Smaland guns remind me of Friesland. Super floaty and weirdly inaccurate / bracketing a lot ... doesn't pen anything. I have Sumner > Smaland just b/c the gun performance is better. Yes the Torps from Smaland are superior in a the volume department but most DD on DD engagements are inside 7 km .. I'll take the better guns personally. Also AMS can pop the smoke and get away or farm... utility alone there vs AA benefits ... I'll take the smoke. Smaland looks super cool though. Awesome cammo

Lol just unlocked Smaland last night, then wake up to a Derka video on it .... Clutch. Definitely a strong ship. I went with Swirski gun build, first game top of team on a win, and not even close on the XP. Great video Derka.

@@benmiz9742 9km radar for 20s is Orkans gimmick and 360 turrets like lightening. One of the worse torp armaments at T6 and no smoke though, not the easiest ship to play, but could be worth a look.

The best thing about tier 8 is that you have *almost* Legendary tier ships that only have to face *actual* LT ships around half the time. It's genuinely my favorite tier to play at this point. Plus, there are several tech tree ships that don't have an LT counterpart. Duncan, Adriatico, Chung Mu, and Sejong come to mind.

Just got this ship about 2 weeks ago and have tried a few different builds. The AA on it is insane if there is a carrier in the game but the radar is so useful for early-game caps

Its got lots of ambush potential but it can't one on one with the best of T-7 8 and 9. Patience and position.

I like that captain set up, but I also like Conrad. That lines major issue is its sluggish. Conrad allows smaland to do 40knts and only lose a bit of torp reload. Give it a go

Completly agree, first game in it i knew it was special, then i got Halland, and it cemented my perception on her, i love Småland and the radar is awsome, and torps are real nice surprisingly, ngl i find the gap between it and Ostergotland to be pretty large. As you said, one of the tier 8 to get, also i play mine with radar and some sort of a hybrid build leaning towards torps

I have changed my Stig inspirations to use Space fishy and Al Atago to get as dangerous torps as possible and it seems to work pretty well. Personally I hardly play any DD outside of the Swedish, they are just more fun.

I have Halland and Smaland, I use both and I try to stick with Cruisers especially if they have smoke or high re-fire rate. I use Halland mostly for the AA and area denial and stick with ships that have very little AA as the Halland's AA is just brutal. the Guns on both are good as last resort, I have Orkan and enjoyed her buff. I'm working towards Friesland.

Currently at the Skane working that bureau. When I play Tier 7 Carriers I tend to stay away from all Pan Euro DD's they can deplane quickly. The other day in my Friesland had a game with 58 planes destroyed.

Sumner and Kitakaze are both worth it as well. Sumner is as good if not better than Gearing and the Japanese don't have a LT gun boat yet so if you like that playstyle Kitakaze will still serve you well.

The only other dd i find to be worth it at t8 is kitikaze. Since harugumo isn't in the game yet, i'll settle for kiti. Those guns chey up any dd and love bb superstructures. 1/4 pen pretty much pen anything thats not a heavy cruiser and then you just shoot a bit higher.

The torp build is such a waste of this ships game impact potential imo. Gun build with radar you can bully most DDs, just requires a bit of setup to kite out if need be. Hybrid build for fires/speed on Conrad is another option but really anything that removes enemy DDs quickly is the best option.

I tested gun build, got it to 1.8 seconds and 33,000 more DPM. Noticeable for sure. But I gave up RPF for it, wasted skill in slot 4 for smoke perks, lost 15 seconds on torp reload and made their rx time much worse. To each their own i suppose

@@DerkaGames you can keep the range finder and the last perk you use the engine boost reload (not the best I grant you). It’s mainly the damage in slot 2 that makes the most difference in dd battles. Means you only really need help with a khaba and a lot of them time you can land a torp on them and still take them

The shells grouping somtimes makes u miss ur targets but its a decent dd over all. The floaty shells arent to bad its when thr shells separate and bracket thr ship is what is annoying lol all the pan European dds feel like there accuracy is werid the shells spilt ships alot for me

Dramatic? Yes, such is KZbin. If I had to pick tech T8s that are actually worth grinding from T1 to T8 though, the list would be verrry small. 90% of the time I'll just play the LT big sister. Smaland would indeed be my #1 choice. Schultz, Petro, buffed St Louis i guess would also make the list

Smalland great suport ship, lack of carry potential, dont had improve pen HE , slow shells e very inaccurate guns to a dd (is a pain hit another dd above 8 km) , Mogador basically a kleber at tier 8( can face tier 7 boat) really fast, super powerfull guns , out dpm any other dd at tier 7 and 8 with reload booster , also Mogador bully any light cruiser , can score citadel at max range vs light cruiser (i run 13 km+ on my build) is just your personal oponion but Mogador the last on your list is a crime, i can say skill issue 😂
