In this episode of Trail Physics, RideHub's Principal Instructor Matt Trotter takes you through riding one of the most troublesome trail features on Rupert, the super popular trail in #Squamish. Many people who ride difficult features still struggle with this element of the trail. Matt dives in deep as to why this feature is such a challenge and provides you some tips to avoid crashing and improving your riding.

Unintentionally watched this video right before riding this trail for the first time. Did exactly what you said and worked like a charm :)

I swear you are a psychic! Still too scared to try this line. Maybe with a pile of crash pads in the middle and a net on the outside. Too bad you don’t climb....awesome video, rich, clear vocabulary, good info.

This is one of the few features that you could actually put pads down to help with a crash!

Another awesome set of tips. Took me ages to master this one, it was the run in line tip that first made it happen for me, but I will use a few of these tips from the video to truly nail it every time in all seasons in future.

So many people forget about how important the run in is to the move. It just makes it easier to hit the first rock straight on. Thanks for the feedback!

Great video... I love the pop-ins and explanation points. Makes it look professional and provides great tips for people that are learning! I've never ridden Squamish, and I'm seeing what I'm missing!

Thanks for the feedback! We think it's important that videos outlining "tips" should have enough background so that they make sense. There are many videos online that only tell half the story or miss really important information so we are hoping to buck that trend and keep the videos informative, but succinct.

Heh..I remember this turn on Rupert. I made it, it wasn't pretty. I think I nearly stalled I was going so slow...I'd love to hit that again after watching this. The entrance into it looks a little more gnarly than when I hit it about 3 years ago.

It's pretty easy to stall on this one if your line is off or you hesitate on the entrance. The entrance might look a little gnarly but even the rocky line isn't that bad with the caveat about the entrance line to the rock.

Rode this only twice, no issues. But only on the second time was i aware of that drop to the right before the feature, because you pointed it out, lol.

Yeah, sometimes it's easier on the brain when you don't know the risks! However, we would always err on the side of knowing what might happen so you can manage it. There is a cheater line down that drop now... :-)
