I wonder if Tyvoka's death was heavily on Qui-Gon's mind when he first met Anakin. When Anakin makes Qui-Gon for a Jedi after seeing his "laser sword", Qui-Gon offers the possibility that he killed a Jedi and stole it from him. Anakin enthusiastically expresses his doubt and says that "no one can kill a Jedi". Qui-Gon is impressed by Anakin's perceptiveness and apparently great respect for the Jedi, but he sadly smiles and replies, "I wish that were so". It's easy to imagine that Qui-Gon has seen many of his fellow Jedi die in battle, but fact that Tyvoka died in an attack on a Jedi delegation involving Nute Gunray and the Trade Federation probably left some wounds that were re-opened when Gunray tried to kill Qui Gon and Obi Wan on Darth Sidious' orders. Qui-Gon was one of the Jedi saved by Tyvoka's actions and bravery. He no doubt frequently felt guilt over his rocky relationship with Tyvoka prior to his death. Having just survived another attempt on his and Obi Wan's lives by the Trade Federation, the memory of Tyvoka's death was probably weighing heavily on Qui Gon's mind again. It seems likely that Tyvoka was foremost on Qui Gon's mind when he gave his somber response to Anakin's comment.

Qui Gon had also lost other friends, including Tahl, a fellow Jedi he fell in love with, and not long before episode i, theyd lost another good friend in Anoon Bondara and Micah Giett, so I think losing so manty friends in a short space of time was likely weighing heavily on Qui gon's mind at the time

As powerful and prescient as Tyvoka sounds, it is going a little too far to say that he would have sensed the darkness in Anakin and thus prevent Anakin from joining the Jedi Order. Sensing the darkness in Anakin wasn't exactly a great feat. Pretty much all of the council members could sense it. Qui Gon was unique in his ability to commune with the Living Force and trust his insight, which told him to look past the obvious peril of training Anakin. Qui Gon was unorthodox, but the other Jedi Council members trusted his judgement enough to give Anakin a chance. Tyvoka's ability to see the future might have been among the strongest in the Order, but he also seems very dogmatic like most of the other Council members. It's difficult to imagine Tyvoka being the tipping point against allowing Anakin to be trained.

5:15 We all know George Lucas is a fan of reflecting real-life history and integrating it into his stories. This lowball buying, selling back multiple times overinflated goods, is part of what caused the Civil War. Lincoln had special interest backer industrialists who were fleecing southern farmers and selling back basic goods. Cotton to linen as an example. Linen was used everywhere. From bags to drapes and clothing. Why else would Lincoln blockade Savanah, Georgia, BEFORE there was a declaration of war? Georgia farmers started selling cotton and tobacco directly to the British, cutting out Lincoln's fat cat lobbyists. And that couldn't happen. Slavery was unpopular in the South, too. The elite filth that rules today is the same sort of psychopathic ilk that had slaves. Killary and cigar Bill would've been fast friends with the Calvin Candi sort of megalomaniac. They ran rough shod over poor folks regardless of color, robbing along the way.

Tyvoka is another typical "The Jedi Council is always right" breed of Master. Funny, he says Qui-Gon is "always sure he is right" and "always incredulous if we do not see it his way" which couldn't be further from the truth. There are slews of books that contradict this, including canon novels. Qui-Gon if anything is too considerate of other perspectives and feelings. If anything it's the complete opposite: the Jedi Council is always convinced they are right, and incredulous of those with different views. "I do not believe the Sith could have returned without us knowing"-levels of arrogance. Then again, this comic was published way back in 2001, when everyone on the internet was on the Qui-Gon hate train, Times and perspectives have changed, and now we can clearly see Qui-Gon's wisdom. You don't become Yoda's Master without being pretty special.
