Just a bit of information, if you put 2 wireless connectors touching each other, in a multiplayer server, you can cause problems… as the network tries to find the fastest and shortest way to the controller…. I've never used AE2 before or any tech mod like it, and I have no idea what you use these "channels" for, or what you need 21.5k of them, but the algorithm has brought me here so I guess I'll watch the whole thing
@KSAW007 сағат бұрын
let me try n explain as fast as i can. AE2 is a logistics mod that lets you set up automation for crafting and processes like smelting. It also interacts with machines from other mods: so a recipe like (64 stone -> 64 smooth stone) can be put in a furnace and the system can now make smooth stone from stone 64 at a time! AE2 also offers storage in the form of disks which let you store millions of items. All this happens over a network and each network needs a controller if its bigger than 8 channels. Now, to finally answer the question: a channel is anything that takes something in/out of the system. Each pattern provider (autocrafting machine) is a channel, every import / output is a pattern. Every disk drive is a channel... So you can imagine with a big enough factory, youd need a whole lotta channels! This however is also a extremely overkill setup and an exercise into whats possible

I haven't played modded much, but how does this work out to 21k channels? I'm clearly missing something but it seems like if you used every face of every block inside a 7x7x7 cube it would work out to just over 2k channels. Is it being multiplied somewhere?
@KSAW00Күн бұрын
@@Gxaps each face of the controller =32 channels. Each p2p can take 32 channels and transmit them over a single channel. P2P's are then bundled together and (if you build it as in the video), you get 12 bundles of 32 p2ps from the faces, 6 bundles with 32 from interior corners, 2 with 24 from the 2 leftover interior corners and 3 bundles with 16 channels from the very middle. Each of these terminates into their respective wireless connections to be used elsewhere(subcontroller). The math for p2p channel count works out to (12+6)x32 + 2x24 +3x16 = 672 p2p channels(each p2p connects to a face of the controller, thus the guide asks for 672 p2ps). From the first couple sentences, to get the total channels we simply do 672 x 32 = 21,504. Lemme know if that made sense

The mod AE2 is a logistics mod. In its default configuration it requires channels for any connections that move items around. Each face of the controller block supports 32 such connections and to maximize on this concept, cores such as these are used to het channels to where you need them. P2P tunnels are frequently ised cz they take 32 channels from the face, and only use 1 channel on the cable. Hope this helped !! :)

Just if someone is interested the 3-D hilbert cube that fits into 7x7 is 127 blocks, all but two has 4 sides available, whilst 2 have 5, 1 side will be used for powering this so 126*4+5=509, if we tightly pack all this we can have 509*32=16288 channels If all of that is used purely for storage that's, 16288*65536(Biggest AE storage cell)*10(ME drive capacity)=10 674 503 680, fun fuct, assuming the world size of 60 000 000 blocks, you'd need around 3500 of them to store one layer, if you use extra cells its biggest cell 16 777 216, you can store 2 732 672 942 080 blocks, 1400 to store one layer of world. Math might be made really poorly on this one

this is completely over kill, dont build this unless you know what you are doing! if you are new to ae2 simply build a 7 blocks long pillar, you can expand on that very easy by making more pillars and connecting them diagonally.
@KSAW00Күн бұрын
Yes, but the point for the video's to be guide to explain the process and thinking. I say "build it because its overkill, if you dont know how to, youll learn something!". You can always make something like this at a smaller scale

Or, ya know, you could just use Refined Storage.

@@lukecarroll19 sure! But why would i use a slower mod that is worse for cpu efficiency AND unavailable for more recent game versions? Ofc its a sandbox and you do what you want, im just waiting on RS2

This is more like the endgame. I go thru setting up a basic system in my ongoing survival series. Realistically, you can get away with something a quarter of this size and still have room to spare. Dont be discouraged too fast now!

Yeah okay i think this thing has more storage then you will probably need for continuesly playing and collecting blocks for atleast a 1000 years

havent played with ae2 since 1.7.10. what version is this and why everything looks awful
@KSAW002 күн бұрын
this is 1.21.x . Everything looks 'awful' probably because of the light mode reskin for AE2, however darkmode is available as texturepack to take it back to the dark/grey textures for the machines. Personally, im a big fan of the re-skin
