The dhampir also gets 35 feet of movement AND can spider climb on walls at 3rd level. You could theoretically take the Mobile feat at level 4, and get 10 more feet of movement, and run down the wall, attack, and run back up again! It’s a very effective tactic.

If you were to replace your strength with dexterity and drop the armor and shield, you could take levels in Way of the Kensei monk, since the bite attack counts as a melee weapon and not an unarmed strike, you can make it your Kensei weapon and at level 6 you can overcome damage resistances to non-magical piercing damage, and use deft strike to deal even more damage to enemies you attack. The damage of the bite would also scale up as a monk weapon as you level up.
@minben7300

Oh and if you use the optional class feature "Ki-Fueled Attack", and use deft strike to deal damage on one of your initial attacks, you can make a bite attack as a bonus action.

Not really one stat wonder though, because your AC is going to be based on dex+wis, and you will want high wiz for stunning strikes and you need high dex for the unarmed attacks as a bonus action.
@minben7300
@minben7300 Жыл бұрын
@@insertphrasehere15 It's a gimmick build so of course it's not going to be that optimized to begin with, all you really need is at least a 13 in dex and 13 in wis so that you can multiclass into rune knight fighter, and maybe a 13 in strength if you want to multiclass into Barb for unarmored defense. If you save all/most of your ki for deft strikes, you can still use a bite attack as a bonus action via ki-fueled strikes. Either way, at least 6 levels in kensei monk is ideal, because having your main source of martial damage be nonmagical is going to hurt the strength of the build in the long run.
@ExplosiveFloofBall
@ExplosiveFloofBall Жыл бұрын
Actually no, RAW a weapon can only be a monk weapon if it uses strength or dex initially, and that's not an option with the dhampir bite :/
@minben7300
@minben7300 Жыл бұрын
@@ExplosiveFloofBall That's actually not true, the only requisite for monk weapons is that it has to be "shortswords and any simple melee weapons that don't have the two-handed or heavy property" The str or dex thing is a benefit of monk weapons, not the requisite. So you can't make a dhampir bite as a dex attack but you can still apply all of the other benefits that monk weapons give you.

If you take the Tavern Brawler Feat, which does allow you to bump Strength or Con, then, because the bite counts as a natural weapon, and therefore an unarmed strike, you can even grapple on the same turn you bite, as a bonus action. Take Hex as your spell from aberrant dragonmark, and you can do extra damage while giving them disadvantage on either the athletics or acrobatics (whichever they're more likely to us) to escape the grapple. Sink your teeth in, grab the target, then drag them off kicking and screaming, up a nearby wall, before dropping them, completely drained, from the ceiling. If I was DM'ing that, I'd give you advantage and a super low DC on intimidation to get the enemy to surrender after that. Did something similar with an Order of the Lycan Bloodhunter that had slippers of Spider climb. Slash the target with her claws and get a hold of them, then clamp her Jaws around the targets throat, shaking and tearing whilst dragging them away. Nothing is more terrifying than a creative and descriptive player.

@@Nik_the_RAWful_evil technically, claws, fangs and tails and horns ARE unarmed strikes. You can't be disarmed from them.
@Nik_the_RAWful_evil
@Nik_the_RAWful_evil Жыл бұрын
@@kiritotheabridgedgod4178 That doesn't matter, they're different according to the rules. The long and short of it is unarmed strikes deal 1 + STR bludgeoning damage, unless overridden by more specific rules. Monsters, who commonly have claws and fangs, have no mention of said special rules like monks do. As a reference compare Monsters of the Multiverse Tabaxi to Beast Barbarians Tabaxi: You can use your claws to make unarmed strikes. When you hit with them, the strike deals 1d6 + your Strength modifier slashing damage, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike. Beast Barbarian (Claws): Each of your hands transforms into a claw, which you can use as a weapon if it's empty. It deals 1d6 slashing damage on a hit. Once on each of your turns when you attack with a claw using the Attack action, you can make one additional claw attack as part of the same action. I agree with your common sense, mind you, I'm stating the rules seems to be intended otherwise. Always remember the RAWest rule is the DM decides, which totally makes sense. For instance, what's the damage in allowing a beast barbarian to dip Monk in order to capitalise on attacking with the claws with their bonus action by using martial arts or flurry of blows? It certainly takes a toll on the stats and on action economy, as opposed to moon druids shapechanging into some beasts and eventually elementals who would have additional effects if allowed to attack again as a bonus action with their attacks (for instance, snake's constrict). A good player discuss these with the DM in advance and an agreement is eventually met, it's not a problem with a one size fits all solution. If a player wants to be Kung Fu Panda and that fits the theme, discuss how, not if!

