Midichlorian counts only point to POTENTIAL. So Anakin was POTENTIALLY far stronger than Obi Wan. But during that battle they were evenly matched. Because it's not like Anakin had spent hours working on his force abilities. He was a SWORDSMAN and BOTH of them had been shaped, and sharpened by constant fighting during the Clone Wars side by side. Also, Obi Wan had a master who always told him to stay in the moment, to be mindful of the living force so he was perfectly in tune with it during the fight. But Anakin foolishly and arrogantly saw Obi Wan and the Jedi as "weak" and Kenobi's style as purely defensive, which it was - BUT - Anakin's rage and his desire to kill his former master blinded him to the fact that Obi Wan himself had literally come to Mustafar with one goal in mind, to END ANAKIN'S LIFE. Obi Wan doesn't get enough credit. I can't think of any Jedi of his era who can say that he'd defeated two Sith Lords, then beat one and killed the other in the rematches. He also took out Grievous who was a Jedi-killing beast of a cyborg whose tech allowed him to move faster than the eye could see and faster than any Jedi according to the ROTS novel. Obi Wan was NOT a dude than any SMART Dark Sider should take lightly in any way.

Obi Wan also almost turned to the Dark Side had he fully embraced his rage at Anakin at betraying the Order. Midbattle Obi Wan changes his battle strategy, lets the Force flow through him, and ultimately teaches the arrogant never listens to his Master student a much needed lesson in a total Self Preservation moment. Obi Wan basically PLEADS with Anakin NOT to make him a multiple amputee. The drunk with new power Vader ignores it, and gets SCHOOLED af while Obi Wan retaining his humility mourns that he had to DO WHAT HE SAID, and what he MUST at the decision of Vader-kin. Epic, poetic, and it was Obi Wan who passed his Jedi test that day, Anakin only learned he wasn't as kick@$$ as he imagined himself to be and still had 💩 to learn. I think Obi Wan did not fully let go of Anakin until his second to last duel with Vader in the Obi Wan TV series. Before that, Obi Wan did not know that Anakin/ Darth Vader survived Mustafar until the TV series began, he did let go then but not fully enough. When Obi Wan learned that Vader survived, those feelings of attachment and emotions during duel on Mustafar (you mentioned) just reignite again and return. In the Obi Wan TV series duel, that was a emotional duel because Obi Wan presented the same emotions that he had during Mustafar if not less. When Obi Wan said "Goodbye...Darth", that can be argued he has let go of Anakin for good. By the time of their final duel on the Death Star, Obi Wan has already long accepted Anakin is gone for good and no attachment to Vader anymore.

The best part is that the actual Master on The Death Star in A New Hope has the satisfaction of knowing NOT ONLY has allowing the Force to flow through him in that second duel, and the simple I'm your teacher and no matter how arrogant you are if you make me defend myself and make you be a triple amputee my rage that almost pushed me to the Dark Side for you murdering and betraying the order is past, I'm still gonna teach you a lesson if WHEN I SAY LISTEN, LISTEN... EPIC Mustafar begging, please don't make me make you an amputee. Priceless. But YES, by the time it comes to A New Hope Kenobi gets the satisfaction of smirking when Anakin/Vader refers to himself as a Master. 🤣 which Kenobi knows NOT only did Vader never earn that title in Jedi Order, but even after doing Palpatine's bidding and stooging for nearly 2 decades the pathetic wannabe was still trying to claim himself higher than even the Sith esteemed him either. Obi wan Kenobi is an example of someone who just keeps at it until they become a master. They might not have the most natural talent, and they struggle more along the way, but just due to sheer will and training they become amazing at something. Also Kenobi had a strong connection to the force despite having a low midi-chlorian count because he had faith in himself and in the Jedi in general and the shock of Anakin falling to the dark side set him into a determination. And even when they fought he still loved his friend. Which I think Anakin can sense so that's why Kenobi is able to beat him in fights because Vader's weakness is memories of the love he had for his friends etc... If vader is cold and full of rage then he's unbeatable. And in the new show when Obi Wan Kenobi says I'm sorry for all of it. I think Anakin really had a cathartic moment with his old friend. But he tried to cover it up with the psychopathic "I killed anakin skywalker" which just shows how depressed and full of rage he is over killing Padme.

