The Oneida Polka (c.1861)

Some updated information for you. My Great Great Grandfather was the captain of this ship at the time this polka was written. My Great Grandfather was born on the Oneida. The ship was the SS (not USS) Oneida from the European & Australia Royal Mail company. That company was later taken over by the Royal Mail Steam Packet Company. The ship traveled between Britain & Australia during the time my GG Grandfather was the Captain. The link you have in your description is for the USS Oneida, an American vessel. Thanks for posting this music. I found the sheet music recently on the Australian Government site and was pleased to be able to hear the music via your video.

Are these pieces played on a real piano or translated into sound via MIDI? If so, how’d you do it?

I transcribe songs one note at a time from the original sheet music into Musescore and export them as mp3 files. I do own a player piano, however I need to have it tuned and repaired before I can post any videos of it.