I've theory crafted this build a bit, and I feel there's a few notes worth making. The Vampiric Bite ability allows you to gain the piercing damage dealt as a bonus to your next ability check, which would include the Athletics check to grapple. I find this more worthwhile than a small amount of HP gained, although the former may be important in clutch situations where healing is limited in a party. The 1d6 of Giant Might adds to this, for 1d6+1d4+CON added to your next grapple attempt while enlarged. Honestly your Vampiric Bite ability should always be used in rounds where Giant Might is active to get that extra 1d6 added to the effect, since you get the same number of Vampiric Bite uses as you do Giant Might uses in a day. Also, since damage is such a big issue, I'd personally say the best cantrip to gain is Create Bonfire, and the best fighting style is Unarmed Fighting. Unarmed Fighting gives an extra 1d4 damage at the start of each of your turns against an enemy that is grappled, and Create Bonfire gives a scaling 1d8 that a creature must save against each time it ends its turn there, AND the first time it passes through the bonfire on any turn (not round). Create Bonfire is also a DEX save, thus not an attack roll, so you can use it in melee without disadvantage. Since you can move up to half speed while an enemy is grappled, carrying or dragging the enemy with you, you can force them to save against the damage each round just by using your movement on your turn, and so long as you end with them in the fire they have to save against it again at the end of their turn if they don't break the grapple, which for most creatures requires using their entire action just to attempt to do so. Also, if your DM is generous in using abilities logically, it makes sense to me that you should be able to just drag or carry the enemy around you into other adjacent spaces without having to move yourself, meaning you can just use up movement to move the enemy in and out of the fire without having to move yourself. Technically not RAW, but makes most sense to me. If we assume level 6, with Aberrant Dragonmark at 4 for Create Bonfire, Unarmed Fighting style, and then +2 CON at level 6, starting combat against a big threat would start like this. First turn get in the enemy's face and cast Create Bonfire. Not a great first round, but unless you're not using a shield you have to start with this, as Create Bonfire has a somatic component, meaning if you have a shield you can't use it while you have an enemy grappled due to no free hand. Round 2 you enlarge with your bonus action, then bite, then grapple. The bite will give you 1d6+1d4+5 (average +11) to your next grapple if it hits, and the enlarge will give you advantage on the grapple attempt. Each subsequent round, so long as you maintain grapple and concentration, you will be getting 1d4 free damage at the start of each turn, 2d8 damage on your turn by moving the enemy into the fire, 2d8 damage on the enemy's turn if they do not break the grapple to escape the fire, and then your 2x 1d4+5 attacks, one of which gets 1d6 added to it. Assuming all hits connect, each round that is 3d4 +1d6+4d8+10, for an average 39 damage across all sources. 1d4+4d8 (average 20.5) of that damage comes free just by maintaining the grapple and concentration each turn, which could make it feel in the enemy's best interest to spend actions trying to break your grapple as all the little bits of damage start stacking up. 1d4 of this damage is free, 2d4+1d6+10 of the damage is piercing against AC, and 4d8 of it is fire against DEX, so you have a good mix to getting at least some DPR going against a variety of monster types. However, I personally feel that the Skill Expertise feat would probably be better at 6 for the expertise in athletics, and just keeping with the +4 CON for level 6, as the static +3 athletics will net you more successful grapple attempts, which I feel is more of a net gain for your party across an adventuring day. This is especially true if you can get a spellcaster to dedicate zone spells for you to drag enemies through, such as Cloud of Daggers or the edge of a Spike Growth, or even offering a Bonfire themselves if they don't need their concentration for anything else that fight. However, if you don't have any squishies on your team where successful grapples are important, just going straight for the +5 CON may be the better option versus getting Expertise as the extra +1 to hit and damage on bites, and the +1 extra saving throw for Create Bonfire, and +1 bonus to concentration, is still going to be a net DPR comparable to another +3 on grapples, and the +1 to hit on the bite means more success rate on important rounds where you want to hit with it for the bonus, you just might not feel as comfortable failing 15% more grapple attempts overall, especially if your STR is already not as high as you would like.