They should make an alternate timeline where Darth Vader defeats Obi-Wan, gets fully trained in the dark side by Sidious and has a battle between a full powered Sidious vs a full powered Anakin. I don't think the high ground is the reason Anaikin lost; his skills were too good for that. Even to the point of reason (of trying that move vs high ground) against one of the greatest, if not greatest Jedi's of all time. I think arrogance was his biggest downfall. Not fatigue. I think Anakin had more than enough in the gas tank to go as long as needed. But it was the cleverness + fight IQ that gave the Master his advantage.

End of story. The ever arrogant never listening to guidance Anakin does it anyways. EPIC. He couldn't kill Anakin. He left him for the Force/nature to handle lying on the dge of a volcanic river believing THAT would handle it. And fittingly if it had because after everything the Jedi had done for Anakin over the years in truth, yep him suffering an agonizing death after there betrayal would be The Way of the Force-so NO Jedi would have to strike that blow. Plus did Anakin at that point deserve any kind of Mercy blow? Like really? Ya sorry but I fail to think ANY Jedi would be like yep you killed our order but here we'll kindly put you out of misery you brought on all of us. Yep This is NOT the way of the Force you're looking for. So ya he didn't have to kill Vader. He PROVED his point on the field of battle, the arrogant upstart betrayer was a cocky failure of what he'd been gramted opportunity to mold himself differently and had destroyed the order. No honor, no respect, doesn't really garner much of the same in return. And the Order not emcouraging attachments DOESN'T mean the same as the implicit concept of existence that one will develop attachments to those around them. I mean really? Yoda was devastated when he realized months before Order 66 that in order to save the Jedi he must NOT let them in on the coming massacre. Yet somehow you don't think the pain of the deaths of all the Jedi at Order 66 wasn't felt by the other's BECAUSE of attachment? Having attachments isn't the same as letting those attachments overpower your duty and honor. Soldiers have families, they still have to go out and kill other people they have never met with families. Knowing they are making widows and orphans. Get it? It's ludicrous to pretend that discouraging attachments means no Jedi had any when they themselves are eachothers by definition 🤣 The key is HOW one holds attachments and when do they become harmful or not beneficial.

I think Luke's belief that the Jedi are always, or at least usually, better lightsaber duelists is consistent with other SW lore. In particular, Darth Sidious believed the Sith had outgrown lightsabers, and considered them to only be Jedi weapons. Even in his final duel with Yoda, he knew that he wouldn't win a lightsaber fight with the grand master, and used his superior force abilities instead.

@jordanglasper1064 Жыл бұрын
3:00 “We learn at the beginning of the fight with Dooku. That Anakin was becoming stronger throughout the fight.” This is correct, there’s much you don’t understand. Count Dooku Sith Lord is a Level 8 High Tier Lightsaber Master Duelist. Obi-Wan Kenobi Jedi Master is a Level 8 High Tier Lightsaber Master Duelist. Anakin Skywalker Jedi Knight (Master) is a Level 8 High Tier Lightsaber Master Duelist. When Anakin used the Darkside his power level jumped from a high tier level 8, to a low tier level 9 Master Duelist as well as force practitioner. This jump in power level completely overwhelmed Dooku. Let’s step back for a moment.. Earlier in the duel count Dooku fail to realize how perfectly timed every attack evasion move or swing and block Kenobi matched his power/strength speed stamina endurance and durability in combat. Essentially Kenobi became his equal throughout the years of the war. Whereas four years ago, in the first battle, Kenobi was much weaker. Therefore in order to even the odds, Count Dooku need a hand motion for battle droids to assist him in his fight versus the two Jedi. This fight was always meant to be his execution he just didn’t know it. Neither did he know Obi-Wan Kenobi was now on his level. But as the battle continues he realize this. And became afraid. Give them this battle count Dooku is arrogant for the middle portion of his battle he became afraid and used underhanded tactics he felt beneath it in order to gain a foothold in this fight. Also there’s deleted footage that shows Obi-Wan Kenobi becoming more powerful and gnashing is Mike. But the reason why it remains deleted because they didn’t want to show Obi-Wan as an aggressive Lightsaber duelist they always wanted him to embody the Jedi way, defense over offense. The reason why I gave Anakin Skywalker master in parentheses, is because his power level is equal to a high tier Jedi Master.

