Your teaching is perfect. I have never seen compression explained so effectively.

Guys, seriously, this is one of the best videos I've seen about the whole attack/release setting part of compression. wish something like this did exist when I started, would have saved so much head ache. Now the same for the drum bus compression please. That's something I still struggle with sometimes :D

This is going in my saved mixing technique folder. Now I just need a video on bass guitar that is as clear and informative as this video.

I have more compressors :) I use them very often, but I usually only with presets. What you're talking about makes sense. Thanks

t's a good habit with new equipment to begin with presets. They are a great starting point, but very often they need to be adjusted. to Your music. All you need is to know how.

HP removes low end from detector cct only. The compression is still full band effecting all frequencies the compressor just isn't reacting to low frequencies.

Great video! The side chain HP does'nt actualy let the low end "thruogh", though. It just takes it out of the detection circuit but its still getting compressed.
@HertzDrums10 күн бұрын
Thanks! Yeah, you are right, but actually you are telling the compressor to ignore the low frequencies in terms of attack and release, so to my ears it still sounds like you have less movement of the lows through the compressor overall
