They, the future brokers, were grabbing people and things that would have been dead or otherwise destroyed. So it wasn't changing the timeline of the past because events were playing out the same anyway.

Kind of like the premise behind the movie Freejack (1992). Not to be confused with the somewhat similarly named New Jack City (1991)...

Ed and crew ran into that storm not because of Pria but because it was on the course to their destination. Pria just picked somewhere she knew they'd be on the way to fake her crash. They're snatching stuff from the past just before it's destroyed, so Amelia would've died and vanished when her plane crashed but instead she and her plane were zipped to the future. Nothing from our perspective changes she's still lost so there's no disruption.

Well no it's not why earhart disappeared. Like she says she finds objects of interest and the moment they got destroyed/disappeared, she then saves the object and brings it to the future. Leaving the past (and her future) intact as we still think earhart crashed like we always did. From her perspective after intervening with the ships fated destruction by those dark matter things she has to disappear them to her future otherwise her original timeline is altered and she and that future cease to exist. (it's not the worst but still a flimsy time travel concept.)

I feel like the brokers were the only ones with access to the timeline jumpline tech. As Prya said they discovered it and learned how to manipulate it. So it doesn't see like wide spread tech. What is interesting through is you should remember this episode for later episodes. Think about how things would have turned out if the Orville wasn't around. Like in the previous episode with the colony ship, if the Orville wasn't around those people would have flown into a star.

Taking Amelia Earhart would have been the same situation as the Orville. She died in a plane crash (wreckage never found), so the dealer went back to a few minutes before the crash, and snatched her & the plane.

What if the wreckage was never found BECAUSE it was taken into the distant future. What if she would even have survived and signaled rescuers somehow if she wasn't taken away at the last moment?

​@@Caffin8tor in our timeline, she didn't survive so they came to our timeline moments before she definitely wouldn't survive and snatched her. Thus minimally affecting the timeline like she didn't decompose in our timeline and there may not be any piece of her aircraft anywhere to be found. Not that it would otherwise have ever been found anyway, because of the remoteness. Wonder if they took Fred as well? 🤔

No the Union does not have teleporter tech. it exists in Universe, but only a few higher tech planets have the tech, like seen with the zoo episode. no cheap budget cuts for site to site movement and time flow of the episode.

If the wormhole is closed, then Pria didn't come back, and would not have saved the Orville from being destroyed... but then the Orville would have not closed the wormhole and Pria would have come back... but.... oh, these time travel paradoxes...

i hope they revisit this character for Season 4. But an alternate time line Pria, where the crew do not trust her and end up failing a mission because of their bias towards the alternate Pria from this episode.
