2 Things: 1. You didn't mention Battlefury's other passive, which increases your damage against creeps by a whopping 60%. So if your hero has 100 Damage and attacks once every second it already does almost the same for you as Radiance (not considering the 45 ↔ 65 Damage difference) while being 750 Gold cheaper. So while it's in a way attack speed dependant like Maelstrom I don't think it's an overall bad item. 2. Everybody counts the 2150 gold as the "Midas repaying itself" value, but let's be honest here, in which game where you get it do you plan to keep it for the very end? So realistically after getting 1075 Gold you already regained the "loss" in overall farm, although you of course dispose the other 50% until much later in the game.

C4uSt1CO 1. Lifesteal is extremely useful, active or not. 2. This is based on farming. You can farm a single camp equally quick with MoM and BF, but MoM lets you get to camps faster. For 2,000 bloody gold cheaper. You can buy both Midas and MoM for the price of battle fury.

Arguibly he got that part wrong. Meteor Hammer is clearly an S tier item for farming and more! I play it on Nyx, basically a better dagon and a stun follow up, allows for aoe crowd control, kills people with its aoe 90 magic dps for 6 (540 or 305 after 25% reduction). You actually just erase waves, put the enemy at a huge HP/stun disadvantage if you hit 3 of their heroes, easy to hit with disables that lasts approx 2.5s, like Nyx. That is not counting the stats that gives sustainability and HP.

I've been buying necrobook on my pos 5 supports for ages, it's nice to finally be validated. It is in fact even better than Erik makes out: -When you send necros to go farm lane, it's the necros who get ganked, not you. -Because Tier 3 reveals invis, suddenly you are spending less money on counter warding halfway through the game. -When you are a squishy support who dies instantly come the teamfight because they have a backline bandit like spectre, storm, weaver etc, necro books give you a way to stay in the fight; or if the enemy is too strong at that point, you can send them to split push while the enemy are distracted fighting your carry. -Necro gives you mana regen, which you can spend farming even more creeps. -Necro is especially good on anyone who does not right click very hard, because the necros right click for you. -Outside of the recipe, the components themselves are not useless or particularly expensive: if a casual bracer is bought to tank up, why not a casual belt? My favourite heroes for necrobook are Crystal Maiden, Enchantress, and Undying. I'd do the same on tree if I wasn't already buying meteor hammer and did not need blink. The only issues with necros as a farming item is firstly that if you are using them to farm remotely you are not getting the xp, secondly if you can feed the enemy if you are not careful (though this is still better than feeding yourself).

When you have your necrobook done as a support pos5, probabbly not before 20min+, your two/three cores should already big enough to farm all the avaiable creeps within a minute and so i steal from them. Except they want to team, but then you should be part of this anyway. I might be wrong, though :)

Midas gives you reliable gold- which means you don’t lose it on death- meaning that you can’t lose the gold you gained from it unless you buy back or buy an item- making it great for supports who want buyback, or for heroes that die a lot. It makes farming “reliable”

Meme hammer is such a good item, you can just cast it from afar on a creep wave and go back to a safe spot knowing that every single creep hit by it will die, and that you probably won't get picked off unless the enemy in on to your strategy. The stats are good, it's affordable, can be used on buildings, can be used on heroes, it stuns... Invest in memeor hammer.

One of the biggest things for MoM is the move speed. I forget which KZbinr said it, but he pretty much said you should only ever use the active to MOVE. Some times during a camp, but you can't shave 4 to 5 seconds off just getting to and from jungle camps with it.

i like how you explained midas here, esspecially addressing newer players. considering i am a newer player too, i think that that is pretty good, the last patch before the current one (i dont know exactly the name or 7.(dont even know)) I build midas in one game because a streamer was building it on a hero i like to play Most newer dota player come from either League or Hots, I come from Smite, where every single possibility to get more EXP is exploited, the "adc" role and their support tend to build Clear comps, Last hits dont really do that much so just clearing the wave is better (a last hit gives you about 2 gold extra on top of the clear gold) so after you clear the wave and the wave is pushing into the enemy you either go get their "purple buff" (anti armor/magic resist buff) or your own purple buff. that gives you about half a level of extra experience, junglers wont say alot about it and it is generally frowned around if your jungler even leaches exp from that buff considering the early extra damage a "clearing comp" has compared to a "hyper scale comp" (so mostly early to late game comp thing) Considering there is not really generally a jungler role in Dota i had to get used to a 212 comp matchup with either your top or botlaner (yes this is what i called the off lane back then) to go get some extra experience from, Considering that I picked up what the item is pretty early and understanding the game a bit more in general (I hit master tier in smite 2 years ago) about moba's and the importance of farming, i picked up the item every single time and cleared the least worth creep with it, I saw how good the item was at an early point, it also made me try and acctually jungle (ursa mostly, how overpowered that might sounds in the jungle) I am not great at all, but after playing calibration i am currently (first year ranked) sitting in the upper area of Legend with this streamer i talked about (ancient 7) telling me i can do alot more if i'd acctually played more so i mean, i think its more the idea of reading up what an item does. Sometimes in normals i like to pick certain heroes that i really never play and acctually have to still read what an item does. This is really why i like dota to be fair, The difficulty compared to the others mobas!

