41:00 keep in mind that this requires 1 health, good thing theres a charm that provides benefits for being low on health which can be compared to others to determine how much low health detracts, fury increases damage by 75% when at 1 mask and has a notch cost of two, thats ~38% per notch as opposed to ~16% per notch for strength which has a 50% boost for three notches thats ~138% value increase if the pre-requisit is being at 1 mask, applied to all of the aspects mentioned in the video a (IMO) more accurate approximation of the abyssal bloom charm value is 7.4, still worth it.

I did consider doing it this route and it's definitely another valid way to look at it! Nicely done! 👍 I'll pin this as some people may prefer this method of valuing it :) Personally I prefer seeing a big number and just having it in my head that I am paying for it with the threat of dying at any moment, but having the threat of dying built in to the numbers also works!

Missing info for Vessel's Lament: The Blast around the knight does 40/80 damage, however blasts originating from the marked enemies deals 30/60 damage instead (with/without deep focus). Perhaps my setup was flawed, so I'll repeat it some more. My results on bloom damage and BoH damage were the same as yours, so I probably just made a mistake 😅 My King's Honour damage was off by quite a bit too; I found the spawn rate, total ticks and tickrate, but the visual seems to disappear faster than the hotbox, which caused my timing to be off slightly. The damage with the other charms (spore shroom, flukenest) were hard to measure for me, so I just used the formula (2 damage per tick + impact damage) with the duration I found, which was quite far off

@@Vegathron I just tested VL again, the marked damage is 75% of the knight damage. You might have played on a slightly older version in which VL still did 40 damage on mark, as I do remember dealing 40 when I first played

Your displayed Abyssal bloom overcharming builds are less efficient than they could be. When overcharming Bloom has an effective cost of 1 (when used last) meaning you have 10 more notches to play with, however in both displayed builds you only use 8 notches without bloom (Fury+Strength+Purity+Bloom/Sharp Shadow+Dashmaster+Joni+Bloom). This means you could add Unbreakable Heart (or maybe glowing womb or some other charm/combo that uses 2 notches) to each build and increase your dps.

In the first two “sections”, you can, but after the long hallway the option becomes disabled. But, from then on every screen has an infinite soul totem so it’s no biggie

Even though I agree that mod is really good, I don't think they should add it (at least, not as is), because it breaks some of design philosophies I really appreciated in my first playthrough. Or at least, Abyssal Bloom section breaks. One is that charms are not mandatory, except when it's directly stated. What I mean is, when playing for the first time and exploring, I never had to worry that by leaving bench with wrong charm build I will lock myself out of somewhere. The outliers are Grimmchild (kind of, it doesn't lock you out of any map section) and Kingsoul, which both have strong thematic ties to where they are needed and directly state in their description that they make something available when equipped. I feel like that is exactly why Dashmaster's down dash is so useless - if it was supposed to be useful, it wouldn't be tied to a charm that you could just forget to equip. The other one is that if you go for stupid challenges, you will gain stupid prizes. The most you gain out of hardest challenges is a new ending (P5), other rewards can be an achievement, a comletion percent, a secret room, a cutscene, a cool statue, a journal entry, a bunch of geo... But not things that could actually be useful in your playthrough and that you really want to have for other sections of the game, not just for bragging rights. Even God Tamer is optional for unlocking pantheons, despite that P3 is arguably harder than Trial of the Fool. White Palace is the hardest thing you actually need to do to unlock something, and it does have a bunch of shortcuts if you're really desperate. But that platforming section in Abyss is Path of Pain level of challenge, but the reward is something you could really want to have for your gameplay, so it all but begs for noclip if you don't have that level of patience or have a weaker pc that would screw you on long precise sections where you can't make mistakes. After all, people who install mods are the ones who finished the game, got what they wanted out of it and were still insterested enough to go check out what community has to offer, but if it was an official dlc, then it would also be played by someone who is new to all of this

Which Abyssal Bloom Overcharmed build would be more optimal? Joni's Blessing with Strength or Heart? Both builds would have Legacy Quick Slash and Steady Body, but Heart would additionally have King's Honour.

Strength will be better as its effect is multiplied by bloom. Heart adds around 20% DMG and even with king's honour it won't make up the extra % DMG. It's not exactly this scenario but the vid I am currently working on will touch on this so keep an eye out! :)