If you have a generous master DM one good option for the Dhampire is Barbarian Path of the Beast. The Bite option makes your damage improve to 1d8. Since they kinda do the same thing you could ask for the Bite option to simply improve your bite attack, while still using your Constitution for the attack. It's not RAW by any means, but I'm a DM and I would 10 out of 10 allow this bc it would be just awesome have a blood-frenzied dhampir that bites the sh*t out of everyone.

i did this build as a Dhampir Wild Magic Barbarian / Rune Knight Fighter, for more CON Save fun. the CON to AC meant that i maxed out my AC at 20 with a +3 Shield. but i don't usually mind the lower Maximum AC on a tank. many DMs use the rule that if an enemy misses too much, they'll attack another character instead. i want people to attack me, or else i can't use my High HP and my Healing. strength was a secondary stat, mostly for Rage/Reckless Attack, but my priority was to max out my CON and Tough. Shield Master & Danger Sense combo pretty well for Reflex saves too, so my DEX wasn't a huge deal. was lots of fun, being the "CON Wizard"

Nice video! I should point out tho: The Rune Knight extra damage doesn't necessarily add healing to the Dhampir's Bite, sadly. It's up to DM to decide, since the Rune Knight feature adds damage to the attack, and not the weapon. And Dhampir's bite states that the healing is equal to the "piercing damage dealt by the bite", bite being the name of the weapon (Bite couldn't refer to the action of biting because there's no Bite Action in D&D) Therefore only effects that increase the weapon's damage should increase the Dhampir's healing, from a RAW perspective. So, if you want to play this build as presented, you should probably discuss it first with your DM if they're cool with allowing something that doesn't necessarily works RAW. They should have the final word on the matter Edit: Some other options to consider that do increase the weapon's damage are Battlemaster Maneuvers, Kensei Monk features, Favored Foe, Monster Hunter Ranger Slayer's Prey, Swords Bard Blade Flourishes and ofc the Piercer Feat

If your DM allows for amazing 3rd Party content you could go pugilist instead and have even more Con synergy. If you put in a decent Int you could go Bladesinger, decorate your teeth with silver or gems, and then use bladetrips with them. Bladesong could be reflavored as a sort of "bloodlust" boost that still allows you to cast spells, and at 6th level of Bladesinger you can still do more attacks on top of a bladetrip.

I've found one of the best "single stat" builds is actually Warforged Forge Cleric. You do still need that 15 in Strength for the heavy armour (if you don't care about the speed penalty then there's no need) but everything else goes into Wisdom. Warforged already buffs con and with an AC as high as 22 at first level (if you have plate) nothing will come close to hitting you. While you can't pick up as many feats as Fighter you're still a full spellcaster, and you can get some pretty nice buffs to boot. Your spell list should include: Shield of Faith, just constantly concentrate on it. Spiritual Weapon: Free bonus damage Feats: I recommend War Caster, and Shield Master to cover your weak Dex and allow you to concentrate on your spells a bit better, you can also get Fey Touched or other +1 wisdom feats as you wish. If you don't mind sacrificing one ASI you can take a 3 level dip into Fighter (Eldritch Knight) gaining Shield, Action Surge, and the Defence fighting style. And a few Utility spells.

