Hardly a first. Many TV/Radio link-ups over the years. Simulcasts with Radio 1,2 and 3 were common on BBC2 during the 70s. Nationwide linked up with all four networks in November 1978 for the frequency changes. Wogan was live on Radio 1 for the station's 20th in 1987. Not to mention TOTP was simulcast on Radio 1 and BBC1 in the late 80s and early 90s.

"Waking up early for school and listening to Scott Mills" - bloody hell, that makes me feel so old.

If you feel old, I feel ancient, in my schooldays I used to listen to Noel Edmonds on the Radio One Breakfast Show...

@@robalexander8065 Now that is the real classic Radio 1. Anything from when Matthew Bannister came in, I don't consider to be real Radio 1.

Whilst I am old enough to remember the launch of Radio 1, I might have still been in bed at that time - but I think we mostly had Radio 2 on in the Vasey household - that is until mam discovered BBC Radio Teesside, as it originally was - then, when Teesside became Cleveland, so did the station - it was the only station mam ever allowed to be put on, regardless of whose radio we used - or even whose batteries we were using!

When BBC Radio 1 brought in Matthew Bannister and Trevor Dann, they ruined the station totally. Bringing in chav presenters, bloody rappers, stupid MC's, and black music.

The station is aimed at young people though. It was attracting a too older audience.

@@anthonyduncalf-uk They've done it to Radio 2 and the other national stations to cater to young ears though and it's alienated older listeners, Radio 2 and other stations should stick to their formulas and do what they do best, I would've taken the old school DJ's to Radio 2 as I think they had a place there.