The reason he got the high ground
@jordanglasper1064 Жыл бұрын
2:23 “Soon Darth Vader will be more powerful than either of us.” This is a perfect example of a misquote. Darth Sidious did not say soon. This is exactly what was said. “You will not stop me. Darth Vader will become more powerful than either of us.” I have not seen Star Wars episode three revenge of the Sith in several years for the “still ring through in my head is if I watched it yesterday. Allow me to break down the dialogue. Templeton made a statement, but then sensing how powerful Yoda wasn’t a force to be canceled on his statement because he knew there was a chance a great possibility that Master Yoda would defeat him here and now. Dwelling for moment on the possibility of his eminent defeat, Darth Sidious wanted to make Yoda feel fear, by stating that his apprentice would eventually become more powerful than both of them. This backfired, because Yoda had this to say in response “Misplaced may be faith in you’re new apprentice. As is your faith in the Darkside of the force.” let’s break this one down.. basically Yoda is unafraid, because in this moment he believes that Anakin will turn away from the Darkside or at least there’s a possibility Anakin is redeemable from the Darkside. Yoda finish it off with saying that Darth Sidious would lose bcuz His faith in the dark side was also miss placed. Personally Yoda’s second statement, was a little bit weaker. However the portion about Anakin was 100% through.

I for one am so sick & tired of Obi-Wan getting the blame for Anakin's turning. everyone in the S.W. universe seem to lay the blame for Anakin turning to Sidious & the Dark Side on Obi-Wan - when Anakin was a Jedi Knight no longer Obi-Wan's Padawan & Anakin was a grown man. It peeved me how in the Obi-Wan series Reva yelled that at Obi-Wan when he was literally falling to his own death. Anakin made a choice - a choice that damned the Republic & the Jedi. It had nothing to do with Obi--Wan who was guilted into training Anakin by a dying Qui-Gon who knew how to manipulate his apprentice aka Obi-Wan into doing what we all know as the most stupidest thing as Obi-Wan was not prepared to take an apprentice when he was so young & green.

8:47 obi-Wan Kenobi remaining neutral with his feelings and immersing himself in the full Mike and tower of the force, specifically the light side is one of the main key reasons to white one. But if he was significantly week of Anakin he would’ve been cut down all the same. They are very stories of Jedi knight in Tyler wants and masters who immersed in self in the middle of the force but it was they are destined to die at the hands of your enemy. Obi-Wan Kenobi worse week as you say did he would’ve fallen just the same. But because he was equal to the chosen one he was able to hold him off and eventually defeat him when an opening provided itself, granted by the weakness and overconfident nature of his former apprentice.

I have so many questions: Why didn't Anakin use force lighting? Why didn't Anakin use the force to push hot lava on Obi-Wan? How come Darth Mal didn't cut off Obi-Wan's limbs @ the end of their duel like Obi-Wan did Anakin? Why didn't Anakin force choke Obi-Wan? Why didn't Anakin force throw any of the backdrop equipment on Mustafar @ Obi-Wan? For someone who powers where growing so rapidly he sure didn't use them...

