I was half-laughing, half-cringing listening to how damn close this was to what some men have actually been ridiculously complaining about lately. This show is so on point it's scary.

Lets not forget that with every real encounter there is a made up one close by. Some people have made false claims to try and cash in, which makes the real ones harder to believe when they come forward. I mean let's face it even if someone says yes they can claim they said no or were intimidated into saying yes. Sex is becoming a business transaction that needs to be in writing with many witnesses and a be notarized. Its really the only safe way.

They make it look as if men have no clue what consent is, which is not true. These sick people in Hollywood know damn well what they did. Simply telling men to not harass women is an oversimplification. We need to support ideas that are proven to bring down sexual assault ( teaching self defense/ teaching what a person wants in a sexual situation)
@HuckleberryHim
@HuckleberryHim 6 жыл бұрын
Or we can teach women to dress and act modestly, and not continue to empower womanizers by fetishizing "dominant" men. Problem solved. It takes two to tango, and this issue involves guilty men as well as guilty women.
@jrg2866
@jrg2866 6 жыл бұрын
Actually, it's quite possible that they genuinely didn't know. A lot of the people accused said that they continued to advance until the women resisted or said to stop, but women are more likely to freeze up, try to defuse the situation, or mentally dissociate if they're scared.
@_theactionkid_7572

Jonathan Greco And we teach people that it's wrong to grope people like that, that teaching is all over our society. A lot of the people accused of these atrocities in Hollywood usually hide behind the message of feminism. They know what they did and they still did it. And as for women freezing up, this is why you teach people what they want in a sexual encounter and how to address it, and if someone still advances on them, you teach them self defense, both are proven to help bring down sexual assault.

Some people in the comments either are joking and I'm slow or are oversimplifying. When it's suggested you seek consent like a woman saying yes it doesn't only mean yes. Non verbal clues like a lack of abject terror on her face, No pushing you off her and running away, not tasering you can also mean yes

"like they said it, out loud, clearly, like they said a verbal yes" When I was younger, I'd literally ask, and eventually it became a turn off for women as I got older. I don't advocate being aggressive or overpowering resistance, but asking "do you want to have sex" can be a real mood killer.

Since when do women ever say: "YES, I want sex"? It isn't uncommon that women typically take the position that if they're so open about sex and directly say yes and are forward with it, then there's fear that other women(people) would label them as sluts. What do you do when they say NO, but it's in the 'moment' and it's borderline NO as in seriously NO, or NO as in role-playing NO? What happens if someone touches someone by accident and happens to brush a 'sexual area?' Oh, Tim and Jane both bent down at the same time to pick up a pencil and when Tim reached for the pencil he accidentally brushed Jane's breast? Isn't is possible as well that a Male or Female boss could be so overbearing that, a subordinate could 'claim' sexual harassment just to get back at them? You see, we're betting that every single person that claims sexual assault it 100% correct all the time. Where is the due process here?
@Sparky_007
@Sparky_007 6 жыл бұрын
1. "What do you do when they say NO, but it's in the 'moment' and it's borderline NO as in seriously NO, or NO as in role-playing NO?" Have you ever had sex with a partner who says NO in a role-playing way because it induces more excitement? Well yes, these things do happen. Where is the line drawn between "Your Honor: when I said NO I 'REALLY' meant it." (20 years later) vs. "Your Honor: when I said NO it was a role-play in the heat of the moment which induced more excitement"? In this case, it's so easy for someone to change their mind. Where do you find the truth in the accusation? 2. "What happens if someone touches someone by accident and happens to brush a 'sexual area?" These things CAN happen and mostly it is chalked up to an accident. I've witnessed a few of these incidents where it obviously looked like an accident and the 'victim' got all bent out of shape. What vehicle is in place to protect someone who had no mal-intent whatsoever? 3. I'm not trying to de-legitimize sexual assault victims, and I damn well support their rights to bring up such abuses in an appropriate manner to company HR, proper authorities and channels. What I am very concerned about is how this situation is seemingly turning into some kind of witch-hunt. Where there's almost a 'guilty until proven innocent' mob mentality due to the use of Social Media to freely announce such claims. There is basically nothing to prevent 'false accusations' over a social medial outlet. People's careers can be noticeably negatively impacted by such accusations, and what if some of those were false? This amounts to slander and defamation which may cause financial damages. I believe that one can't simply and automatically believe that one is telling the truth when it comes to a sexual assault accusation simply because one has the 'courage' to come out and say something. In the case of Mr. Rapp, can he come out and actually provide 'proof' to his accusation? Mind you, this was over 30 years ago. Does Mr. Rapp's notoriety give him privilege and grounds alone for what he said as 'proof enough'? Does Mr. Spacey acknowledge and confirm Mr. Rapp's accusations? NO, he does not. Mr. Spacey can not and does not remember. Is Mr. Spacey telling the truth? Who knows? How to establish it? So, here we are.. Mr. Rapp makes an accusation, which as far as I know there is no proof to back it up. The result is Mr. Spacey's career takes a noticeable hit and costs him the International Emmy Founder Award, and 'potentially' had something to do with House of Cards not being renewed. It may also have future financial impacts on Mr. Spacey. THAT, is grounds for a lawsuit and Mr. Spacey has every right to file suit against Mr. Rapp. But will that happen? Likely not. Because likely neither party can provide proof to support their positions. END RESULT Mr. Spacey takes a hit from an accusation which may or may not be true and incurs reputation and financial impact because of it. I don't know what world people are living in, but that is not right in my book. Just coming out on social media and making accusations can be done by anyone, with any reason, regardless if it's true or not, and such activity can and may likely cause negative impact in regards to career, reputation and financial. If the shoe were on the other foot and you found yourself being accused of something that you know you didn't do, yet the accuser feels free to go out on social media and spread that accusation. You then lost your job, your spouse/partner left you and now you have this 'mark' hanging over your head, just because you were slandered over social media, how would you feel? My point is, this can very likely happen. Not everyone is filled with good intention. There are plenty of people out there in this world who would stoop low and make false accusations, just to enact a sort of revenge.