So, for a really silly, interesting version of this, go Dhampir Hexblade Warlock with the Wildspacer background for the Tough feat. Put your highest stats in Con and Charisma, with a 14 in Dex. Get medium armor and a shield for easy 18 AC at level 1. At 3rd level, take Pact of Blade and swap an Eldritch Invocation for Improved Pact Weapon. You also now have 2nd-level spell slots. Take Magic Weapon for this level (you'll swap it out next level.) Right before a short rest, cast Magic Weapon on your own teeth. They count as a simple weapon, so they're an eligible target for the spell. They're now a +1 magic weapon. IMMEDIATELY begin performing your Pact of the Blade ritual on your teeth as part of a short rest. Congratulations! You've now made your own teeth into your pact weapon. This can remain permanent as long as you don't change it. Now, dismiss your teeth into an extra-dimensional space. You heard me right. Now, summon your pact weapon and POOF your fangs pop back into your mouth, and are now a +1 magic weapon from Improved Pact Weapon, AND can be used as a spellcasting focus for your warlock spells. That's right. You have achieved your dream. You can cast spells at people using your own teeth, which you can dismiss and summon at will. Noteworthy weird additions: A few levels of Gloomstalker Ranger lets you cast Pass Without Trace, walk across the ceiling in darkness, put Hexblade's Curse on your quarry, Dread Ambusher enemies for 3-4 bite attacks for something like 4d4+1d8+32. Alternatively, a couple levels in Sorcerer puts you into Sorlock territory and also lets you Quickened Spell Booming Blade bite as a bonus action, on top of giving you cool subclass features.

Fun thing is with your bite counting as a weapon you can restrain opponents to get advantage on attacks, which if you target foes with weak strength scores (preferable casters or archers that don't have access to teleportation) to get an easy way to generate advantage. A different way that you could get easy advantage is stone rune (best used early on when charm immunity is rarer) if they fail that is free advantage. I'd say Dex would be a better investment than Strength. Fighter starts out with Chainmail which is 75 GP which could be quickly traded for scalemail armor that's only 50. Ideally a GM would allow this early level but it could probably be sold to an armorer quickly before the game and potentially still earn a bit of starting gold. With just a 14 in Dex It's only one AC off from full Plate without the heavy stat investment in a substandard stat. If you really need heavy armor later there's magic items that can raise your STR score such as Gauntlets of Ogre strength you can grab later fairly easily since it's only uncommon.

So you'll have more damage/healing from the vampiric bite. Then I'd consider taking an extra battle master maneuver as a fighting style. So we could heal for 2d4 + 6d6 + 4 in case of a critical hit. You'll see critical hits quite often 'cause when a dampire is below half HP your bite attack always has an advantage. After level 5 consider multiclassing into a college of swords, it works amazing.

Not wanting to ruin the fun for you, but Hunter's Mark increasing the healing from Dhampir's bite is not RAW, and it's DM fiat. Because Dhampir's bite only heals the "damage dealt by the bite", bite being the name of the weapon. And Hunters Mark doesn't add damage to the weapon, instead adding damage to the attack. If your DM is cool with that, then you can build the way you're saying. But if your DM decides to follow RAW on this matter, it doesn't work Edit: Same thing for Rune Knight extra damage.

@@Черныйрусский-ь7б it doesn't increase the weapons damage tho. "You deal an extra 1d6 damage to the target whenever you hit it with a weapon attack" You hit the target with a weapon attack, the weapon deals damage, and then you deal an extra d6 of damage on top of that. Compare that to the wording of Menacing Attack "You add the superiority die to the attack's damage roll" The attack is dealing extra damage, instead of you. Ofc, your DM can look at this and say "For me, they're the same thing", but a DM could also say "It isn't". Therefore, it's up to the DM if your build works or not. Edit: I would like to point out that this is a very strict reading of the rules, and I'm not saying it is the right way to rule this synergy. All I'm saying is that this reading is possible.