Naw that wasn't what he was talking about when he said Soon Vader would become more powerful than either of us. He was saying eventually after a couple or years or so. Somewhat amusingly, in the Revenge of the Sith novelisation it implies that Obi-Wan severing Anakin's limbs may have been an accident. "Anakin snarled a curse as he realised he'd been suckered, and leapt off his droid at Obi-Wan's back--- Half a second too slow. Obi-Wan's whirl to parry didn't meet Anakin's blade. It met his knee. Then his other knee. And while Anakin was still in the air, burned-off lower legs only starting their topple down the cliff, Obi-Wan's recovery to guard brought his blade through Anakin's left arm above the elbow. He stepped back as Anakin fell" Either way, he certainly didn't plan it that way. The Force may have planned it that way though, and Obi-Wan just let it work through him

I don't know where you get the low midichlorian count info, but Obi Wan has one of the largest Midichlorian counts of all Jedi. He was ranked just below Yoda if I remember correctly. Considering that his fights with Dooku is influenced by Palpatine to make Anakin shine, Obi Wan was pretty much invincible.

They loved each other so much. So this is extremely sad and tragic. But Obi-Wan had to do this. May the Force be with you too. Have a nice day too :)

Obi Wan Kenobi is the ultimate Jedi, absolutely the greatest one because he was the most disciplined. Power means nothing compared to the nature of the force, which is all about neutrality. It is the users of the force who are concerned with power, because Obi Wan was not, I believe he is the absolute pinnacle of what a Jedi should be
@losingwill84026 ай бұрын
My belief is he beat Vader for several reasons noted here but also because Vader never had time to cultivate into a supremely power combatant he was prophesied to be and kenobi was vastly experienced. Given more time anakin in his prime could have been much more powerful. But kenobi fought him fairly early in akankis life. He has all the potential but it wasn’t realized. And never would be because of the grave wounds he received from this fight.

