The warhammer paint “Blood For The Blood God” is a great blood effect for figures.

My brother and I used red markers way back in the day! We had a few Lego storm troopers that our dog chewed up; perfect battlefield casualties with the red marker ink! Now I build and paint minis (Warhammer, Bolt Action! etc.) and if you have a few extra dollars laying around, Citadel (Games Workshop paint company) makes some really good blood effects, particularly, ‘blood for the blood god,’ if I remember correctly that is what it’s called. Looks very realistic. If it looks great on scale miniatures, I’m sure it would look great on Lego mini figs!

Those two are great choices stop another recommendation that I could do is if you use corn syrup red food dye and add as much as you want depending on how dark you want the blood to be and then add water as you go to make the mixture instead of it being a sticky consistency make it a watery kind of almost the consistency of cream so that way it's not going to stick to your mini figures and it's easily washable so you won't ruin your Minifigures with a permanent red stain

what i did for really good effects was take hot glue and mix it with paint, you morph it while its warm but not too hot, but then it becomes solid, so there is a downside, but it looks really cool