@@joaoguilherme3120 I'm novice in the spelling of DND but doesen't "an extra 1d6 [...] with a weapon attack" mean it's "an extra 1D6 to the weapon damage" since the weapon is conditional, as well as the succesful attack ? The "extra" meaning it's an addition to an already calculated damage value ? It being +1d6 to the Bite ( weapon ) damage seems pretty much increasing the weapon damage, and be RAW.

@@gerardlacroix6015 The feature clearly specifies that *You* deal extra damage, not the weapon. Even then, the weapon being part of the conditional effect doesn't mean the damage comes from it. Just pick the Order Cleric 1st level feature that allows you to direct an ally to attack. You're the condition ("When you cast a spell"), but you're not the one making the attack.

I'm currently playing a Winged Tiefling turned Dhampir (you can keep the fly speed as written) Rune Knight/Rogue. Only level 6 (4 Fighter/2 Rogue) but being able to fly and having expertise in grappling alongside Tavern Brawler from lv4 feat and the unarmed fighting style is really useful for single target utility and lockdown. Eldritch Claw Tattoo is also great, allowing your unarmed strikes to get +1 to hit and damage, and count as magical as a passive benefit, as well as allowing you to get 1 minute of 15ft reach and additional force damage.

You can do a single ability character with INT as well. Play a Mark of Warding Dwarf Abjuration Wizard, and pick up the eldritch adept feat for Armor of Shadows. You wade indo combat with Armor of Agathys and your arcane ward full, and then you use mage armor between combats to fill up the ward to full. Your con doesn't really matter much because you have so many temp HP between the Arcane Ward and Armor of Agathys, and your Dex/AC also doesn't matter much because you actually kinda want melee attackers to hit you to trigger the Armor of Agathys. The other stats are also irrelevant to being a wizard. Arguably this is even more of one stat wonder than what you've shown here, since we don't care about that secondary 15 in strength.

Turns out also that my Con was so stupid high holding concentration despite being in melee all the time was rather easy and witch bolt 1st level leveled out the lack of damage nicely, if you didn't get great rolls for you Con I recommend Silvery barbs or Chaos bolt for extra damage..

I’d probably dip into armorer artificer for the all-Con build. You get heavy armor but don’t have to abide by the strength requirement. You can still make the bite attack with Dhampir, then go Guardian to pump out temp HP. Pick spells that don’t care about your intelligence.

Was about to post this one. You'd want to go at least 5 levels into it to get extra attack without too much of a delay, and those first two levels will kind of suck. But if you hog your own infusions at first, and push through to level 5. You can then split off from there as you see fit.

I was curious about this build, I was going for more of the lore build and thus went with Werebat Blood Hunter. However, if I were to pick stock classes, I think I might go Zealot Barbarian and work with my DM to reflavour my bite as a Greatsword (2d6 and usable with Rage). I'd also ask if I could gather the restored HP and Hit Dice that can be used during resurrecting spells. I can't see how this would do more to the mechanics than shift things around for flavour. I would then take the Great Weapon Master feat to gain extra attacks with my BA and more damage with my bites.

I recently built a character that uses a 1 stat basis but not in constitution. I built a Ranger who only requires Wisdom as their stat. Rangers have the fighting style Druidic Warrior where you get 2 cantrips from Druid Spell List. I picked up Shillelagh and Magic Stone which gives me great range and melee options and as a ranger i can make great use of this with my core class features. What ever my second highest stat is goes into constitution but im not the tank, nor am i focusing on concentration spells unless i hang back with my bag of rocks. When i first saw this video i wondered if there was any other 1 stat builds and surprisingly enough there are a few different options that only really require 1 stat, Hexblade Warlocks & Artificers really only require 1 Stat and have ways of negating the need for any other stat. Invocation for Advantage on Concentration Checks regardless of what triggers it for Warlocks or False Life for Always Free Temp HP. Infusion for Artificers to auto pass a failed Concentration Check or Strength Checks is great options for them. A Constitution Only build was wickedly cool to see new options that I wasn't aware of and led me to looking up ways to do this with other classes.