3:23 “ obi-Wan Kenobi was able to use form 3 Soresu to his advantage.” This is entirely true. Yet there is a context greater context you are sorely missing out on. Only a specific level form 3 Soresu Master can fully match The Chosen One. We’re at a much lower level Soresu master would be obliterated by the chosen one. The perfect example is this ATOC Obi-Wan Kenobi was a Level 7 Mid Tier Lightsaber Master Duelist. This version of Obi-Wan would be defeated soundly by ROTS Anakin. It’s Lightsaber form has a different level of mastery one through nine and each of those numbers has three tiers of power within them. A level one light saber Master Duelist is a God to any average human being or alien species. However in the scale of power to the Jedi Masters, Knights & apprentices, a level 6 versus a level seven is an ant versus a mountain. This is the greater context that you are missing out on. Obi-Wan Kenobi vs Anakin Skywalker in ROTS has increased his power level Through the light side of the force two equal and match the chosen one. Also your argument it’s stating that Obi-Wan Kenobi new Ani’s fighting style so that’s why he was able to defeat him. Is a weak argument point and is easily destroyed. Every Jedi master night and Padawan learner new Anakin Skywalker fighting style and his level of mastery of it. Everybody knew his fighting style was form IV. Everybody knew how he fought. That was so comical when you and other content creators make that very low level comment or statement. It doesn’t only apply to Obi-Wan it applies to everybody who was a Jedi.
@CoryThomas-b1b Жыл бұрын
Obi-Wan narrowly beat and defeated Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker in their first one on one lightsaber sword duel battle to the death on Mustafar for multiple reasons and factors. For one, Obi-Wan was still technically the master Jedi to Anakin in the Jedi Order of the old Galactic Republic before Anakin turned to the dark side of the force and joined the Sith as Darth Vader and as the Sith apprentice and second in command of the Galactic Empire to Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious by the end of Star Wars Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith. Obi-Wan trained Anakin in the Jedi Order of the old Republic most of his entire life from childhood at eight years old until adulthood at age twenty-two by episode 3 ROTS. Post -Clone Wars. He taught Anakin most of the fighting he knew but Anakin was trained by Master Yoda and multiple other Jedi masters within the Jedi Order as well. He knew his fallen former Jedi apprentice and protege turned traitor, Sith Lord and mass murderer and Anakin's original Acrobatic lightsaber combat form and primary style of swordsmanship combat inside and out. Both former Jedi master and apprentice, former best friends and surrogate brothers turned mortal enemies as Jedi master vs Sith Lord, were evenly matched and equally skilled in their lightsaber sword dueling combat skills and abilities with a sword. With Obi-Wan Still being the slightly, closely more skilled, far more experienced lightsaber duelist while Anakin was the Chosen One written and engraved by the force written prophecy to destroy the Sith and bring balance to the force. Anakin himself was the true balance of both the light and the dark sides of the force combined. And by episode 3 ROTS after the Clone Wars Anakin was a much more highly trained, more highly skilled, formidable and experienced sword duelist than before the Clone Wars three years before in episode 2 Attack of the Clones as an inexperienced and far less combat skilled and less force powerful eighteen-year-old teenage Jedi Padawan apprentice to Obi-Wan before the Clone Wars. From their multiple countless lightsaber sword duel battles against Count Dooku and other enemies throughout the Clone Wars over three years. And by episode 3 ROTS both surpassed Count Dooku in swordsmanship. He used the force to win against Obi-Wan first in turn and used his superior force powers and abilities with both sides of the force as a fallen former Jedi master of the Jedi Order of the old Republic turned Sith Lord/dark Jedi master and temporary Sith apprentice to Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious during the war. Because Obi-Wan switched styles from his all defensive lightsaber combat form and primary style Dooku couldn't penetrate past anymore by Episode 3 to another lightsaber combat form which tricked Dooku and caught him by surprise and nearly bested him. So he used his superior force powers and abilities to win against Obi-Wan and neutralized him as a threat. Dooku held back halfway against Anakin to be fair thinking he and Palpatine would turn Anakin to the dark side together and then he'd be imprisoned and freed later by the other two Sith Lords to serve in the Galactic Empire under Emperor Palpatine aka Darth Sidious and Darth Vader. But In truth Palpatine always planned on replacing Count Dooku with Anakin. Count Dooku fighting full force going all out without holding back would've given Anakin a run for his money and it would've been a longer, more evenly matched, two sided, close duel but Anakin still would've won by episode 3 ROTS. Obi-Wan could've narrowly beaten Count Dooku strictly in a fair and straight up one on one lightsaber sword duel without force powers involved. But the first lightsaber sword duel between Obi-Wan and Anakin on Mustafar was a two sided, evenly matched, competitive, close sword duel and two-way force battle and stalemate before Anakin's fateful force jump at the end. But Darth Vader jumped from the droid platform on the lava river hundreds of feet into the air above and across the lava onto the higher ground level of terrain on the top of the volcano mountain where Obi-Wan stood and attempted to jump over Obi-Wan to land behind Obi-Wan on the high ground to stab him through the spine and chest from behind to win the duel and kill his former Jedi master and teacher and former lifelong best friend and surrogate brother turned mortal enemies but Obi-Wan dismembered Darth Vader's legs and left arm mid-air flawlessly in one fatal