Hey, just a few pieces of additional info for anyone interested. To elaborate on Ghosting: DayZ introduced a system long ago that prevents loading into specific places when you server jump, so don’t worry about protecting bases. No one can re-login to the middle of one. What I was trying to illustrate was, if you’re tracking someone or you’re in a standoff, they can switch server, causing them to log back in to a new spawn point. They then run back to your location and flank. There was an excellent video of someone doing it in a stream like a month ago but for the life of me I can’t find it! This is a huge help, Just bought the game after watching hundreds of streamers videos it just looked so interesting had to try it out. right now I still learning how to live more than a few minutes be for someone kills me. I'm glad! Keyboard controls are difficult at first. I'd recommend trying PVP servers on PC. They're about as close as you can get to Call of Duty, which is a benefit when learning a new platform. They definitely help improve your handle of controls as a new player and with regards to DayZ itself you get better at shooting, aiming, reloading, bullet drop and a bunch of other things. Be prepared to die a lot at first, but you will get better and so will your muscle memory =]

The production value on this video is incredible. I love the pixelated art. My biggest problem with Day-Z official servers besides ghosting is there are literally people who do nothing but hop from server to server looking for bases to raid, when they find one they tell their raider friends and set a date to go raid it. They will then go raid the base, take all the stuff they want and frequently grief the base as well before logging back into their "home" server bringing all the loot with them. These raiding parties can be huge, so it is not a big deal for them to literally come clean your base out and they may even leave other people to guard their home base on the server while they're out server hopping and raiding. Vanilla/official Day-Z makes it unbelievably easy to raid bases too. Literally all you need are like 5 grenades per gate. Doesn't matter if the gates are made out of wood or metal. But that's literally what these pirate groups do, they'll hop servers looking for bases then put yours on "the list" and next thing you know you get raided and you won't ever see them again because they're constantly changing servers. There is also a really big problem with hacking and cheating and using exploits in general. Like forget about hiding things in stashes or barrels in the water. They'll find those, too.

Thank you, it took me so long haha! Yeah, I think official needs a few rule changes and adjustments too. Base damage definitely, and things like Combat logging for example, as you say people are quick to switch servers, so if you try shoot someone on official, they can just switch servers and avoid any threat while keeping all their gear - it can be quite really frustrating. I lost a base the other week to a hacker and admins refused to do anything. It's like, where do you go from there?

DayZ Reloaded PvE is a newer server but has great staff and awesome stuff, AI patrols with decent loadouts, Zombie mutants, 400+ guns and some sweet vehicles! Also have quests and much more

exactly the info i needed. I have been on reg servers but exploring the idea of mods after about 100 hours. I want to be able to do base building, cash, and traders. pretty much it. finding the info for that is not made easy

Oh, I agree. I always build on communities with high players, it means you have to plan you base well because of high foot traffic, but it also gives you some excellent opportunities to raid. Always check the bottom left of the screen too for little discord links. It's such a great way to meet other people =]

The "this is your story" and do as you want type saying, I agree with that Holy. But I play Rust and unfortunately most people say there's only one way to play at PVP and Chad's and that's it. That's not true though. Got to do what you got to do. Just getting into this game after having it for a year and never playing it. We played on official server as a group of three and a few days ago while we raided a base in a place without windows we all died instantly and at the same time without any gunshot sound. We all knew it was a hacker, we tried to spawn nearby and run to the place as he would never be able to carry all of our stuff alone. My friends reached the place within 8 minutes as soon as they entered the forest next to the place in night, they got killed at the same time again instantly without any sniper sound. We gave up and yet i was sure the hacker would have no way of carrying all our loot (the most important thing to me was a crate with full nbc-gear and two masks inside) as even if he would take our aks-m4s-winchesters etc we could get good loot quite fast again by doing pavlovo a few times. 2 hours later one of my friends reached the place again and found some stuff on the ground, it seems he took a pioneer from us and an m4 with all our mags but still left my winchester and one ak for example so we still could get some good weapons back. Even the crate with the full nbc-gear was there so i told my friend to take the crate and all he can carry and logout right now. We then went on a lower pop server, where we would guess that hacking shouldnt be a thing, cause who wants to hack if hes playing with/against just 7 others at a time? We random spawned and met up in a forest and then bam, instantly killed both of us at the same time again. I randomly spawned very nearby this spot and ran again to take the crate or anything i find and on my way there, like 1 minute before again i get instantly killed without a gun shot and then we all uninstalled the game. We spent so many hours finding this stuff and looting and raided two bases for it. Loosing it in a fight would be sad but acceptable, but loosing it this way is just undescribably disgusting. Especially if u somehow manage to safe some of the good stuff you had and log out from the server where the hacker was to avoid him and on the next server there is another one. Absolutely disgusting... For us its over, we all uninstalled, all im doing now is researching if i can maybe find a community server, without any mods, where we could play normal vanilla dayz, with not too low of a pop for some interactions and where there are no hackers. I didnt really find something convincing enough yet, but this video is a good start, so i can know where to search and see the server details...

