Which might reverse the effects of the conjoined twin defect effectively killing Yuji and Sukuna as we know them, and could even be what revives the likes of Gojo, Nobara, Nanami, etc. I keep asking myself what the merger's role is in all this and I think I am somewhat close to the answer. I could be reaching here but it at least seems like a viable option for how this all goes down.

I mean....kinda. There was literally no way to kill him just like Sukuna. Kishimoto had to pull that stunt with Zetsu and Kaguya. Cause everyone was getting clapped and he wasn't even the final boss. Then he clapped most of the shinobi alliance, took out the kages (no diff), pulled a perfect Susano with no eyes, clapped all the tailed beasts and the rest of the shinobi world, was dominating the fight against a sage of six paths Naruto and Sasuke, Tucked everyone in with a lalaby. Started fighting Naruto and Sasuke with Several reusable commits. And then Zetsu said hello and rapped Madara up. Sukuna might go out the same way because they still have that monstrosity to deal with after Sukuna.

Realistically, the only real shot they got is for Gojo to return, no cap. The only one left as of 253 is Kusakabe, Yuji is off somewhere, Maki got blasted through a couple of buildings, even the Ski Mask Guy got 3 paneled. As much as Yuji got it in him, he can't solo Sukuna if he couldn't jump him with both Yuta and Rika. Megumi is basically a plant now, and we know Mei Mei isn't going to help. Kusakabe has to 1v1 Sukuna for some time to get people time to get back up, but I know he isn't lasting more than 1 maybe 2 chapters if I'm being generous. Sukuna is either going to win or he's going to get Black Zetsu'd like Madara did and go out in a anti-climactic way.
