Bo Nix is the wildcard of the first round qbs taken. He can either be really bad, or really good. It’s hard to tell right now, but I think he’ll be great for Denver. His poise, and quick processing in the pocket mixed with his solid arm strength, and underrated mobility would make him an immediate starter on any team that has a need at qb. Time will tell, and I think he can do better than some of the qbs taken before him like Drake Maye, and JJ McCarthy. This was a good pick for Denver because they had to do something at qb, and Nix wasn’t making it to the 3rd round, which was Denver’s next pick after their 1st. Better to pull the trigger and hope, than to not get him, and roll out with Zach Wilson and Jarret Stidham for the whole season.

Sean’s never developed rookie QBs n generally doesn’t like young QB. If he misses on Nix it’s curtains for HC SP. Personally I don’t think he has done a good job in Denver. He handed out a bunch of bad big $$ contracts that haven’t panned setting their cap back further when they have almost no top picks at the time. He brought in a horrific coaching staff hiring arguably the worst DC in football n they made no progress last season besides once again deciding to blow it up and start all over again at QB. Man I am just glad AZ owner Mike Bidwill saw that Payton wasn’t worth the money let alone a 1st round pick the Saints wanted in return for SP. Both GM Monti Ossenfort and his wingman assistant GM Dave Sears saw they could keep all of their picks and yet stills still land one of the best young coach’s in the NFL n even better staff. They made a tremendous move passing on SP. just look at Denver and the improvement they haven’t made since Payton got there and now look at Arizonas roster 15 months ago compared to today. It’s night and day AZ has done a far Better job. Arizona should be back in the playoffs thanks to Montis hardwork.

His big nock out of college was arm strength. Does he have a Herbert arm? No can he accurately hit a 60 yarder? 100 percent. What will make him good in the league is how fast he processes. Tom Brady made a living picking apart defenses short to mid range. Bo is capable of doing the same with the right players around him... Troy Franklin was the steal of the draft. Dude was a 1st rounder.

If you go frame by frame in the first highlight, Nix starts throwing that ball right when the WR makes his brake. The reason that’s important is, if you throw it any earlier, the WR could break one to two yards later, and it could be severely under thrown. But, if he waits, he knows exactly the distance he needs to throw the ball. And the most important factor… if you give a DB an opportunity to see the ball in the air before the WR makes his break, it makes it easier for the DB to make a jump on the ball when the WR makes his break, instead of waiting and making sure the DB is still reacting to the WR. I know it’s common for people to say they’d like a pass to come out earlier, but that’s because they never take that other factor into account. I used the same tactics as a defender in basketball, which is why I stole the ball a lot from people that passed the ball before their teammate made their break, for their catch move in the post…or on the perimeter.
@BaNgInHeAdS
@BaNgInHeAdS 20 күн бұрын
Not exactly. They are usually throwing to a spot with a certain timing. It is the WR job to make sure he is making his break at the right time to get there when the ball gets there. It is the QBs job to look at the coverage so he knows what spot to put the ball so the DB isn't going to be there. These guys aren't out there reacting to things like they are in high school.

Thanks for the video. I've watched a couple of other game tape breakdowns and they basically say the same. It's alarming how a lot of the "experts" seem to disregard most of the intangibles these days. Rather than just heighth & arm strength, I believe Bo's vision, accuracy, quick release & mental processing project well into today's pro game. I also think having a football coach for a father helped him immensely. I guess we'll see how it goes. Call me crazy but I'm kinda stoked to see how Zach Wilson does in camp as well. This might actually be a fun year to watch for a change.

The coach in me suspects that concentrating on the short completions may have *started* as a healthy focus, he _has developed_ a slight fear of throwing long. Here's the thing though: it may be the end result of not using the muscles required enough. I think that he *needs* to build up all side muscles like lats then work on his lower back. If he can get more of the Dan Marino twist going, that'll launch the ball despite his tendency to throw overhand. Overhand lacks power throwing a football. Pure guessing. But when he launches a deep ball, it's like he doesn't fully wind up. So that's lack of muscle memory.

As a duck fan this is my feelings toward Bo Nix from the time he announced he was coming to Oregon up until now. I was upset Bo was coming to Oregon when I first head the news. I, like many others did see Bo as that great of a QB. He was careless with the ball & tried to make every play by force bad throws which most of the time ended up an intercepted or being sacked for big losses in yardage. It just felt like he was never in control of the team nor himself. Fast forward to 2022 & Bo showing up to Eugene. While the first game against UGA didn’t go our way, nor anyone else’s when they played the defending Natty champs, I saw a different Bo. He was changing from that careless with the ball type of QB in a more polished version. 2022 turned out to be a decent season that showed Bo really took huge steps in game. Unfortunately during the UW game he hurt his ankle & was unable to use his legs to the same ability he was prior to getting hurt. But he still played every game & didn’t let that ankle injury stop him from competing. He just had to rely on his arm more without the ability to run. The 2023 season Bo decided to run it back one more time before going to the NFL & I honestly believe doing that is why he was so highly selected as most thought prior to 23 that Bo was a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Bo’s ability to read a defense & check into the right play is a highly valuable skill that isn’t recorded on a stat sheet. For those that want to see how good he is pre snap & taking the offense into his own hands just go watch the “Us vs Them” recap of the Utah game. You’ll head the coaches talking over the headset saying “Bo just switched the play. I don’t know what play he just called” prior to taking the snap. That play Bo called on his own was absolutely perfect against the defense Utah lined up ore snap. I could go on all day about Bo but I’ll simply say this. Bo is a very intelligent QB who will fit great in Payton’s style of offense. He can make all the throws but also won’t hesitate to take dink & dunk passes in order to keep the ball secure & the chains moving. Last but certainly not least, he is a leader. When Oregon failed to make the CFP Bo could have said his goodbyes & opted out of the bowl game as many other highly ranked draft prospects do in order to avoid unnecessary injury that close to the draft. But Bo being the leader he is didn’t want to abandon his brothers & decided to take the field with them one last time. Denver drafted 2 amazing dudes out of Oregon & bronco fans should be very excited about getting Bo & Troy!