If you roll abysmally low, you actually only need at minimum a 13 in a stat (or 11 if you rolled incredibly terribly and can add your ability score increase to it) because then you can multiclass into artificer, which at 3rd level you can choose armorer and negate the need for 15 strength

A point of order; the only penalty for failing to meet the 15 STR requirement of plate armor (assuming you are proficient) is a loss of 10 feet of movement speed. Given that Dhampir already have a higher movement speed then average, you could drop STR off a cliff and still be the same speed as a dwarves, halflings, and gnomes.

I'd def grab Shield Master feat to negate the issue from dex saves being weak, find a + shield too! Otherwise magic initiate to take hex (extra necrotic damage to bite so cant heal, but give enemies disadvantage on strength checks for grappling), OR that tasha's feat that grants hunter's mark which DOES count as extra piercing damage so it will count towards healing from an improved bite.

Ive been planning this build for a few weeks now, and depending on the way you wanna go, It can be improved a lot. First of all, by no means get heavy armor. Either go stone sorcerer 1 if allowed or barbarian and get armor from con (and dex) from barbarian) for 4 points less asuming pointbuy. You can hit 19/20 easily too. With aberrant dragonmark chill touch and firebolt are nice if you go damphir or range, but you could also take shocking grasp, go melee and pick dragonborn for the con based dc breath weapon. and while rune knight is a great option, echo knight is also dependant on your constitution adn giving you more dpr with unleash incarnation ( I personally dont really like rune knght, but also don't think is the best choice) All in all, the best Ive come up with is either barbarian or stone sorcerer at fisrt level, damphir with at least 14 dex and max possible con, and go fighter or rogue for the asis. Take tough and thematic feats too such as piercer. Stone sorcerer 6 if allowed is very neat too choosing the adecuate spells, or 4 evels in bear barbarian for the resistance, even if you don't get rage bonus. If not raging, geting hunters mark also increases your dpr and healing a lot, and so does getting devils sight for the darkness combo, or true invisibility. In short, if you are melee you wanna crit as much as possible, if you are range you wanna be utility. Focus your secondary stats or asis in that after getting extra attack and watch your dm hate you

If Dhampir teeth are worth at least 1 Silver, since they're considered a simple weapon, you can use them with Booming Blade or Green Flame Blade, both of which are on the Sorcerer spell list. Booming Blade is best for tanking, since it damages creatures that move, and Green Flame Blade is best for damage against multiple targets. By the way, Green Flame Blade scales off of your spellcasting ability for some of the extra damage. Of course, you'll need DM approval, but I feel like it's worth a shot.

What do you mean 2d4+5? After all the bite only deals 1d4+CON mod and the addition from Giant's Mite gives us either a bonus 1d6, 1d8 or 1d10 depending on our level and the Fire Rune once we invoke it deals an additional 2d6 fire damage meaning the most we're going to do with an attack is actually 1d4+1d10+2d6+5 now the fire rune will only trigger once however if they fail that strength save they will take an additional 2d6 fire damage every round and will be restrained meaning they have disadvantage trying to hit anyone and everyone has advantage on trying to hit them. Our damage while not the best our overall durability is insane, think about it even if we just dealt 1d4+5 that would be at worst 6 hit points we regain and at best 9 hit points we regain per attack, at 5th level we have two attacks, on average we will be regaining 2x 7.5 = 15 hit points, that's more than what a maxed out wisdom cleric could heal with cure wounds which is 13 at max, not including life domain. If the DM also has those manuals and tomes that increase stats, that would be a good way to flesh out the weaknesses of the build as you can read one of each to increase each stat and only the one you read looses it's magic, if you find two of the same I don't see why you wouldn't be allowed to read both in order to gain +4 to the stat so if you find multiple of the ones that increase constitution you can raise that constitution quite a bit higher. Sadly with this build you did leave out the fact that the bite is non-magical so once you start fighting the creatures that are immune to non-magical attacks will suck as then the whole point of this build is null and void unless of course your DM can homebrew an item to fix that issue but you have to have a nice DM for that to even be considered
