Try refreshing your nat type, and make your port manual, but make sure not to change it. Just keep the port as it is, but change it from automatic to manual. Then join the game from either your camp or a random posse. If it doesn’t work the first time, try it again. It works for me (I play on Xbox)

Tip: when the game tells you that you entered legendary animal Territory. Activate eagle eye then go on your map. There should be a yellow ? Mark it the then go to it. The animal will be in that spot or really close

When I did the poacher missions, I wait till all the poachers are dead and looted, then sedate the caged animal when it comes out and a take a sample. That way they can’t attack you and you get get a sample without having to hunt it down.

I honestly like it. It is extremely slow paced which gives me the option the explore and see this beautiful world again. Kinda like the collector role, just with animals. For the animal compendium in order to trade each set of animals in you don’t need to skin or photograph them you just need to sell their sample to Harriott and once you have sampled all the animals in an area you can trade it in for about $100 and 1000 naturalist xp

If you want an easy way to get legendary pelts you can start a legendary mission then kill and skin the animal to get the pelts and you keep them when you return to freemode.

I was close to her location when a wolf attacked me (like 50ft down the road) so I killed it and she yelled at me. But when I saw her later she just said she wasn't happy, but nothing she could do. I've already killed 2 legendaries, the boar by McFarlane's ranch, and the elk by Cholla Springs and made the coats. I then went bk to her for more tranq ammo. It's weird that we're getting different responses from her. I also loaded Cripps up thx to animal spawns finally being fixed. Update: I was finally able to get into the game and filled up Cripps. I then went to Harriet and she sprayed me. I went back to camp and continued hunting for Cripps. Went bk again, she sprayed me again. This new role makes the Trader obsolete. I don't know what R* was thinking.

I know a good chunk of the playerbase hates this update because it's not robberies or whatever, but personally I adore it. It gives you a reason to explore the world more fully, go to places you might not usually go, and just discover shit in general. It's fun going out and trying to find every animal thats part of a certain set and trade them in. Plus the intractability? Amazing imo. I remember going to do the legendary cross fox mission and found myself saying "Holy shit, it's still going??" (In a good way, it was very fun and interesting). Plus the fixed animal spawns! I've seen like 10 moose since they updated and it's amazing! I can understand why people may be upset it's not what they wanted, but I see a lot of people calling the update trash and its...really not. It may not be what you were expecting or hoping for, but its really not trash

Its also way over priced. You turn in a legendary pelt for $16 then have to pay $350 to $700 for garment sets that dont even look that great, no to mention the coats on them are just re skins of each other. This whole update is basically a ripoff. Designed to just make players lose much more cash and gold than theyll gain.

@@Only1Left yeah you are bullshitting. If by "animal sets" you are on about samples it is really not worth it. Not when the spawns are unreliable asf, I spent over 2 hours trying to find all 14 animals on the desert section for a ram and sheep to not spawn at all. Only got around 20 - 30$ for the 12 (plus extras) which i took back. Legendary animals in the free roam only sell at gus for around $16, and half the time dont spawn, which then unlocks the trapper garment. They cost from $350 - $700. (Garment sets alone) Not to mention once you run out of the sedatives, tonics and other stuff they cost hundreds of dollars to replace with max amount. Theres probably a pamphlet to unlock tho, yet that probably costs hundreds too and a certain role level. Granted role level 5 unlocks them special missions but its really not worth the grind. Not when you can make twice as much money in half the time with the collector and moonshine. And then hunting the animals to refill trader and then sell. Its much more effective. Oh and not to mention you cant be killing animals with the naturalist or the stupid vegan feminist will be mad. And yet the trader role makes you kill animals... its a really dumb role.

You can skin the animals and sell them to Gus via Harriett's legendary missions (she just gets mad). More and more get unlocked as you gain ranks in the Naturalist role. There are variants of a few legendary animals like the Fox and the Wolf that can only be encountered in free roam like a dynamic event or random spawn. They are really tedious to encounter but necessary to get certain outfits from Gus.

