@@GregoryIsom Gregory, tetraprism is just one type of periscope design, not some exclusive Apple innovation. OnePlus re-engineered the periscope module to make it thinner by reorienting the sensor-no need to bring Apple's tri-prism or tetraprism into this unless you're here to flex irrelevant trivia. Maybe take a moment to search what a periscope actually is before jumping in next time. Stay on topic.

@vedran55829 сағат бұрын
No, new EU law that came into effect this year is regarding phones and tablets - they must use USB Type-C.
@TrentonMatthews9 сағат бұрын
And that's USB-C everything. The OnePlus charger is USB-A to USB-C, not USB-C to USB-C, but then again, Samsung doesn't include a charger in the box either, which is USB-C. So, who knows if OnePlus will actually switch to USB-C? I doubt it.
@TheFataltrain9 сағат бұрын
yes its exactly this. EU law requiring USB C on devices also requires manufacturers not to bundle chargers. So wont see any phones doing this in the EU going forward.
@andyH_England8 сағат бұрын
Yes, the EU made two requests: first, only USB-C, which had to be mandated in law as Apple did not want it, and second, chargers would not be included in the box to save on e-waste. The OEMs followed this voluntarily, so there was no need to dictate.

Samsung User here. Just from watching the other One Plus 13 reviews, the photos look amazing. more the style I've been waiting for as Samsung always has the "mobile phone" look to its pictures - you can never mistake them for DSLR images. The OP 13 design is great. I hate the square brick of a S24 Ultra design. The price is the same as a Samsung base model after discounts/promo, and some markets will get the charger, a case and an applied screen protector on the phone. Personally, I love curved screens and smaller phones - up to 6.5". Considering the above, this is quite a harsh review - why is that that when Samsung or Apple decide to not include accessories and charge a fortune for them separately, its ok, but when alternate brands do anything different, they're portrayed negatively!? Samsung is still charging at 25W - yes the Ultra says 45W but its only about 10 min less, and the iPhone 16 still has 60 Hz refresh rate in 2025! One UI has great features, but can get really slow and laggy at times - as soon as you use another device, you'll realize how fast a different OS can be!

@rob83119 сағат бұрын
I generally like your videos but it felt like you didn't research enough for this one. The reason there is no charging brick for models sold in Europe is due to new regulations implemented by the European Union. IMO OnePlus 13 is in most aspects better phone than OnePlus 12. It's main disadvantage for me compared to OP12 is flatter screen. It's a large phone and flat screen combined with slimmer body and slippery back make it way more uncomfortable to hold than OP12. Increased price and no included charger is for sure a problem in Europe. Both OP 11 and OP 12 could be called "best phone under 1000 €", but now the official starting price is 1049 €, which rises it above the magic 1000 € limit. Interestingly, during the time I tested the OP13, I took quite a lot of long zoom photos and not even once saw the AI zoom icon pop up...

OnePlus are in a great spot to steal people away from Samsung, Google and Apple right now. At least for me, I've been excited to upgrade to the S25 Ultra, but from all the leaks we've gotten, it's just a bit boring. The OP13 has so many great quality of life improvements over the competitors. New battery tech, ultra fast charging, proper IP68 and IP69 rating WITH Aqua Touch 2.0 (you can just use this thing in the shower now). Even small things like extended Bluetooth connectivity that I deal with every day when I walk out to the kitchen and my earbuds disconnect and then I need to wait for them to reconnect. Also the screen has great tech that reduces eye strain compared to all the competitors who don't have this (yet). You said it at the start of your video, it's really the sum of all these little pieces that make it a great phone and why I'm switching from Samsung this year. I know it's more expensive than last years phone, but with it still being $300 or even $400 cheaper than other flagships, it's a no brainer for anyone looking for a change of pace and is bored with the stagnant smartphone industry as a whole.

@Photo00219 сағат бұрын
There is Master mode now.
@LTEAndroid7 сағат бұрын
@Photo0021 I believe that just gives you the ability to adjust saturation, contrast, sharpening, etc no? What are RAW capabilities of the device? Is there computational RAW photography like expert raw on Samsungs. I won't be going back to OnePlus until they re include it

I'm still good with my OnePlus 11. It's going to get Android 16 and 17, so once I'm at the end of updates, or the battery is failing, then I will upgrade.

