The last time I visited the MET it was 1991 ,when I was in college. So, many things have changed at the museum since then. I'm delighted to known new areas in thw building have been opened and new exhibits have been made. Its awesome...

The “Angel Tree” with all the Neapolitan preseppio/crèche figures is amazing. There are a few interesting vids on YT which tell it’s history dating back several centuries. In one they interview the woman whose family collected the figures during her trips to Italy, finally donating it to the MET in 1957. It’s an annual exhibit there which stays up through the first week in January. Would recommend!

I grew u p in NYC, lived there post college, went HS two blockks from museum, visited the museum as a child and a young adult. I never heard the name pronounced as Vox, always Vo.

I’d’ve pronounced Vaux as Voh to rhyme with Faux and not Vox to rhyme with Fox.

Bring back the wrought iron and get rid of all that white paint. Sheesh. No sense of beauty at a museum?

“To my amazement there were bits of….original architecture that survived” 🤦♂️ It was built in 1880 guys! Not even 150 years old! calm down! Of course it “survived”!
@downrighthorizontal99315 күн бұрын
i think they were referring to the sheer amount of renovation & expansion that has been done to the MET since then; a lot has changed with maybe little thought to preserving the original architecture
