Is there another "All in One" travel credit card that could work?

Great video. I've been going back and forth debating this card with myself and you highlighted some really good points.

US Bank Reserve. 3x on mobile wallet. That would cover gas, lots of dining, groceries & many big box stores.
@ChaseYokoyama Жыл бұрын
I also want to clarify again that I'm not saying the Chase Sapphire Reserve is necessarily the "best" travel credit card out there. Or that you should only have this card. I wanted to make this video to toy with the idea that the Sapphire Reserve could cover all your travel needs if you had only one card to use. Thank you for watching! :)

I've been thinking about the CSR a lot lately. I could really see it being my late-game luxury travel card assuming they eventually make it a bit better. If not, I'll probably just keep the CSP for access to Chase's travel partners and then a card like the CS Platinum for actual luxury travel. But the CSR is definitely on the list!! Nice video as always Chase.
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Жыл бұрын
You're correct! That's another reason it'd be so beneficial for me. @@n_0__

Thanks Spencer! I'm starting the look into the CSR as well. Just like you, I will continue to use the CSP for access to the travel partners.

I largely agree Chase, but it needs a gas multiplier and at least one perm hotel status. Priority Pass in the US kinda sucks. The base multiplier should be 2x as well. Greats points!
@ChaseYokoyama Жыл бұрын
Those would all be GREAT additions to the card for sure. The least they could do is have a grocery or gas category right?

Great video covering the CSR, Chase! This is a great solo travel credit card for all the reasons you mentioned, but it probably needs an overhaul since it hasn't been updated in some time. It fits great as a one-carder for someone who does a lot of domestic travel - especially because of the Chase Travel portal and the Southwest/United UR transfer partners!

Thank you Stan. Agreed. The least they could do is elevate the 60,000 SUB that seems to ALWAYS come with this card.

Great card. I got it during a CSP elevated bonus time and applied in-branch. They were floored that I wasn’t trying to get a CSP but I told them that this card was better for my lifestyle. Instant approval and my highest personal card limit. Used the travel credit on NYC subway almost entirely. Only general luxury travel card I have. Can’t justify the price tag on the Platinum.
@ChaseYokoyama Жыл бұрын
That's awesome to hear John. Saving those $300 on subway purchases is pretty clutch
@NCSU2009 Жыл бұрын
Hard to justify the $550 annual fee when many of the benefits and multipliers overlap with the $95 Preferred. I'd increase the dining multiplier to 4x and add a grocery category like the Amex Gold. Perhaps adding a small boost bonus when transferring to any travel partner would be great too.

Those would be amazing additions. Me, along with many others, are really hoping for a buff to the CSR sometime soon.

I traveled to Bali for the last decade. It's cheap af. Bali has some of the best Hyatt hotel redemptions in the world. They have a bunch of low cost Alilia redemptions as wells as the Vice Roy, Grand Hyatt, and Hyatt regency redemptions. I'd mainly recommend the Alilia chain though (Viceroy if you want to ball hard). However, yeah, I've made insane Hyatt redemptions through Chase in Bali. It's one of the best places in the world to cash out points...for now anyway...because that place has blown up hard in the last few years, the secret is out, it's a huge international travel destination now, and it's getting Waikiki'd hard.

I’m proud to say that I don’t owe you a soda because I didn’t follow directions 🤣, I said the answer as soon as you said “one”. Compelling argument you present here to be honest. I can definitely see the CSR as that standalone credit card that the MAJORITY of the general population would be good with. In my comparison video between the CSR, C1VX, and Amex Plat, the CSR game out on top initially just from looking at it as a “regular” person. But of course, we in the points and miles came would never just settle for one card, so in that case, it falls short of what we want 😂.
@ChaseYokoyama Жыл бұрын
lol you're always too quick with it CJ 😂 Agreed. I probably could've positioned this video better but I wanted to show HOW the CSR could be your only travel card, not WHY it should be. Because as you just said, we should never just rely on having one credit card for everything.

Well yeah, Chase has the best insurances and the most flexible. That alone makes it the best travel set up. Reward multipliers mean nothing. The CC game is based on sign up bonuses not multipliers. You're going to do fractions with multipliers that you'll do with sign up bonuses.

Alternative “one card” is Amex green but in Europe and parts of Asia, LATAM, still woefully hard to use outside of a major metropolis (and even there mostly just hotels accept Amex) Sapphire Reserve is my go to when abroad,… I know it’s a “one card video” BUT the venture/venture X and Sapphire Reserve duo is the two card setup i always travel with.

@logancarman1917 Жыл бұрын
Interesting. I’m debating between the X and CSR. How come you have both?
@jasonkane9942 Жыл бұрын
@@logancarman1917 I’ve had the CSR forever. I hate “opportunity cost” … my main gripe with a lot of dining cards (and amex gold in particular), is that sometimes overseas you eat at establishments within a department store or hotel (seemingly unaffiliated restaurant…like a brand name or celeb chef restaurant located within a hotel or resort complex) and you get 1x because it coded as a hotel. CSR is always good about corrections if a place isn’t coded right. When a dinner costs north of a few hundred bucks with clients or whatever, that adds up when you don’t get the proper points. Also for travel, the 3x across a broad category is amazing. With a big family in tow i want to make sure i earn as much as possible to mitigate further costs for the next trip. As for why both…well the Venture X is essentially $-5 a year. I don’t even consider it a card that costs me money. When I am spending money on non-bonus category spend overseas i never could find a card that earned flexible points past $1/1point. 2 points per dollar is great for general retail etc. I also find the Cap1 ecosystem (savorOne) fills the gaps where i don’t earn bonuses (specifically grocery stores…we rent airbnbs with big groups abroad sometimes. Don’t want to miss out on points). TLDR: filling gaps where others don’t earn points, VX costs me nothing yearly (net), and 3x for broad travel. Never have to earn less than 2 points per dollar when the VX is part of the wallet when overseas (I spend a lot of time overseas)

My final setup right now is cashback (WF Autograph + WF Active Cash + 3 Citi Custom Cash cards). Basically 3%, 2%, 5%, 5%, 5%.
