His name is just Mikael 😂 He's from a time before second names were a thing. They are the Mikaelsons because they are the "sons of Mikael". That's how it used to work back in the day and that's where all second names ending in son come from. It's the fathers name + son.

The writers clarified that werewolf bites mimic Rabies symptoms A well fed Elijah was delerious after a single bite and could barely walk After two, he was instantly knocked out and stayed like that for hours Rebecca was knocked out after 2-3 and didn't get up for an entire day Mikael who barely fed in 5 months gets half a dozen bites Slaughters all the Wolves Effortlessly overpowers Elijah Doesn't heal or feed Nearly overpowers Klaus Gets surprised by a sudden tunde blade stab not knowing of its very existence And then after all that With the werewolf venom STILL in his system, proceeds to remove the Tunde blade On His Own That is Unthinkable for any original A Healthy Mikael was strong enough that All 5 of his children Never even THOUGHT of Fighting back against him 5 V 1 for a 1000 years He decisively overpowers Elijah, pre-hybrid klaus and Rebecca together in the flashbacks No wonder Elijah says fighting back against a Healthy Mikael is simply Not possible

I don't know if it has already been said before but Mikael last name isn't mikaelson. Last name wasn't a thing during that time but some viking sometimes had something akin to last name after their name to show who their father was especially if their father was famous. Vikings take the first name of their father as their "last name" and add son at the end if they are a son and dóttir if they are a daughter. Mikaelsson literally means mikael's son and rebekah last name should be mikaelsdóttir as in mikael's daughter but I guess to keep with the times, they chose to have the same last name regardless of gender. Also it should be mikaelsson not mikaelson. One "s" if more of a westernized version of the viking naming convention, for example robertson or anderson. The originals might have modified their last name to just have one "s" to fit in with the times. Michael last name would be whatever his father's last name was + "son". But again, he also might not have had a last name at all.

Klaus even says so himself Lol, in the current Mikael whopped klaus's butt in both their fights despite being weakened by werewolf venom and the tunde blade Ohh you mean the two times klaus sneak attacked and killed him Yeah, whatever Klaus has more plot armour than the entire vd cast together and they have to kill off Mikael for klaus to stay alive

I now ask, where are Finn's defenders now? Make him out to be the biggest victim here and then say there is absolutely nothing he could have done to deserve being daggered. For 900 years? That's too much. But the act itself means something from Klaus. Elijah said Finn was a danger, given his self hatred and the lengths he is willing to go to here and on TVD added to possible momentary insanity 900 years ago then I'm pretty sure he was fucking danger.
