My three knives are those that I have. * A Terävä Jääkäripuukko 140, Carbon Steel. * An Opinel Nbr 8 Stainless .. EDC. * A Swiss Army Knife (Model ?) bought back in 1968 .. I have others but this is my favourite .. got it during my National Military Service. Others with great sentimental value include a Solingen Bowie bought back in the early 70's, a Kershaw Outlaw Bill Folder from the 80's, an Okapi Folder in Carbon Steel (bought 1972 in South Africa at the local Mine Concession Store on the Gold Mine that I worked on .. used (and abused) mainly Underground .. a real work horse).

I only have 4 knives. 1) Bark River Bravo 1.25 LT in CPM 3V 2) Fallkniven F1X 3) Morakniv Garberg Carbon 4) Spyderco Paramilitary 2 in CPM S35VN with black blade coating (folder) Pretty happy with them. If I get more in the future, the next on my list would be a smaller Bark River, and/or a folder from Benchmade. All of the fixed blades I have were inspired by the useful information in DBK videos. Keep up the good work! Would love to see more steel performance comparisons, especially for folders.

@@rogierdalsemvan8204 when I saw Lionsteel m4 few years ago I knew that it is my perfect knife and I wanted it ever since. I could not afford it for 150, but I had luck few weeks ago and found it new for 90 euro. And when I have it now in my hand it is even better than imagined. It is really my perfect knife. Im glad to hear that you have good experience with it.
@greekveteran2715

@@rogierdalsemvan8204 Lionsteel M4 as most knives with v edge, needs a bit of convexing to remove that v edge. Also you have to raise that bevel, because it's not only too thick behind the edge, it also has too thick edge bevel angle . I admit it has the best handle ergos out there!! Armatus makes some great kydex sheaths for it! Best general use knife, at that size. Pair it with an axe and a Bahco saw and you 're golden!!

My Terävä Skrama 240, Carbon for chopping and stuff (the obvious choice), my Terävä Jääkäripuukko 140, Carbon for carving and woodling work, and for EDC, I have to go with my Civivi Odium, as my Steel Will Cutjack C22 is to large for legal carry in Denmark. I would prefer the Cutjack since it is the perfect pocket knife; super slim/flat but still holds amazing ergonomics and the blade is basically a small kitchen knife, capable at anything you throw at it.

I actually thought quite long about this. My choice (of the knives I actually own) would be: 1. TRC Apocalypse (DBK edition with convex grind) - love it for the woods, almost nothing this thing cannot do 2. White River M1 - my go-to compact fixed knife, has been around the world with me and serves as a rugged all-purpose knife 3. Spyderco Shaman - hands down my most carried EDC folder, very tough and also fun to fidget ;) Then again, it would break my heart to ditch all the rest. All that beautiful steel...

Please, please, please test 2 identical Bark River knives, one in Cru-Wear, and the other CPM 3V. Do 5 feathersticks, ferro rod fire test, then rope cutting until it doesn't cut paper. I think testing in this order would give everyone a good idea of which steel would be best for their necessity. I spend 5-6 days at a time backpacking, and this would simulate real use. You guys rock!

My 3 based on what I do most: 1. Mora Robust. It’s inexpensive and reliable. I have it hanging on my bench in the garage. I can also use it camping or fishing. So it would serve multiple roles. And it can be easily replaced. 2. EDC. This was a hard one, but I was also thinking multiple roles. It would be the Civivi Praxis. It is a good slicer and it has a nice belly on it. I could clean a rabbit with no problem with this knife. With the 9cr18 blade being comparable to D2 but also being more resistant to rust, I could easily use this for fishing salt or fresh water. It would have no problem cutting bait or lines. And with the slicey blade it would work for food prep as well. Again, the price makes it easy to replace. Plus, it just looks nice. 3. Becker BK2: This would be the camp work horse for obvious reasons.

Late to the party, but I’ll play: 1) Terävä Skrama 2) Garberg in stainless 3) Victorinox RangerGrip 78 The last one isn’t purely a knife, but it’s an invaluable bushcraft tool. We use a very large knife (100cm.) On one end it is attached to a thick wooden beam with an iron ring. The other end, that has a perpendicular handle, can be pulled up and down, forward and backwards. Imagine the force the can be pressed on a piece of wood which is put between the beam and the part of the blade close to the ring. That is how wooden shoes are shaved into form. For the inside we use specially trained woodworms.

I been using the s1 pro with a victornox hunter series. After edcing for 2 years now. Im thinking is just a little heavy and has limitations as for everyday task. The main reason i chose the s1 pro is because its the best batoner for its size. It holds a edge massively well. But i guess i really want to try out the legendary feel of the bark river aurora. Just because of the handle the size and the weight saving. So im open to it especially if you carry a pistol. Saving weight is a must. Especially if your b.o.b weighs 35lbs already.

That was fun! My choice: 1. Cold Steel Trail Master San Mai III, rather than the Falkniven (for the heavy stuff) 2. Cold Steel SRK (either the San Mai III or the sabre grind version), for the belt 3. ESEE Izula II (for the fiddly stuff!).

Here are my top three and why. (This includes multi-tools) 1. The Benchmade SuperFreek: Extremely tough M4 steel, easy to sharpen grind, unbreakable Axis lock, and I got it because of DBK. 2. Leatherman Supertool 200: I have it because my dad gave it to me. It is 20 yrs old and will likely outlast me due to the fact it was previously lightly used. It will always be able to do the especially brutal tasks with all the other tools besides the knife. I can remove hooks from fish and do millions of other tasks. (Also, Zachery Fowler stayed alive for 87 days in Patagonia on Alone season 3 with a leatherman. nuf said) 3. Barkriver Aurora CPM-3V. It can do nearly all bushcrafting, survival, and hunting tasks well. It is the perfect knife to have on your side when you are outside. I just love the bloody thing. (Also Maarten has it.;)

Fowler survived with a Victorinox, not a Leatherman. He had a Swisstool spirit X, he even made a video about it 😅

Being more than likely, I'd go: Bark River JX5 in 3V, Ambush Alpha Gen 2 in 3v, and Long Humphrey Bridger in 52100. I have also a Final run of the Peter Kohler inspired collaboration with Mike Stewart at Bark River, Grizzly in 3V and was tough to leave off. But, the JX5 is just a Brute of a Chopper.

1 My kitchen knife, so I don't starve. 2 My home made knife with a laminated steel mora 1 blade. Because it can do a lot things well. 3 My Opinel no6 with stainless blade, so I can do urban tasks like picnic, shaving, fix clothes and very basic survival stuff. All while carrying just 27g. Though I'd be sad to let go of of a bunch more. All china folders (S&W and elite force) and gifts for the kitchen (stainless butter knifes that rust) can go though.

Good video as always, even made me think. And that's what I love about you guys, you entertain and enlighten us with your wisdom :D So anyway, my three pick would be the Bark River Kephart (great all around knife in CPM 3V, thin but sturdy), the Ahti Janka (smaller back-up puukko, good for edc but it's curly birch handle needs some care) and the Cold Steel GI Tanto (for batoning and heavy duty stuff)

Wich steal is the best for the f1: Vg10, 3g or CoS?
@greekveteran2715
@greekveteran2715 4 жыл бұрын
CoS hands down, then 3g. VG10 is not ideal for such thin grinds they have on their very edges. Actually, they should have used, something like Vanadis 4E or at least CPM154. AEB - L would be the perfect and the most ideal stainless steel, for Fallkniven knives.
