This has to be my favorite scene in the whole freaking episode. They one hundred percent should have written it differently so that Elijah *had to* or otherwise gained anything from dying. In my head, I reimagine it to be that the Hollow was too strong for just Klaus to take it with him to the grave - in one piece, the Hollow could have reformed, but dying split in two meant it was gone forever. Moreover, I like to think that Elijahs sacrifice is what bought enough time for Klaus to have a final goodbye with his family where he is happy and is giving them something happy and bright to remember him by. I am very happy that the story ends with both brothers gone together, because that felt like the only right way.

I feel like if Hope got to have the life that they wanted for her Elijah would be the Uncle to like teach her piano and culture and take her to places in Europe and all of that stuff; Rebecca would take her shopping and make sure she had the best outfits always Klaus would teacher about painting and New Orleans and jazz music Marcel would be like a big brother and he would protect her all the time and always be the one intimidate the new boyfriend and Haley would be the loving and sweet mom with a bit of a stern side, Cole would be the uncle that spoils her rotten and brings her gifts and teach her all about his time with witches, her aunt Freya like in the original show would be the one to give her daily lessons on how to control her magic, if Phil was still there I could see him reading to her and being all around just a loving and kind Uncle. I just wish we got to see all of that
