Scholars have long wondered about the origins of the Gnostic movement in early Christianity, but have come to no clear conclusions. In this groundbreaking lecture, Richard Smoley, author of ""Forbidden Faith: The Secret History of Gnosticism,"" presents a radical new theory. He argues that Gnosticism arose out of the failure of apocalyptic expectations in early Christianity: the first Christians believed that the end of the world was coming soon, but it did not. Gnosticism arose out of this disappointment. Richard also explains the basics of Gnosticism. Take this opportunity to hear his bold new thesis.
Richard Smoley is the author of twelve books on spirituality, philosophy, and religion. His latest book, ""Introduction to the Occult,"" was published in January 2022 by GD Media.
