I'm quite surprised that people don't know this more. The in-game demo of Magneto's combo explicitly shows it in action. The combo being auto > bubble > alt fire > auto > alt fire (from bubble).

Something I learned in OW about shields: Don't use your shield to block damage, use it to block moves. Meaning rather than blocking enemy's primary fire, use it to block specific troublesome moves. Like you don't want to be on cooldown because you blocked Iron Man's blast then not have it for his beam or ult.

That can help a lot for any character, supports as well. A kill isn't always needed if it means the enemy will have to back out of the fight. Sometimes I pop a Luna ult or a Peni ult that didn't really result in deaths, but they can still retreat off the objective because you're pressuring them.

People don’t realize the point is to get the enemy to run away. If they’re running they’re not helping their team or capturing the point.

"Dont chase" is a tip for any character. Unless you are capable of getting that kill in a couple seconds, if they got out of sight just leave them. Its an objective based game, kills mean nothing if the payload didnt move.

A really helpful tip I found out as well for shielding teammates is turning on team healthbars for magneto in the settings. It allows you to be way more aware of who needs help and when to pop bubble on them.

This actually is the only Magneto guide you need. I've watched a ton of Magneto ones but most just say the same thing. This was jam packed with helpful tips and tricks regarding all aspects of the character! Appreciate the work you put into this! My struggle with Magneto is carrying games with him. If my team is at least decent, then I get a lot of value from Magneto but I just can't carry games like I do with Thor or Groot with Magneto.

My 2cents on the ult: The only time, and i mean ONLY TIME, you should quick-fire the ult is vs a punisher ult. Legit he fills that thing so quick that if you dont quickfire it he'll just pop it immediately, and a quickfire with all that chargeup will still instakill him. Ive done it several times and it usually catches them completely off guard since punisher ult usually ruins magneto ult.

This is great! Thanks for putting it together. One other small thing I have is if you are gettong rushed by a melee or tank you can use your right-click to push them away. But if that misses or they dash back you can rotate your primary fire and melee to increase your damage output. It can often chase them away as it is unexpected. Its also to do in general when you get too close. You can cycle primary fire, melee, and iron bulwark (as it recharges) to increase damage ouput quite a bit.

One of my favorite things to do with Magneto’s ult is responding to a Punisher ult and sending that damage right back into his face. It can be tricky to pull off because of how fast the ball can pop from his sustain, but man it is always hilarious when they ult and then immediately explode

I always knew how the ult worked but never noticed the “power” bar underneath counting up to 100 when it gets destroyed. So glad you pointed that out cause I always just guessed when the throw when getting shot up like crazy.

Good mentality. You goal is not to get kills its to prevent damage to your team. If someone is running for a healthpack they are not doing damage meaning you win. Its good to have the correct perception about your role so that you are not yelling at yourself for missing a kill.

Great guide!! One very good tip I would add: when fighting close range use your melee attack in between your primary attacks. you can cancel the primary attack animation and sneak a little more damage in there. You can actually win a lot of 1v1's against other tanks this way

20:05 is slightly misleading. His ult additionally collects hitscan, such as the primary fire of Punisher, Hela, Adam Warlock, and others. Punisher Ult especially it will absorb and burst very quickly.

It’s only misleading because of crossover in terminology. If you watched whole video he said it’s a great counter for punisher ult. Hitscans ARE projectiles. He doesn’t mean projectile in a projectile vs hitscan way (Hawkeye v Punisher). He means that it absorbs all projectiles (hitscan and projectile) damage. It doesn’t absorb melee damage or AoE damage.

The fact that Magneto is a near identical copy of Overwatch's Sigma has been great for introducing me to the game 😅 just placed in gold and I have ~7 h playtime. If people are looking for even more tips, Sigma guides are EXTREMELY transferrable. Only real difference is the bubble and ult, both of which are pretty simple to use

Just a small detail ult charge is 4s instead of 5s, and max damage is 300 + 3 * 99 = 597 I don't think you spoke about his melee, it's very slow but I think it does a lot of damage (55 or 65 ? I'm not sure gotta check), I usually use it to animation cancel the left click when brawling at close range on the objective. I'm not sure it's more DPS than landing 2 left clicks, but it's easier to land that a left click direct hit and it saves ammo. The combo I usually do is left click - animation cancel melee - left click - animation cancel right click and it's enough damage to take down a 275hp character. Another good advice (might have missed it) is to block Dr. Strange ult with metallic curtain, it's your job as Magneto to protect your team from this ult when you feel like the Strange is going to have their ult and moves aggressively you gotta save your metallic curtain cooldown and position accordingly to protect your team

a couple extra things, shielding important cooldowns and ults is much better than just shielding damage, same with bubble. And bubble will give you Mag Cannon charge when it ends, regardless if it gets popped or not. it may not fully it up, but it still gives some if it just disappears instead of getting broken.

Mag's ult deals max damage in the center, damage falls off to half to the edge. At max duration(I haven't tested but at 1/4 remaining, it think it deals close to if not 300 damage), the meteor deals 300 damage at the center. The absorption meter adds 100 damage max but I haven't tested its limits. I think when the meter turns read (reaches 80), it adds max damage of 100. I think it absorbs up to 800 damage So at max it deals 400 damage dead center, 200 at the edges. Also Luna ult brings her hp and bonus hp total to 525 so you can't kill her unless someone gets rid of the bonus hp.

The energy bar at the bottom adds 3dmg per point, so at full charge and lets say 50 energy you’ll deal 450 dmg. And at full charge and 99 energy you’ll deal 597 with a direct hit. Also important to mention is that at full charge the explosion radius goes from 6m to 8m. But I think the falloff still stays at 50% after 6m.

@@dboxsonclips Maybe some positioning and spatial stuff? Like, solo tanking with Magneto vs tanking with a Strange vs tanking with a dive tank. It's real tough to gauge when to push vs when to fall back vs when to peel for a support or when you can't afford to peel. Also, what makes good spots to fight on the maps, maybe? Since I'm a shield tank, I kinda get to pick those a lot for the team. I'm also really struggling with the ult, its so hard to aim it properly, while still absorbing some bullets, but without fizzling it to a bunch of team fire. Like, I either don't charge it enough and don't manage to kill the Luna, or it goes over 100 and fizzles, or I whiff the shot because I'm watching the number and not the aim.
