Anime is made in Asian cultures which have a vastly different idea of what “demons” are. In western culture they are almost always considered evil, often just for the sake of being evil. But in Asian cultures(especially cultures that had Buddhism etc) it was more of a classification of the type of creature and in many scenarios they were also considered to be reformable and able to grow past what people expect them to be like and to become neutral or even helpful beings. An amazing example of this is the deity Sun Wukong which is considered one of the most powerful deities in Eastern culture who inspired multiple anime series with the most notable character modeled after him being Goku (Meaning he was the original inspiration for Dragon Ball which is considered the father of the Big 3). The main difference with Sukana and the other characters mentioned is that Sukana more embodies a Western idea while many of the other characters more so model Eastern ideas.

Yep i was waiting for Sukuna to show up. I cant speak for the others besides Kurama but from what you shown here its a similar deal. Thanks to Kurama and others. When people thought of "inner demon" they really meant beast mode. Like Hulk, but even Hulk in certain issues can be a real spiteful motherfucker and screw over Banner in ways that would make Sukuna nod in approval. Sukuna put the DEMON back in INNER DEMON. When he gets unleashed there are some serious and brutal consequences. First time hes given time to let loose, he kills Yuji and tortures Megumi. Second time hes given time to let loose. He annihilates an entire city and puts Yuji at ground zero to see the destruction he wrought. Sukuna, pun not intended, is actually a curse. A real detriment to the main character, regardless of the power he possesses.
