Fantastic scouting method, simple but very effective. I tend to do lower league saves, so I wasn’t sure how much use this would be, but you covered that really well, as a lot of small clubs can afford £8k on a player if they’re worth it. Using this method, I found two players who ended up being genuinely world class for under $100k. A 16 year old Argentine attacking mid who made the U19 team while playing on a 2nd tier club. And a 17 year old French striker who was somehow selected for their U19 team while playing in the National (3rd tier)!

@@Picturesque.Hub_ you need to click the settings wheel or something from the scouting centre, then you can change which items go to your inbox as a single message and which items are collated into the Regular scouting update, you can also set how often you receive the scouting update. The scouting update is the one that you can change to list view.

Coming back after having watched this a week ago. I love this method and recommend this highly. I am a small-ish club in Iceland so a lot of the player won't even think about joining me but i'm sill getting a lot of good prospects and have signed several that will either be future first team players or net me good amount of money, and i'm not even that far into the scouting tasks, there's so much left. Once you take the 10-15 minute grueling task of starting the queue of scouting, it's pretty easy to whittle down the list to good prospects. Again, love this, highly recommend!

You need to go into continent-page or nation-page and then go to transfers, and then youth intake. Then you scout them one week. And you do this around the time of youth intakes around the world, typical january/march at least. This is by far the best way to get the biggest talents discovered early, and keeps you ahead of the pack. Require many scouts and scouting budget, but only way you want to get these 15-17 year olds signed early.

You can setup a seach filter in your player search and skip a lot of scrolling and save a lot of time: Age between 15 and 18 National team IS U19 OR U21/U20 OR Main Add nationalities if you want to go for certain nations

I think one thing that is forgotten is that depending on the team you are managing you don't have to to just look at the players with the highest potential. For playing with teams with less money sometimes getting a player or two that have ok to good potential, cost peanuts but can be sold for a good profit in a year or two can be a great way to boost finances and help with the growth of your club.

Zealand did a similar thing using the u20 world cup squads in his current twitch save, very effective. I think scouts also work far better when players are actually playing games so the squads you know actually have fixtures that window may be more fruitful.

Oh so this is just FM 2022, well do yourself a favor and check out the recommended players, if there are any, in the team dynamic section since those will for sure fit in with the team most likely and is the best recommended players i assume just like that. This is brilliant. Started an Atlanta save and went into the second season with almost an entire new starting XI.. I'm not usually competitive for a few seasons because I like young players / regens, this found players that are real life regens. :D I scout the national squads during the first international break, and then do it again during the second break just to see if any new players have been called up, you'll find a few more doing this.

I fast-forward the list-making phase of this method by using the in-game editor (strictly for this purpose). I turn on 'Show all players in list' and filter to players in any national team.

Great Idea! Definitely time consuming going through all the nations. Wonder if it would be better to use the player search with the following: Age: 15-18 Youth Apps: At Least 1 or International Caps: At Least 1 Would save some time going through the nations although a small scouting network would struggle to cope with the workload.

It would potentially get a list of players, but it would exclude any that have yet to earn those caps, but also the max you can scout is 50 at a time anyway, so while it might speed things up a bit, you could miss more players

My word this is a genius way to do it. I check it every month and scout any new players who have no rating yet. Normally get at least 30-50 new players every couple of months needing to be scouted.

@@Secondyellowcard even with 50 at a time, it's not hard to select 50, scout. See where you highlight finished then select the name and go to the next 50. Should be able to get up to 500 there with about 20 clicks not adjusting for the times it tells you you selected too many and you need to unselect one by one to reduce it to 50. But you'll learn the approximation for that pretty quickly. Maybe take you about 4 minutes to do.

I have this method where you can get scout reports everyday, and not wait 1 week. 1) On 'Scout Priorities' window and add 2 columns 'Days since scout reports created' and 'Knowledge Level'. 2) Make sure to scout players between 09:00am - 16:45pm. The scout reports will be ready at 17:00. You'll not receive an email but if you check your 'Scout Priorities' window you'll see the 'Days since scout reports created' is 0 and 'Knowledge Level' has increased by roughly 20%. 3) Cancel those that got updated. Advance to next day, then scout them again between 09:00am to 16:45pm. Rinse repeat.

I do this for the final 50 players left just to speed it up. You can go from 20% to 100% in less than a week. So good.

And at the end of the is world 85 to 90 million pounds I also won champions league and he banged in 3 goals past real Madrid in the final. Something else Matt as well. I heard you saying how there was 100 players in your report each time and I think that's cos you have it set to update weekly. Go into 'scouting', click the little thing next to filter and change inbox delivery options to every 2 days. It should help you out massively.

Look, i think your content is amazing and i started watching your vids since bolton. And because of that, i genuinely think that you can get at least 2x views if you change up your thumbnail. I love this video. One question for you. Alot of these youngsters come in at around the 2 star level. Not good enough for first team. But maybe too young too loan out...are these kind of players good ideas for youth teams or just too good for that and get them loaned out

It depends on your plans, so on my save i'm trying to build up the other teams in my league, so i loan them out as soon as i can, if they are too young they stay in the youth teams. A lot of times with players like this, teams will request a loan back as part of the deal so that might be a good solution in the mean time. Usually they won't suffer too much in your youth team until they are of loanable age :)

Wouldn't my scouts stop doing all other assignments given to them, throughout the year? And how do I manage that my nation youth scouting updates won't get completely clustered with my regular scouting? Since mass discarding and 1 week scouting wouldn't be as efficient I assume? As for the shortlist: in what way do you use that? Since you are looking at your priority list mostly.

I've not found that the other scout assignments get in the way too much, however you would have to be more diligent when it comes to discarding as players from other reports could get lost in there. I use the shortlist mainly at the end, as adding columns to the priority list screen causes it to glitch out, it's mostly just so i can mess with metrics without that issue

I'm following this method, and sorting by potential and age, then highlight a list of players to scout for a week. But I don't have a scout option when I right click. It only tells me how many players from the list I've highlighted. What am I doing wrong?

You might not have the recruitment package available to scout all the players. Try and move some money to your scouting budget and change to world knowledge for a bit if you are able to do so.

What should the basic scouting setup look like when doing this? I'm not getting these "Scouting Updates" emails, there's no nice list of scouted players for me to go through and whittle down, I'm still getting scouting reports for players I'm not scouting (or I don't think I am, cancelled all assignments prior to trying this). I did a version of this in one of my last long term saves, the difference being I only had enough money to sign maybe 3 dudes as free agents. And it was so successful that I lost interest in the save because I felt like I was cheating. Even though youth national team information is easy to find irl, it was insane to me that my team was made up of 16 year olds worth over 5 million a piece and who were all way better than the 28 year old dudes I was playing against. So I say, be careful doing this. It's possible you may improve your team so much, so fast that the game itself becomes pointless

What do you do with the players that are fully scouted? Keep scouting for week and keep them in the scout priorities or do you add them to a shortlist? Wouldn't that run a risk of them not being fully scouted anymore? At the same time I rather not use my scouts time and energy on players that are already scouted.

A shortlist would have the option to "Keep scout reports up to date" so that could help, but it sense it basically serves the same function as scouting them again. Luckily as it's only for a little while i've not noticed it makes that much difference
