I've never thought about that, but yeah. Kunark definitely feels very pulp, Robert E. Howard, Conan.

Kevin makes a really good point about how Kunark was developed with the intention of being more “dark”. Evil in Kunark takes a different approach then Classic which was a bit more traditional fantasy and cartoonish.

I love the fantastic, more cartoonish feel of original EQ. It's something we talk about a lot with our new project. Kunark was great in going a bit darker, but also maintaining that for the most part. Good observation!

That's badass that we basically got to play some of his D&D campaigns in EQ!

If I remember right, Norrath generally was largely based on someone's D&D campaigns, either Bill Trost or Tony Garcia I don't recall. edit: Yeah, Tony.

is there any way to get a copy of this 5k year history from that drawer it was in? im building norrath in minecraft and it would be helpful to know this backstory.

Unlikely. Seems like most of the folks I've talked to no longer have access to their old docs.
