Wow! thank you so much for this detailed info. I appreciate the variance explanation. I'm curious, I do crafting videos and I have a 3.5' by 4.5' working surface, and a 3' top-down height to mount my camera (Canon EOS M50 MKII) what lens would you recommend to for these videos. Right now, I use the kit lens (15mm-45mm), but I find I'm having adjust the camera angle each time I shift from my cutting board to my sewing machine. I'd like to have a single POV that covers the full area. your insight is greatly appreciated!!

I know it’s not ideal, but having 2 cameras really helps when you’re trying to get close ups of different things and cut between the shots in post processing
@thtgrldiana63889 ай бұрын
@@zesh47 Definately a plus... I've tried the multi-camera approach... but it was too cumbersome. Allthough.... in the future... I may rethink this.. I can use an older smart phone for those close-up.... hmmm more to ponder

You said to ask so; here goes. I have a lumix g5 and I'm new to this type of camera. I tried today to film a band on a football field with a 45-150 mm lens from the top of the bleachers and the whole thing still wasn't in frame. What am I doing wrong? And what do I need to fix it?

I have a EOS M50 Mark II EF-M 15-45mm. Would I be able to use the lenses you recommended on my camera if I were to purchase them especially the last one said?
@qqqq-ex8ck Жыл бұрын
You would, with 20$ viltrox adapter, but i wouldn't recommend any of those. 16-35 and sigma 35 are good lenses, but expensive and big. Consider 32 1.4 stm as prime, ef 17-40/4L or ef-m 11-22 as wide-range zoom.

Thank you for all these infos Josh! Would the Canon 85 mm f1.8 would be enough for photographing wildlife? I am looking for a lens with a big focal length as well as a low aperture? Does that exist? I know it might sound stupid (I'm a total beginner) but are they 250 mm lens with an aperture of 1.8? 😅
@JoshWiniarski Жыл бұрын
The Canon 85mm f/1.8 isn't really a wildlife lens. It can work in a pinch for bigger animals like a deer, but even then you'd have to be somewhat close to it. If you're willing to drop some money, one of the most well-known sports/wildlife lenses is the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 (there's also a cheaper 70-200 f/4). If you're on a budget and shoot on a Canon crop sensor DSLR, I highly recommend the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6. One thing to know is the longer the focal length, the blurrier the background so 250mm at f/5.6 actually looks quite nice. Hope this helps 🙂
@FlorenceRobbiano Жыл бұрын
@@JoshWiniarski Yes! It does! Thank you Josh!
@joshmcdzz6925 Жыл бұрын
if you get a 250mm at f1.8, you will throw that lens away.. why? It will be the most difficult lens to use - heavy, giant, unable to get focus since you're already dealing with compression and wide aperture. Your depth of field will be like an 1/8inch or less.. totally not worth it.. there's a reason long telephoto lenses these days are in the f5.6 ballpark

hello Josh I hope you'll be well, I am a graphic designer and is my first time with product photography and at the same time video for products. I want to buy a mirrorless camera for both things but that is not so expensive, could you recommend me one? Regards from Dominican Republic.

Hey, thanks for reaching out! If you're looking to get the BEST camera for your money, I almost always recommend buying used (most of the gear I've bought over the years I've bought used, and never had an issue). From Canon, something like a "Canon R10" or "Canon RP" would be a great place to start, but definitely shop around for deals!
