I saw the 73 when it lived at the old GCR Finmere station site. Was given a tour of the engine room by the then owner. Bought for £1 from Eurostar, but they had to pay the transport costs. It had a fault on one cylinder, hence the price, that was easily remedied by its ex' RAF engineer owner. The group who owned the site had high hopes of developing it with a line extending south colse to Calvert. However, HS2 takes a route throgh there, and the site is now obliterated.

Wow I love hearing history like that, such a shame it didn't happen but what a wonderful loco it is, hope it stays the way it is as its one of a kind now!
@tingewickmax2 ай бұрын
It's certainly unusual with its drawgear. The loco moved from Finmere for storage to, nearby in Bicester, Graven Hill the former MOD site (last actual army staffed and run railway unit). The Bus group mentioned had a bit of history with the Kent and East Sussex railway, hence the Finmere set up.

No worries! Probably one of my favourite railways to visit regularly, such a unique experience with what you have to offer at both ends and with what's running looking forward to next year!

Wow I have the same situation in Sittingbourne with the SKLR, Bredgar and Faversham Miniature Railway all on my doorstep too, shame the councils in both areas aren't highlighting theses places which I will be pushing for in the future 👌🏻

I enjoyed this video. I will have to visit there myself someday. Nice to see the Class 210 trailer car and the Class 365. I hope they can get a Class 769 as then they could run this in diesel mode and if they get 769008, they would technically own 319008 Cheriton that did run through the Channel Tunnel back in 1993. They could renumber it back to 319008 in NSE livery even if its a Class 769 BEMU. The real thing is at Long Marston stored for now. Porterbrook owns the unit, maybe they could donate that one to this railway rather than it ending up being scrapped if no further use is found for it. It has a unique heritage and is a celebrity unit in its own right. Great video and I have subbed, keep up the great work mate.