I think Troy Franklin being a later day 3 pick was a bit of reach, they would of been better served by drafting an OL or another RB and then drafting CO 6”0ft/180pd Xavier Weaver who’s an absolute stud running 4.42 with a 37in vertical. Weaver had a late 3 early 4th rd grade but had surgery that dropped his weight to 165 afterwards which is why he went undrafted . Now healthy n hydrated again he’s 181LBs and in terms of talent I think he’s better than Franklin as he’s an elite extremely polished route runner who can run a full tree where Franklin favors two go n slant routes. Weaver gets easy separation thanks to his route running and is explosive w/37in very n 10ft+ broad jump, 1.51 10YD Split meaning his agile n good in short areas. And he’s a very good deep threat. Due to his surgery he ended up going undrafted by was one of the highest paid players signing for $250K guaranteed at signing plus game checks. I thought Denver could of went after him instead then used that 102nd pick elsewhere

@CanikFan 16 күн бұрын
@@klsavenue2 I think you guys got a great pick for sure. One thing Bo reminds me of is Tom Brady. Not saying he will be that but just the way he approaches the game. Brady made a living off throwing the mid range shots & getting the ball out fast in order to avoid getting hit/sacked. Bo is very similar in that way. He is good at pre snap reads & getting the ball out to his play makers. Keeps the chains moving and limits the risk of turnover which is why he only had 3 INTs last season & 1 wasn’t even his fault. If he stayed at auburn his whole career he most likely ends up being a 5th or 6th round pick for the reasons I stated in my OP. Spending 2 years at Oregon really helped him to improve his game & find that love for the game again that he lost at auburn by the way auburn fans treated him. I’m no expert on other teams rosters as I only pay attention to my own team. But if they can build a solid Oline around Bo & have a solid defense I absolutely think he will get you guys past KC. As a duck fan I love that 2 teams in your division have 2 Oregon QBs now & since I don’t have a dog in the fight I get to sit back & watch Nix & Herbert battle it out twice a year!

Look at his completion percentage. Sure, there were a lot of dinks and dunks, but that is what they asked him to do and Sean Payton is also going to want him to play that way. When a QB relies too much on improv and athleticism, it gets schemed against and exploited. You want them to have to run themselves ragged through the game like what started happening to Caleb. Even when it works, you are much more likely to get hit. What you want is a QB that doesn't rely on it like a crutch but pulls it out when you don't expect it.

I like your breakdown of the tape. I think you highlighted a lot of Bo Nix's "backyard/streetball" skills, and while having those is important for the NFL, I think a closer look at his on-schedule plays shows you that he has plus ability on the "blue-collar" down and distance situations. He may be the best QB throwing off of his back foot, but if he can learn to hitch and step into more of his throws under Sean Payton, he should take a massive leap forward as a passer. To see what I mean, I suggest looking at Kurt Warner's QB Confidential film breakdowns, if you haven't already. 😊

Unless you were blind last year the broncos couldn't even slow down the run much less stop it. I'm not sold on VJ as the DC but they could have helped him out with players but they didn't. Reasons I’m not sold on Nix is dude always played bad to mediocre defenses and when he was pressured consistently he wasn’t good, all his good film he has all day to throw and his still accuracy n ball placement still leaves a lot to be desired even with perfect conditions. In the NFL where he’s going to get hit a lot under pressure far more where he has to quickly get through his progressions 1-2-3 on time and in rhythm against NFL Caliber defenses I’m not sold he can I don’t think he’s that guy. QBs who are the 5th or 6th pick in the draft the last of the big name QBs rarely if ever end up working out 9/10 times that man ends up a bust. And if by some remote chance he’s not a total bust I don’t see him ever being a top 15 QB and Denver took him 12th overall. I guess if he sucks n Denver’s in the top 10 next year they can pull an AZ n take Carson Beck or Quinn Ewers n trade Nix for a 12 pack, but at the end of the day you still wasted a 12th overall pick n given the state of Denver’s bad roster they can’t wait premium draft capital like that so for Sean’s sake he better workout.

Sean Payton is a has been that is ridiculously overrated. His ego is in the way of him being successful. I dont care if the Broncos win or lose but I sure do dislike Payton. Bo nix is a mediocre talent that try’s really hard and is a good kid…. Successful NFL starter- I doubt it.

@@Warthogg-wv5wg Ya that’s true, are you impressed with what he’s done with the Broncos so far?? I’m not. He’s smug and arrogant and that’s cool if you’re producing wins and making a team play better than their talent level. I think the team looks lost and has no identity - except a coach who thinks he’s smarter than everyone around him.

Russell Wilson was the broncos identity. How much did you expect a coach to accomplish with a bad qb (who cost draft picks/players/$) and a locker room full of players that would be lucky to a 2nd string on any other team. This team was a literal disaster with Hacket. And this is another rebuilding year-so brace yourself

Bruh, I haven’t watched football since probably 2012. My father texted my brother and I the link to this video as we’re from Denver originally and have been Broncos fans all our lives. Spent many years in Oregon, with my brother actually having been a DB at Oregon under Mike Bellotti. Anyway, the way you breakdown film is quite impressive. I was quite impressed on many levels with the video I just watched. Strong work on the content and cheers to a future of growth and success!! I might actually watch a Broncos game now that the clown took his circus to the Pittsburgh fans. 🫡