Imo MoM is S+ on ranged agility carries atleast, it gives you insane farming potential with the active if you have any damage item whatsoever and builds into 2 late game items a majority of agi carries build, so you spend 2000 gold towards late game items but it also lets you skyrocket your gpm I phrased this horrible but hopefully you whoever actually reads this gets the memo

Necro book being used to push only sounds dumb in a vacuum. Yes, if you were sending your necro units in alone against a tower, you would do next to nothing. What it actually does is push _with_ your creeps, _against_ the enemy creeps and into towers. The result is you will have more creeps attacking for longer. Of course something like a mek or vlads could be said to have a similar effect, it requires your hero to actually be there, at risk, when you could be being useful somewhere else. HotD is probably the closest to necro book on paper, the choice between the two being situational. Would you rather have necro creeps with their unique spells, or a beefed up neutral of your choice, or catapult? It just depends.

On Eul, you can use the invulnerability of Cyclone to ensure siege creeps about to get destroyed by your towers, it always works for me.

RageCricket007 I’m not too good a player, but I don’t think it’s worth the opportunity cost. Pudge can farm decently, as well as needs to be killing heroes in laning phase. A Midas will give him more EXP, but a blink will allow him to get way more kills regardless, and a spirit vessel will allow him to never have to go back to base, so I personally think it balances itself out regardless.

I kinda don't even wanna tell anyone about this. Necrobook + Dazzle... Creeps resets duration from Poison Touch on hit. More targets for your Shadow Wave and if you walk into any creep camp in the jungle and almost one-shot it with Shadow Wave. Later when you got lvl 3 book, get Shivas Guard so you can get vision on high ground and destroy any and all wards on the map.

That's weird on Beastmaster I use necro's to farm enemy jungle while i farm lanes... and that's for two reasons. 1) Steal enemy farm possibility. 2) See when enemies are coming. Since they run rel fast they can always run away, and they always ALWAYS find wards...

Battle fury is bad for most heroes, but there are a few that work well with it, and one, AM, that absolutely has to have it.

Not to mention the buildup is a multi-pronged road where you can get what you need when you need it (hp, mana, or damage if you're otherwise good) and far beyond that is *consistency.* There's no reliance on crit chance, there's no need to proc 3-4 different Maelstrom bounces to kill a creep wave, it even takes up your Quelling Blade slot so it becomes super effective against NP. And more than that? It makes every melee hero who has it have something they would not otherwise have to nearly the same extent. Wave clear. BF isn't just a farming item. And that's why I don't have to care about a DOTA-quitting hipster calling it a bad item I shouldn't get on, say, Broodmother. Brood pushes, it's what she does. It enables pushing faster and without her broodlings having to sit with her to do it. Enough hp and mana to sustain consistently. And late-game? When every second counts? I'd rather devour an entire creep wave in 1-2 attacks than the 3-4-5-6-7+ you still need to deliver for *every other item on this list.*

Brood doesn't clear creepwaves any faster than any other right clicker, and an overreliance on spiderlings to do that job is what leads to her counters. I have won more games with her because I can delete creepwaves to get at their base faster than they can coordinate to stop the push more than I have playing a decent teamfighter. Desolator, Orchid, BKBs, et cetra? They're not bad items on Brood, obviously. But BF works for me, and turns my already high mobility into outperforming AM in farm, or pushing like Tinker could only dream of. It works for me. And if it doesn't for you? You're not trying it. As does BF work for many, MANY heroes if you know what you're doing.

I have to agree on the battlefury rate. It is only a cosiderable pickup if your hero has skills synergy with it, like PA (triple shifting dagger cleave), Jugg (omnislash cleave when people standing close to share the slash hit) and AM (has no skill synergy, but farming speed is mainly determine by how fast you can kill creep with no traveling time in between packs). The only reason Battlefury has such high purchase rate are because these heroes are pick almost in every game. Other than that, no other hero in any giving situation should consider buying battlefury. Did I forget to mention, please don't get a 20mins+ BF, it is worse than seeing ppl getting a 20 mins BF than a 20 mins hand of midas. SMH

The MoM getting C rating is baffling, the thing give u lifesteal which is good at early game, +10 aspd +20 dmg and an active which make farming a camp or waves real quick, even potentially make carry become an early figther in early clash. And THAT'S NOT ALL, u can actually DISASSEMBLE the items back, which lead to, commonly, making Satanic and Butterfly. No gold wasted for buying this item early game at all.

So midas becomes worth it after 16 minutes.. You forgot it also gives attack speed, enough attack speed to be worth 500 instant gold compared to mask of madness(which is a temporary buff, therefore it's worth a bit more than that) or 750 compared to gloves of haste. That means the item techically is 1.5 times less. So if you're an hero that needs attack speed and gold, Hand of midas might pay back in around 11 minutes. It does mean hand of midas does set you back with a 1400 gold disadvantage for most of it, but endgame(after like 40 mins), you're looking at a potential 2000 extra gold for an early 1400 gold disadvantage for a few minutes. And that's just exactly acting like it gives you only extra gold. IT gives you extra XP and instantly, and eliminating the big tanky creeps on a creep camp can, early on, speed up farm quite a bit. (where you'd take like 10 seconds killing it, you just one shot it and to boot get extra gold and XP) Overall, If you Can handle a small gold disadvantage and are planning to go late game, hand of midas is a good tool, but All those calculations ASSUME you always grab the gold the instant it's off cooldown.The problem is it could even lock you into going for farm when your team is about to get ganked on a lane where you can't grab a creep. But that's rare occasions probably (You could always quickly grab the creep midfight if you're being daring, may even push the lane the way you want since you can deny your own creeps with it)
