The band only had two albums both of which were absolutely amazing. Great songwriting great playing and Diane Warren.

It's not just Bad English it's John's solo work. I saw him in a 300 seat venue 3 years ago. John is incredible.

"When You Love a Woman" was #1 on the AC chart. I know that's not the main Top 40 chart, but it was still quite an accomplishment for a band that had been gone for ten years and came back with a mediocre album in the midst of the grunge era.

Diane Warren was just nominated (for the 9th time) for an Oscar and lost (for the 9th time). Amazingly she’s won an Emmy, Golden Globe and Grammy. So if she would have won an Oscar, she’d be just a Tony award away from the EGOT.

He permitted Love and Theft to record their version of If You Ever Get Lonely and it became a hit in country music! JW is underrated. And his solo songs not named Missing You are underplayed.

another frontman you have mentioned who i thought really is another one of a kind voice, though much like Steve is Kevin Chalfant, in the Storm, chk the cut "Show me the way"

A lot of tracks for a third album floats around. How about mixing and producing them? (Frontiers records)
@chrisdymmel29346 жыл бұрын
Not likely that there would have been a third album anyway, at the time Bad English fell apart Can and Waite had sworn to never work together again and Neal and Deen were already doing demos with Hardline.

Waite is extremely hit & miss these days.

On the 2nd album, like Straight to Your Heart. Underrated and hardly played in US radio. John Waite should play this song more! That was their only hit from that album bc the record company did not push the other songs. Related. Instead of fighting Neal Schon, Ross Valory should have reunited with The Storm. Steve Smith could come along. Kevin Chalfont and Josh Ramos can still perform well!

Disagree somewhat, the Backlash album was quite weak and had a lot of filler. But it has one great ballad in "Time Stood Still" that is actually better than either "When I See You Smile" and "Price of Love".
@davidbalzano70256 жыл бұрын
Bad English could have been bigger. 1st album had 2 big hits plus a couple of minor hits like Possession and Forget Me Not. Backlash in retrospect was good too but times and tastes changed. I enjoys John Waites Rough and Tumble and many of his well worth seeking out solo albums like Temple Bar from 1995.

I liked Backlash. "Straight to My Heart" is awesome. I thought the first album had some filler but I like about every song on the second album. the problem is grunge had just hit when Backlash came out and it was buried and never got airplay, promotion and did not tour behind it.

Diane Warren is no longer a great songwriter. I'm not sure what happened. Perhaps the big wigs that control the music industry has a leash on her songwriting limits.

Screw #1 !!!! Yeah, it makes money, but to me, a song that reaches #1 is usually too Teenybopper....

Respect Journey but weak band, AC/DC opened up for them in San Antonio I. The late seventies and blew them away. Respect them but Journey was a female band
