Did they start out as a pop group than transition to ta rock type when they got older?
@robertmartinez29414 ай бұрын
@@Charlydx21 I think Andy Williams brought them to prominance in the late sixties singing barber shop quartet type of music, then when they saw the success of the Jackson 5, they modeled themselves after them, with songs like One Bad Apple. The rock part probably started when they were a little bit older, especially Donny. I just recently saw a video them performing/singing Yo Yo on I believe the Flip Wilson show. It is amazing, not only could they sing, but they could dance...great timing. They're lip syncing, but it's still a testament to their level of professionalism, the lip syncing really didn't matter. Sign of bygone era of talent.

I don't hear metal in this at all. Glam maybe, or an attempt at some hard rockin' funk, but not metal. The arrangement on the single had a horn section - definitely not metal.
@cazgerald94715 жыл бұрын
@Jim Doire If you're arguing to do away with genres altogether, I'm down with that. Genres are a marketing tool to segregate the market and sell more product. But if you're going to actually define music by what's commonly accepted, then this song ain't metal - it's significantly closer to funk or glam - metal wasn't even a defined genre when this song was released, Black Sabbath was just hitting the scene and nobody was even calling them metal at that time.

One of the most under rated albums of all time. Wayne's solo is just filthy!!! This is a great rock song.

Yeah; Wayne's tone is NASTY! And while we're at it, can we talk Donny's keyboard playing? Holy...he's nuts! I wasn't expecting something so unhinged. But damn!

My Mom got me this album for my 18th birthday. I was embarrassed. The Osmonds? Then, I listened to it and was blown away, especially with this song. I played it for my brother-in-law, not telling him who it was. He LOVED the song. Then, I told him it was the Osmonds. He played the song over and over. Still couldn't believe it was them.

Anyone see a resemblance between Wayne Osmond, the lead guitar player and a young Jimmy Page?

Me!!! A friend's band, Flipp, covered this tune and I just commented on the guitar player looking vaguely like a young Jimmy Page. Also the bass player looks like Peter Brady.

This was psychedelic and fun at the same time. I can guarantee that if you put this on and asked anyone who listens to music to identify the artist, they would never guess the Osmonds.

I only researched this song because Joe Elliott from Def Leppard mentioned it was a favorite when he was younger. I've been a metal lover and Utah native and never heard this before. A bit before my time. A screamin song.

I read that too! It is a pretty good tune for the time & band. I was born the year it came out but if I had been a teenager I would have loved it!

Their album “Crazy Horses” is outstanding. There is not a single dud on it. It receives high praise from experts, and most are metal and hard rock critics. I highly recommend listening to it in its entirety first time, and then play selected tracks at various times. The songs get better with age!

One of my favourite Osmonds songs and I loved them. It is surprising how many people don't realise the meaningful message behind the song either. I have told people to really listen or find the lyrics as what it was about is so true. Fab song by fab group absolutely love hearing this.
