specific context and goals of the task at hand.

@angusorvid88402 жыл бұрын
This is something I noticed a long time ago about successful people. What sets them apart from the dreamers is they only talk about what they do, not what they dream. They manage their time in a way that guides them towards forward momentum. They're not dreamers, but doers. I don't mean that they don't have dreams, but they spend more time doing than dreaming. Also, they are not afraid to fail. What they fear most is never giving it a shot, never trying. There is always the chance you will fall flat on your face, but if you don't do anything you'll just stand still and keep dreaming.
@michaelzambakkides2 жыл бұрын
True. Problem is when you're like this in business and others around you are not then your sense of urgency and responsiveness is seen as an issue with others who push things down the road or the next day or what have you . "You need to give yourself me time", "You deserve rest", "Everybody is off today, so why do I need to work." Now I realize it's an asset. I'm not a workaholic, but I'd rather do something now than just put it off until tomorrow. I have no rules around when I should work or do things. If I need rest, my body will tell me. Otherwise I march forward. Appreciate you putting this in context with real examples. Certainly helps me understand the mindset better.

One thing nobody ever mentions in these conversations is passion, and where does it come from. We don't control that, Im sorry. Call it God, DNA, whatever. I was always considered an extremist or fanatic in whatever I got involved in and in turn excelled, but those passions where given to me and not something I could ever take credit for or even control. I guess you could say there is an element of predisposition outside of your control here too. Remember to give thanks to where it belongs too, otherwise we can become arrogant.
@tfspod2 жыл бұрын
It's true that passion and drive can be powerful motivators, and can play a significant role in helping individuals achieve their goals and reach their full potential. While it's true that we don't have complete control over where our passions come from, we do have the power to cultivate and nurture them, and to use them as a source of inspiration and motivation. It's also important to recognize that passions and interests can change over time, and it's okay to explore different areas and see what resonates with you. It's also important to be open to learning and trying new things, as this can help you discover new passions and interests. Ultimately, it's important to remember to be grateful for the passions and gifts that have been given to you, and to use them to make a positive impact in the world. By using your passions to serve others and make a difference, you can find a greater sense of purpose and fulfillment in your life.

This is great advice for those that want to hustle and make work their life for a season. However long term this is not sustainable or great idea because it leads to burnout especially if your priorities are work before everything else. The older you get, the more you realize that quality time with your family and having good health are way more important. It’s all about where your priorities are. I want to be urgent to love my family and take care of my health. Hustle life is not the most fulfilled life imo.

You might actually be doing it already in your life without even realizing it. Spending quality time with your family is part of this also. From my experience as a guy, living in that higher gear is our natural state, like we are meant to be busy with our lives, be it work or quality(key word) time with family and friends otherwise depression looms around the corner.

I work the same way: quickly. Instantly. And I can’t understand anyone who doesn’t work as fast as I do. And I can’t respect anyone who procrastinates. A lawyer told me I was a Type A personality. I don’t wait, I PUSH. I get things done. Now. Today. Done.

Pat Love your stuff, been watching for many years and i couldn't agree more. I set myself a long term goal to hit before 2023 which was very hard to achieve, and on Dec. 31st I hit it but on that same day i felt like i wasn't ready but tried anyway, and success! But i'm also ready to go the next day after a huge accomplishment because I know deep down I don't need to relax or need a break. What I can add to this is make sure you reward yourself too! Take breaks. If you don't feel a huge need to take a break then don't, if there is more gas in the tank than use it just make sure you aren't running on empty.

Thanks Pat. The only problem I have with this video was I could only hit the like button once. This was a powerful and informative drink and what I experienced with several companies and partners as the New Year came in. "Money Never Sleeps." Remember that line? 💯

I love Pat and I always will but here I must say, "Your time can be someone else's later". The stars do align, and that's when your time is their time. We all don't have to sort things out now now now, we do have other things to do now now now.
