I met these guys at their camper in Virginia in 1975 when I was a young Navy feller. I asked for their autograph, which they were gracious enough to sign. They asked me inside and offered me a cold drink and a bit of story telling. They didn't have to be that nice to an autograph seeking fan, but they were. They're top notch folks in my book.

My grandfather was Larry Richardson, who wrote this song. Good to know it's still going around.

Bobby Osborne claims he wrote it. Somebody's not telling the truth.

Considering they were working together in the Lonesome Pine Fiddlers at the time (1950), chances are they're both telling the truth.

I think this is my favorite Osborne Brothers tune. The musicians on this video take such wonderful breaks and Bobby's singing is phenomenal.

Really nice job on this video guys! A really fun song done really well. How many of us have felt this feeling in life? It's funny how we as people share the same experiences even though we come from different parts of the world. I love the intro! Great harmonies and instrumentals. All around good and nice clear pictures.

You would know MUCH better than me. My info came from writings of Dad's autobiography about You, Sonny, and Dad in the early days. I will make changes to my website about the Osborne Brothers and Ott Ginter in the early days. I would love to see you and RTX do "Pain In My Heart" again! Great to finally meet you at the Hometown Festival in Hayden this year. It was well worth the trip from Dayton. Any other info you (or Louise) could give me on the 1st Kitty recordings would be great. Thanks

OK Boj, you & me have Facebooked a couple times. When you talk to your Dad, could you check on his recollection of "Pain In My Heart" and "Now You Have My Name". I would like the timeline to be as accurate as possible on the website. Maybe check with Aunt Lou, too. Sorry I missed you in Hayden. Didn't see you around when I talked to your Dad. I long for the info on those early records. Everything I have is by research and my Dad's writings. Thanks!

Sorry, but you are wrong. The song was originally recorded by Lou Osborne and the Osbore family on Kitty records as "Now You Have My Name".( See the KZbin Video). The original tape was recorded in the Osborne family farm house on acetate tape in 1948. It was written by Otto Ginter, Louise Osborne, and Tommy Sutton. Bobby changed the name of the song to "Pain In My Heart" when he recorded it with the Lonesome Pine Fiddlers in 1951.

for anyone in here not familiar with the old south, reading the books by Basil Duke and Sam Watkins is essential. Duke the rich land owner, Watkins the poor man. both present vivid views of the souths true reality. they miss nothing. good and bad plainly described.

I don't know if there are any better fiddlers. Maybe just as good, but he sounds pretty good to me. If whatever else you say is true then I think he needs help and not condemnation!

I came to this video to see the Osbornes and NOT Blaine Sprouse. Take your anger somewhere else and stop casting your dark shadow, by association, over the Osborne Brothers.

Great vocals. I think this is my favorite Osbornes song. Where did all these good bands go? Now we mostly got a bunch of liberal wimps playing jazzgrass, wimpgrass and pansygrass. Having said that - FYI, check out "The Out Of Town Boys" who are still out there playin' it right.

@banjobgboy The fiddler IS (Elijah) Blaine Sprouse. An old friend who borrorwed $40,000 from us in 2008, repaid $1076 that year and dropped us--friends of 30 years. 4 weeks ago he sent us a check for $300 and then stopped payment on it...Talent? Yes. Class? None. His talent can never replace his lack of character and deceny...Nice guy? NOT! However his fiddling talent cannot be denied any more than his failure to repay a loan of gargantuan proportions! Google him. You might be surprised...