For those poacher missions if there is a predator animal then first get up on the cage and shoot the lock(you can do it at a certain angle). Keep the sedative rounds ready and sedate the animal and get it’s sample. I am doing this and I feel this will maximise the benefit.

If you're going for the bear coat then you need a grizzly bear. Nothing else will work. Sometimes you have to skin an animal or you have to keep it as a whole. It tells you when you look at the ingredients

It is a huge update. Up to 200+ bug has been fixed. New role, weapons, clothing, animal spawn fixed and so on

I'm already level 20 on the role and the way I did it is do poachers missions and sampled most animals I saw. Once i got to level 5, I did Harriets legendary sightings and once I did them I roamed around.

Ok so I have a couple questions about the legendary animals - 1.) Are they a one time kinda thing? Like if I track it down one day, can I do it again the next week? 2.) If you sell the legendary animal pelts to Gus, can he make an outfit for every one? I’ve seen the legendary coyote and the legendary wolf outfits, but I’ve also seen the boar and the elk outfit it one of the news tabs ( I know the elk one is a twitch prime reward but I’ve never seen or heard about anything about the boar one.) Tips for new naturalists: Always kill and skin the golden spirit bear once unlocked the legendary animals as it gives you $50 If you kill animals sample the same amount so you don’t get drugged Best way to get lvl5 is to do a poachers mission then continue to do the grassland and and mountain lands field guide to earn $140 and 1k nat xp (This takes around 1hr-2hrs to complete) Don’t waste your money on animal reviver as it only gives you 10 more xp This is my personal way of ranking up fast and getting a decent amount of money 💙

Rockstar really have let me down. 7 months for this? Where is the massive update? Only one role and it isn't that well developed , I hope Rockstar in the coming month develops or reveals the full developmemt of this new role. So what now? We have to wait 4+ months for an update like this? Stil don't understand why they do not copy some things of the story mode, it could be done easy and rapid. Or what about a México-Guarma map expansion , specially guarma which is very detailed and developed for just an hour of gameplay. Come on Rockstar you could literally just make a patch by updating only free roam ( trains with passengers, interact with NPCS(greet,antagonize,Rob), more dynamic NPCS events like in story mode, rework the camp, a working Witness system where you can actually stop witnesses, being able to get arrested instead of getting shot by the lawmen, and i can keep going) Please Rockstar it is not too much to ask considering most of this things are already done in the singleplayer mode of the game . Red Dead Redemption 2 Online has too much potential for it to be wasted like this, I hope something chances cause you are really becoming on a Parasite of a Game who is already passing down three generations of consoles

I personally love the new update! As a fairly passive/relaxed player that enjoys the natural beauty of the game, it’s nice to roam around collecting samples. An added bonus I wasn’t expecting is the comradery among players right now. Players are helping one another hunt and collect samples which is really nice compared to all the meaningless griefing I’ve been so accustomed to.

If you're not level five two things. Sedate a crap ton of big gators as the swamp is now a mine field of gators. Two complete the set that requires both the timber wolf and grey wolf as it's the easiest one to complete. Grey wolfs can be found pretty easily. While the more uncommon timber wolfs are found in the same area that leads to the sniper tower from the legendary bounty you get 1000 exp per set you complete. Plus 140 bucks for that set.

Got lvl 18 just hunting sheep in emerald ranch, and pigs in Valentine, goats aswell get 10 samples it's 500exp it's a breeze.

Thats for my naturalist brothers go to a spot where many of wapitis are and try to get maximum of samples from male and females cause if you sell them you‘ll get like 4.70$. Have fun!

Man its so hard when you accidentally run over about 10 squirrels by accident with your horse. Shes already sprayed me a few times for that. Also, whats special about the reviver? Is it only for reviving? Caus theres no point in it then, the animals wake up after a few minutes if you just go and sit a few yards away and watch them. I do this to make sure nothing kills them, they always wake up.

I got maxed first day. Went to emerald ranch got the samples from the sheep, goats and cow then fast traveled to Harriet at lagras. Rinse repeat. Best way to get the legendaries are through the missions. Easy af.
