Thanks for the video, good work! That’s a very good advice, to look at the connectivity before buying a projector. I didn’t when I’ve purchased Benq W1210st which had an amazing image, but connected to my Apple TV which has only one hdmi connection, couldn’t get the sound out of the source (apple tv) to my Sonos beam /system and the projector did not have an audio optical out (Sonos beam can be connected via hdmi or optical), didn’t know what adaptor from AV audio out to hdmi or optical to buy, addressed this question on the forum, long story short, with regret I had to return it. Now I am searching for a replacement and it is very difficult to find projectors with optical out (only a couple from Lg) at a reasonable price (around max £1,200). Is SPDIF connection of this projector ok for sound out to a sound system? Sorry if my question is dumb, I want to make sure before another wrong purchase. If you have other projectors recommendations would be great. Thank you very much, to whomever took the time to read this

Hi, what settings have you got the Optoma on? Just because I have played full hd content on it and for some reason you can see the pixels, also looked into calibrating it but that can be quite expensive

I wonder how the UHD51 would compare to my Epson 3700? I know the resolution is higher, but I'm mainly wondering about the color quality. I have the Epson calibrated at 6500k, and Eco mode is plenty bright on my 110 inch screen.

this i great, question, my epson tw550 need a new bulb but was a badass projector in 2012 is it worth the upgrade? im in a very dark room on a 100inch screen but i love the picture on my tw5500. as a gamer i will buy the ps5 end of this year, should i buy 4k projector? uhd51 or uhd60? is it really so much better? im from netherlands my english might be not that good sorry for that. thanks

Hey greats video. I’ve just purchased this model and in fast moving scenes I’m seeing some weird pixel/marks showing up in certain scenes. In 1080p is seems to look decent but when viewing 4K movies via sky q it happens. Any ideas why this could be

Hi Thanks for the review. Did you test the the 3d as there are still 3d fans out there. Does it come with the 3d glasses reciever built in or do you have to buy it separately? Does it play 3d movies in 1080p or upscale to 4k? At present I have a Optoma HD33 and you have to plug the glasses receiver in at the back. I'm looking for a upgrade to 4k with 3d play back. If this helps i use my HD144X with 3D all the time and Im pretty sure they Both come with the same 3D features, that being DLP link 3D without a receiver necessary, and the option for VESA 3D with a receiver.

Can you show a comparison with the benq HT3550 or TK800M? I would like to buy a projector in this price range and I it is hard to decide between Optoma or Benq. I hear all the time about the sharpness of the Optoma, but is it better? The contrast ratio is also something that I can not understand. The Optomas have hundreds of thousand while the Benqs just thousands.

I have got mine on order all thanks to this video , if however i am not 100% happy with this projector you will definitely know !! , Its going in a dedicated cinema room [converted garage] on a sapphire electric screen & the projector will be connected using cat 6 cable as advised by my local Richer sounds ! , so we are looking forward to seeing how good the results are with the fully dark room watching both 4K & 3D films . thank you for this review and helping my purchase desision , I will let you know my views the next few weeks .

I was thinking about getting the UHZ60. Would you recommend saving the $3k+ dollars and get this one instead? Is this still the best bang for the buck? Should I worry about bulb life cause that’s why I wanted the UHZ60 with the laser.

love this projector and from gameing perspective just played fallen order on it and it was awsome, some tearing and not 100hz but not missing the gync 100hz ultra wide for gameing. will still do fps on it but everythng else projector. i cane here because after 6 months i decided to clean air fi;lter, only to find no air filter so plse remember to put your own air filter in as the people i bought it from told me optoma doesnt put filters in.

I got this last week and I love it! Its absolutely great! My first ever projector. I do have I problem figuring out the hdr input. Every time i try to play 4k content on my roku 4k stick the input loses signal and I have to restart the machine. It does not let me select the hdr display. Any idea how to fix this?

I think Rainbow is more down to the individual. I certainly have never noticed it on this model.

Great review , I also have the hd143x and was wanting to know what the fan noise is like on this in full brightness as the hd143x is far to noisey at full brightness and I need it at max to get the best picture. Eco is just too dull. Thanks

The info on the UHD50 is slightly incorrect. It does support PC 3D. I know, because I was the first one to manage to get it working in 1080p 120fps (60 per eye) 3d for gaming and movies on avforums. :)

I have recently purchased the UHD51 (agonised over the Epson TW9300). I had similar problems with HDMI 1 input from an oppo 203. The 51 seems to be very sensitive to the input. For me, a 2160 24hz is a default input in that the projector accepts the input quickly with little “hum and buzz” from the chipset. Move outside this parameter and the projector takes a minute or two to accept the input and buzzes very loadly. I cannot fault the image quality....but the noise is an issue outside 2160 24hz.

Are you going through an AVR? If so the HDCP 2.2 will have handshake issues which you will need to fix in settings

The most important question is, how are the black levels in real life as 500000:1 contrast is only found on 10k plus projector. If this the real contrast then this projector must have better black levels than my old JVC hd 350.

Top and Bottom very small and not really noticeable especially if you line the projector with your screens black surround

I have this on a 120” fixed display and you cannot see the grey bars when projecting in letterbox format. If you get up really close with a very bright scene, you might detect it...but then again, your specifically looking for it

@@livestronglance7587 i am in the process of convincing wifey to get a 50 or a 51, but both have pretty good lumens output at 2400, so ambient light shouldn't be as much of a problem as with previous projectors, say 5-10 years ago...my Mitsubishi has only about 12-1500, and it's not really enough...i hope that helps 😉

I still stick to Benq w1080st . It is still bright screen. Australian local TV channels still HD not UHD ready, even new release movies on iTunes still HD. Even so you bought UHD projector Benq w1700 or TK800 price of AUD $1,800.00 or optoma UHD65 the price of AUD $4,600.00... you’re wasting your money!!!. UHD smart TV like LG, Samsung and Sony Bravia of 75 inch prices from ranging from AUD $ 2,800 to AUD $4,200.00, people not buying them because isn’t worth it...
