I was there when Scott announced it right before he went into another song. I was in the second row right in front of him. He sings very well. Scott said that in Jan or Feb of 2025 they were going to start filming.

The only sad thing about this news is that my late father isn't here to see it. My Dad was a massive Star Trek fan and was pleasantly surprised by The Orville, especially after he was let down by the new Kurtzman tripe. He was also a fan of Seth's work before Orville, and was surprised that he was able to pull it off. I believe Dad would've been happy to hear this news, I just wish he was here to watch the season when it premieres.

Scott Grimes saying something at an event isn't really an official announcement, like Disney/Hulu announcing it or Seth announcing it, but I hope it turns out to be true and there is an actual official announcement sometime soon. If they do start filming next year, it will still probably be 2026 until it actually debuts.