finishing blow with his sword and narrowly defeated Darth Vader before Anakin fell to the bottom of the volcano on the lava river bank and got burned alive by lava. Even had their first sword duel on Mustafar continued on level ground and flat -surfaced terrain without Obi-Wan having the high ground advantage, Obi-Wan still would've eventually narrowly beaten and defeated Darth Vader in their first sword duel on Mustafar in Star Wars Episode 3 ROTS. "When I left you I was but a learner now I am the master." Darth Vader's own words twenty years later in Star Wars Episode 4 A New Hope in their third and final sword duel battle on the first Death Star. Meaning he was still the apprentice. But Darth Vader as the Chosen One would've inevitably surpassed both Obi-Wan, and in a rematch sword duel battle, if Vader never attempted the jump and got dismembered and burned alive by lava on Mustafar and put into the giant armored cybernetic life support suit, in a rematch sword duel on Mustafar or another planet, a full force potential powerful Anakin and being a far more advanced and fully evolved, master level skilled and far more experienced lightsaber sword duelist and fighter years later at his full force potential, Anakin would've won and killed Obi-Wan and a far more advanced and full force potential powerful Anakin fully crossed over to the dark side of the force as a Sith Lord would've executed that force empowered leap and jump to the high ground on the volcano mountain embankment where Obi-Wan stood and would've impaled Obi-Wan and won. If Darth Vader wasn't dismembered of his limbs by Obi-Wan in their first sword duel on Mustafar and fatally burned by lava on the lava river bank at the bottom of the volcano mountain embankment, Darth Vader would've surpassed and overthrown, fought, beaten and slain Emperor Palpatine in a fair one on one lightsaber sword duel and force battle to the death between Sith Lords master and apprentice years later and Vader would've ruled the galaxy and Galactic Empire as emperor and master Sith Lord. Obi-Wan neutralized that chance. He beat Darth Vader a second time on the Kenobi series ten years later after ROTS. Ten years before episode 4 A New Hope. In another two sided, evenly matched and close duel and two-way force battle and Darth Vader nearly won and defeated and killed Obi-Wan in their force battle using their force powers and abilities against one another in their lightsaber sword duel rematch battle on another planet nearly crushing him with rocks but Obi-Wan used the force to push the boulders off of him and continued fighting plus switched styles from his all defensive lightsaber combat form to the Acrobatic lightsaber combat form and primary style of Qui-Gon before his death. Which outmanuevered Darth Vader in his restricted and limited mobility and capability inside the giant armored cyborg life support system machine suit, plus Obi-Wan was determined to protect Anakin's and Padm'e's children from the Sith and at the end of their second duel became one with the force fully which empowered Obi-Wan to win narrowly by cutting open Vader's skull helmet and facial mask that supplied Vader's oxygen. In their third and final battle elderly Obi-Wan Kenobi stood no chance against Darth Vader but put up a good fight before he sacrificed himself. But he would've eventually been beaten and slain by Darth Vader either way. Anakin was far more powerful and stronger in the force as the Chosen One than Obi-Wan or any Jedi except Yoda and Mace Windu and would've been the most powerful Sith Lord if not for his defeat, mutilation and fatal burn wounds from his first lightsaber sword duel against Obi-Wan on Mustafar. Both fought alongside one another throughout the Clone Wars and knew one another's styles and fighting moves inside and out. Obi-Wan was just the far more experienced duelist. If their first sword duel on Mustafar would've continued on level ground and flat -surfaced terrain without Obi-Wan having the high ground I believe Obi-Wan would've eventually narrowly beaten and defeated Darth Vader either way. But Vader would surpass his former master either way in both the force on the dark side of the force especially as a Sith Lord and swordsmanship eventually. Obi-Wan mastered the high ground to beat Darth Maul thirteen years before ROTS on the planet of Naboo in Episode 1 The Phantom Menace. From the opposite position of the high ground hanging from a ledge above his would be fall to his death below after Darth Maul slayed Qui-Gon and defeated Obi-Wan. Then a young teenage eighteen-year-old Jedi Padawan apprentice and inexperienced and far less combat skilled and less force powerful and connected warrior. Using the force to pull Qui-Gon's lightsaber to his hands before using the force to leap into the air and jump over Maul and landed on his feet, surprising and defeating Darth Maul by cutting him in half. And predicted Anakin would attempt the same force empowered leap as he did.

i think the biggest takeaway from this breakdown is not that jedi will always be better duelists, but rather any force user will always be at their peak potential when they drop sides and simply give in to the will of the force. the same reason why palpatine feared qui gon jinn! he viewed qui gon as the most dangerous outside of yoda because he knew when it came down to it qui gon would bend the rules and always do what the force willed.

I always viewed this fight as Anakin being overly cocky, like he has always been. Obi-wan was significantly weaker in the force, but he trained himself to be at the level of a master, while on the other hand, Anakin barely had to do any training to be proficient in the force. Which is why we see the two of them evenly matched when they try to force push one another. Another reason is because Anakin was not accustomed to fighting in the dark side, he could not make full use of his emotions, and in fact was probably more of a drawback. His emotions completely overtook him, leaving Anakin without his skills and experience that he had acquired throughout the Clone Wars. That is how I’ve always viewed the fight anyway