1:50 i did something simmilar to this when a sniper killed a friend next to me..... i ran in the oposite direction from the sniper and then went for a hike the long way around showed up behind him with some buchshoot with his name all over it...... Some sweet loot that idiot had hehhehehe

In the server panel it's still vary vague on info about the servers, how do you find more info about the server you are thinking about playing on? Such as server rules, pvp, pve etc. Some severs don't tell you anything in the description.

If I could get on a server. pretty much every time I get kicked because some of some validation error that keeps me from joining. It's super frustrating, because I troubleshoot the problem, and then have to sit in a 10 to 20 person queue, only to find out that it still doesn't work. I spend more time trying to get the mods to update than I do actually playing the game.

Have you tried verifying the mods in your launcher? There may be a mod update holding you back from playing. Happens to me I load in just to get sent to the servers main menu screen

@@jeffblazer2186 Thank you! I appreciate the help. I think I got it figured out. I just realized that steam will not update the workshop items if the DayZ Launcher is open. Once I closed everything out, cleared the download cache, and restarted steam, it downloaded all of the updates.

I have a question. There’s 2 options to join when I’m on community. One says “set up dlcs and mods and join” and the other is “keep current selection and join”. If I don’t download the mods do I still get the benefits from the mods like extra loot and food or do I have to download?

Currently I play Dayz on console Ps5 to be exact been playing for a couple of years now but it's getting a little boring. I even have my own modded server. I know both maps very well, fairly good at PvP, but maybe it's time I switch to PC. Never played PC so this will be all new to me plus I would be playing on a Legion 7 slim which I picked up only about a week ago. Should I switch? PC does look more fun.

Honestly, it's an entirely new experience on PC. Mods change everything and there are several other maps you won't have played that are currently available, making it feel way different. I'd say at the very least it's definitely worth a try=]

It's not possible, you have to just meet up with them somewhere. You can unalive yourself a few times to spawn at the same city making it a lot quicker... and some servers have selective spawns(though still spaces apart to some degree) but other than that, you can't.

Out of curiosity have you guys played 7 days to die? I dont understand the appeal of this game. Im really trying cause its a place I have not explored but it is so inferior to 7 days to die. What do people LIKE about this game? The buildings are all the same and completely empty. I went through 2 apartment buildings. 90% of the doors were locked and ALL the rooms that were not were empty.

I don't watch a lot of Streamers tbh because 5 minutes in it puts me in the mood to play so I end up doing that😅 but someone who does a really good series is Baby Nades. He has episodes usually out monthly but his videos go way back and are pretty exciting. They cover a variety of maps too. I'd definitely recommend him. I think ping is based on where you are. I could be wrong there, but when I try to go on US servers the ping is quite a bit higher(around 120) but they are definitely playable here so I imagine it's reciprocal. You know I haven't actually noticed myself if the British are less shooty than the Americans but now I kind of want to find out ha, what I have had is 'where are you from' and I tell them England and they flat out call me a liar 😂

Don’t ever try to play 99xloot they offer a safe zone and say they want traders but the second you enter the “safe zone” you get threatened to leave or die. Then they call you roaches for being there.. horrible admins horrible laggy crashing server as well

Not always. It's entirely down the the server itself but you can see a list of mods before you enter. But there are many vanilla servers and some with only a few mods to download. I have so many mods downloaded now I hardly ever have to download new ones 😅