One thing I can't stand about the phone is the big circular camera bump... That's enough reason for me not to buy it, but I know I love everything else about it... I can't help it tho, it just throws me off

So what is the paradox ?

The clickbait paradox looool
@michaelcorcoran87688 сағат бұрын
The most charitable explanation I could give is that the OnePlus 12 is also really good so you don't really need to buy the OnePlus 13. That's the paradox maybe? I mean you could say that about pretty much every major flagship that comes out lately. At least among the ones that get long updates. Google, Samsung, Apple, OnePlus etc....

wdym 900$ if you have a EU version it costs 1150EUR for 256gb
@michaelcorcoran87688 сағат бұрын
The US prices are incredibly competitive. I think it's 899 but they're also giving you $100 off just a promise to recycle an old phone. Pre-order bonus and a free $300 watch. All of that said I'm not buying it because I have enough phones that are still being updated. I don't know that maybe in a couple years I'd buy this phone if I needed a new one and it was on the resale market.
@kyrylobordiuh39968 сағат бұрын
@@michaelcorcoran8768 that's cool, we also have like -50EUR for preorder then some amount for actually giving away your old phone + free buds or watch but it still starts at 1100EUR here, and author is from UK I guess.

Ok I've noticed one thing; on every review of the OnePlus 13, the video samples look awful. Like it's jittery and horrible in quality. Is this like a KZbin thing? Has anyone addressed that yet?

I do like the feel and look, but the new tetchraprism lens for the telephoto plus the overall camera processing I'm not the biggest fan of. Everything else is perfect. Will stick to my pixel 9 for now

It's a beautiful phone if it only had the Periscope zoom lens it would have been perfect. It would have truly been a rockstar. It's still a good phone

If they actually make a 13 mini, matching the vivo x200 pro mini, then I for sure will forgo either upgrading my fold 5 for the s25 ultra or pixel 10 pro

Toughest review I've seen on this phone yet. It seems like you lived the twelve. So any changes to that platform wouldn't please you. However, I see your point on the camera sensors though.

EU requested no phonemakers to include charging bricks....

Loads of improvements from the 12 you didnt mention. Aqua touch, glove mode, way better haptics, ip68 and ip69 and a better screen. If u wanna zoom over 6x you buy a vivo but then you have a massive camera bump. The slight rim is because the faux leather version is basickly just on top of the glass.

The same person accepted a phone with much worse battery life, charging speed, network, and processing power, and copied the design of a main competitor, at a higher price than the OnePlus 13. Weird, those enthusiasts nowadays.

This review wasn't compelling. No real reason why the reviewer found OP13 underwhelming yet found last year's model phone of year - they are virtually the same with OP13 incrementally improving every aspect, then a stupendous battery and processor. I suspect a lot of bias in this one

And display, and aqua touch, ip69, super Bluetooth, find my phone feature, etc... I just think he wasn't very interested in doing a good video.

Honestly I think this is a step in the wrong direction from the One Plus 12. This is also great reviewing / reporting as a bunch of other tech reviewers don't really keep close tabs on this critique and just lap up the speccs.

They always have something to say about the cameras and make it a big deal but when it comes to the horrible charging for Samsung's and Apple's it's not that big of deal.

The EU is stupid for that law not to bundle with phone. Now consumers will buy it separately and separately ship and separate dispose of those boxes and actually increasing the carbon footprint. EU are morons lol
@volatilememory933824 минут бұрын
Lol talk about irony. The EU regulation for USB C only rechargeable devices (i.e. devices with a rechargeable battery) requiring a USB C port. Does the OnePlus wall charger have a rechargeable battery? The OnePlus charger uses a USB A port but they had previously provided a USB A to USB C cable. The removal of the charger has nothing to do with the EU law and everything to do with keeping a higher profit margin for OnePlus.

Thanks for the review. I feel my own reservations were justified to hold back just now. yep getting screwed over for the power adaptor is a big deal. just not sure about this phone tbh. I can get approx 19% off the price off the 16/512 model plus another £50 and trade in for my old phone so £899 is about 600 but I feel the phone is lacking in camera quality. Also no UWB, why, the chipset has it built in. The OnePlus 13 Series Winter Launch Event was just all hype. I am awaiting the s25 Ultra as well, though price on that will be considerably more, but Samsung will have better everything.

Why did you make it look like Oneplus was the one to decide to not include charger in box It's the EU law which sucks and made Oneplus do it,every other country has a charger
