I love Barbara Bain..she made Mission Impossible.... She deserved the Golden Globe for each season she was in...one of my favorite episodes with Barbara is "Mission: Impossible" The Heir Apparent (TV Episode 1968) - where Barbara played the blind Princess Celine... What a tear jerker in the final scene...Archbishop Djelvas discreetly thanks Cinnamon(as princess celine) in an aside, and adds "whoever you are"(you saved my country...)

The first Mission Impossible movie committed a travesty in its depiction of Jim Phelps. I don't care what the movie said, Jim Phelps was a hero. We miss you, Mr. Graves.

I know ya'll are angry but I honestly think the movie would be perfect if De Palma just hadn't named Voight Jim Phelps. That movie was an interesting set up for a new team and IM leader for more movies. They just had to be 'tricky' and exploitative about it the pricks. Graves would of done a cameo too, a real missed opportunity .

I loved Mission Impossible. It was my favorite shows as a kid. My 6th grade teacher gave us a writing assignment, and I made my own Mission Impossible pastiche. It was my first short story and learned how to do rough drafts. It was kinda funny when one of my classmates ran up to me after school school saying how stupid it was. I said yup! I stupided myself into an A what did you get for your story and he ran way. I wrote Westerns throughout my high school years, spent 16 years on my serial and then got out, got published in a Edgar Rice Burroughs fan mag for a Tarzan book review and then drifted out of my writing mode. But Mission Impossible started me on my writing phase.

I wish we could have seen Greg Morris. Would have loved to hear his insight. He was fantastic. Loved him the most. So underrated. Barney had to be my second character next to Jim in that entire series. He was the brains of the job. If it wasn't for him, they could never pull off those heists. It was so awesome seeing a Black man on TV like that (never watched it in original run as a kid, reruns in the 80s). Barbara Bain was a classic diva. They could never replace her since. Lesley Ann Warren was aight but never as good as Barbara in the female role. Martin Landau was awesome too.

The 50s '60s and '70s had the absolute best TV series' ever! The Fugitive; It takes a Thief; The FBI; Mannix: Maverick; Gunsmoke; Mission Impossible; Streets of San Francisco; Rawhide; The Rifleman; Perry Mason: Bonanza; The Man from U.N.C.L.E.; The Barbary Coast; The Rockford Files; Ozzie and Harriet; Leave it to Beaver; I Love Lucy; Rin-Tin-Tin; Lassie; Bat Masterson; Star-Trek; Love American Style; Walt Disney presents: Mousketeer Theater (and The Mickey Mouse Club); Ironside; Twilight Zone; Dark Shadows; The Addams Family; The Munsters; Dean Martin's Celebrity Roasts (so funny, you'll cry!; and so many, many more. Nowadays, there's nothing much but trash-shows and Ham-actors and they (even if they just played on a stupid reality show are all called "stars"!!! THAT was really unbelieveable when I first became aware of it via magazines (and when the hell is this stupid REALITY crap going to end?)! Well, they are all kin, so it's doubtful anybody can actually write a script. Just because you're kin to Bruce Gellar or Aaron Spelling or a Barrymore/Howard/Garner/Voight doesn't mean you inherited anything but their DNA (and possibly not even that)- certainly not their talent!. A shame too, but, what can one expect? Almost every modern actor is kin to another one; or to a director, producer, old-time movie actor(s), etc,. It was ok for a short while (say the Bridges and Douglas' and Montgomery's); till its gotten so incredibly ridiculous that even poor old uncle "Oscar" was beginning to tarnish from the oh-so-obvious lack of any BRAND NEW talent to choose from - in television or film. It wouldn't surprise me to be told that at least 80% or more of the film industry today (excluding extras-(or nmaybe not)) is related (i.e., Coppala to Cage to Shira,. Voight to Jolie (then her kids and Hawn's kids...ahh, hell...it's just too much BS - since it isn't about talent and the love of the art any longer--it's about sewing up the industry for the ELITE, shall we say, since that's what they think they are - and keeping the MONEY in the family!!

i would go 60's to 90's for me. TV between these decades were excellent across the board. I don't even mean just primetime but also daytime and kids programming. All across the board, especially the 80s and 90s. The networks were on the ball. Damn you did make a good point about TV today. Network TV does't really exist anymore. Well it does but not like it used to be. Ever since Netflix and Hulu, TV has never been the same. And HBO put a dent in the networks too. The networks struggle to keep something that's not either a medical drama or a cop drama afloat on TV. And reality TV. Genre TV is now on the streaming platforms now. They are definitely shining on them though

THINGS I LEARNED FROM WATCHING MISSION IMPOSSIBLE-1.English is a completely universal language. 2. A lifelike mask of another person can be made in ten minutes using paper mache. 3. A world famous model seen on magazine covers could easily walk around unrecognized as a secret agent (it would be like Kim Kardashian being hired as a secret agent!) 4. Plane reservations can be organized for trips overseas in the next ten minutes. 5. The 'Secretary' doesn't know how to give information over the telephone.

Mission Impossible forever the brilliant idea of super spy's that was from the beginning was just so smart and full of gadgets and clever tech way a head of it's time and the aspect of the the way they catch people out or solve a problem with a tiny filick of switch or something that completely through you is just perfection. The star's that made series were both right and made you remember them for there was quite a lot of surprises with guest stars and returning one's to. The original and favourite TV series never used to miss it but I think there some episodes that never got seen or a few bloopers as well I imagine there's a ton of outtakes and a lot of props that went wrong or something silly that made the show it was?

At least twice. Once on "Mission: Impossible." (You may remember the episode - "Illusion" - where she played a cabaret singer.) The other with then-hubby Landau on "The Andy Williams Show" to do a performance piece, "When We Were Small." (And on the same night as the S5 "M:I" premiere that introduced Lesley Warren as new IMF agent Dana Lambert.) Yet she was no singer really, the songs she did in that "M:I" episode took several takes and the most passable were used. But those numbers are regarded highly by her fans. Go figure.

In fact, there were moments of humour in the show -- often very effective. Martin Landau seemed to be playing deranged neo-nazis and sinister communists with his tongue in his cheek.

That is so not true. Leonard Nimoy did a phenomenal job on the show and the stories were excellent.

@@OasisJK22 - Nimoy, however, thought he was wasted on the show, acting-wise. (He was probably wasted in another way in his time there - he had developed a drinking problem whilst "Star Trek" was still on the air.)

What’s not to understand about Mission Impossible? They conned the criminals. I liked he ones better with Peter Graves leading the gang. Only saw a couple when Nimoy was part of the team.

To his credit (and earning our admiration), Peter Graves organized a Los Angeles city ban on gas-powered leaf blowers. We all know what a disruptive annoyance and health hazard those infernal things are. Your bone head neighbor brings it out at the worst times, with no consideration for your peace.

Mission Impossible was always a great series. I actually like the movies, but let’s be honest, they really did Jim Phelps dirty. The best thing that happened was that Peter Graves was not in it. Can never imagine him as Phelps and becoming a traitor to the IMF.

Graves couldn't imagine all that either and was upset at how the film producers did so. Greg Morris was even more so, so much that he actually walked out of the premiere of the movie. (Morris died not long after.)

I didn't know that. And I heard ST was less costly than Lost In Space. I read that the magic number for a series was about 5 years or at least 100 episodes, for it to make the maximum amount in rerun syndication.
@deckofcards87
@deckofcards87 7 жыл бұрын
+phillyflash43 Yeah it is about 100 episodes...which ST didn't even come close to completing: only 3 seasons (I think) before it was cancelled; It was an absolute flop. But the power of it's cult audience was something to be reckoned with.