Sparky 1. Get a safe word. If you don't know the person well enough or you haven't got a safe word, try asking him/her again if you're uncertain. Also, being "in the moment" is not an excuse, as the partner has the right to change their mind even in the middle of sex. 2. If it's by accident, then it's usually easily solved by a sincere apology. 3. The problem with your reasoning here is that you're turning the tables on the most common scenario. In no uncertain terms are the victim the one who recieves the most hate, threats and social stigma, even if he or she is proven right. Just look at the number of women who has come forward due to the "metoo" campaign, whos' stories are that they didn't dare come forward because they feared all the hate and doubt they would face. Imagine if we treated robbery victims the same way as rape and sexual assault victims. "-Why did you dress in a fancy suit, are you sure that you didn't want to be robbed?" "-Are you sure that you didn't say anything that would have made him think that you wanted him to take your money?" "-If you didn't want him to take your stereo, why did you let him into your flat?" Besides, both Harvey Weinstein and Roman Polanski have been able to continue for decades in the film industry and Donald Trump is president of the USA. Doesn't seem like accusations of rape have done much to hinder their careers.

Jordan Klepper: (raises an unsteady hand) Comedy Central:"seriously?... well... okay" THE OPPOSITION WITH JORDAN KLEPPER IS BORN!!! Seriously, I don't have a problem with political satire, but when you deliver it with such a lack of confidence, the show just turns into another slot to fill time on CC's wonderful and ever lasting downward spiral. I miss the days when CC had a solid line up of shows, but from my count that was when they still had MST3K. Is anyone else feeling this?

On a side note, I realize I'm watching, and commenting, on this via KZbin and the push to remain relevant while still wrestling with things like ratings vs. the media consumption of the world makes production that much more complicated in terms of running a network. Just for clarification, I'm saying this with genuine concern for one of my favorite media sources, not from a place of just simply trying to shit on them.

Saying yes once is not a blanket approval for anything and everything else that happens. Just because I consent to oral sex, does not automatically mean that I consent to anal. Besides, the person could legitimately agree to something, and then while it's happening, they change their mind because they realize they do not like what's currently happening. Would you still continue, even if they stop acting pleasured/say no? It's when shit like that happens, that sex becomes rape/assault.

You know, like if you are a cop, and during a traffic stop you pull out a baggy of cocaine and say "sex or prison" or if you break into her house and put a gun to her head and after that, she agrees. Or this one, where you work somewhere that every other woman who has complained about sexual harassment is fired within 6 months, so you just don't say anything about the hands rubbing your ass or the female dress code that says no pants allowed. Those are the types of consent the OP is talking about. Because, it is technically a yes, right? smh see, this is why we need to teach consent, they don't get it.
