This is very reminiscent of Grand Funk Railroad. They truly had some amazing songs. I've been discovering them as of late (2022) and I am amazed with my findings. I always thought of the Osmonds just "Donny and Marie". You know, just white bread family that sang plain songs that only conservative Mormons would like. But after stumbling first with One Bad Apple, Down the Lazy River, and my favorite song of theirs, Crazy Horses, I have to take off my hat to them. They truly were amazing.

Oh my golly! The Osmond Brothers rockin out like there's no tomorrow...love it! This song is on The Plan cd (album ?), and, in my opinion, all the songs on The Plan are just as awesome! Extra bonuses...Jay taking the lead and giving us a prime example why he was voted one of the top 10 drummers in the 70s! I could listen to him sing and drum all day (and im 73, not some young teenager). Thanks for sharing this video!

Loved the Osmonds since the 70's. Jay was always my fave. They're all so talented. Not to take anything away from Donny, but Merrill and Jay were my favorites on lead. So fun revisiting these songs. The Osmonds could rock!

Because the hard rock establishment that makes up TRARHOF sees them as squeaky clean bubblegummers, that's why! I just wish that someone would play them this song and THEN see if they still brush them off!!! I sent this KZbinr a copy of their Crazy Horses album (one you should check out). In Australia this was the A Side and the first time I heard it I loved it even before the song had finished. Such an underrated song and really should receive much more attention than it has. It's only in the last year I have discovered the Osmonds with this and Crazy Horses. I bought Yo Yo because I was curious about a song with that title. I then heard Crazy Horses and couldn't believe my ears. It was a great rocking tune. Unfortunately these days people align the Osmonds with that drippy Puppy Love stuff and forget they could rock out with songs like this.

I remember collecting my $3 allowance, and I went to buy The Plan at the PX in Mannheim, Germany. I loved that album. My favorite songs were I Believe, Crazy Horses, Let Me In.... As a group lead, I preferred Merrill; his voice was so different but balanced. And of course Donny; I had all his albums. When we returned to the USA in the mid-70s, my cousin took me to one of their concerts in Springfield, Illinois. That was the first time I had been to a concert. My dad even said then that they were one of the best. He said though that one thing against them in the industry view was that they are Mormons. I asked him what that? Never mind. But still, I like their music.
@Jessica_Roth Жыл бұрын
Merrill is an excellent singer…but I find myself preferring Jay's lead vocals, personally. Mind you, 36 hours ago, all I knew of them was "One Bad Apple" and "Puppy Love" (and that Donny & Marie theme tune), so all subject to change. I mean, I'm still reeling from hearing "Crazy Horses"…

Dare you to find an actual live “rock” performance (this is obviously mimed) by the Osmonds without a whole backing band of real musicians behind them. They played, but not proficiently enough to sound like their “rock” records, on which studio musicians played, or to sustain themselves alone on stage like a “real” band. Just facts.
@JerryTheVeganRockstar8 күн бұрын
Same for many bands then, and now. There wasn’t the technology yet for film and live audio to be broadcast quality then either. The Beach Boys had dozens of musicians on stage, and still do.
@XXjg_7 күн бұрын
@ The Beach Boys were really a recording project after they’re surfing days. And really a composition project of Brian Wilson. Very different story. But no; The Who, Zeppelin, Queen, Yes, B.O.C, Allman Bros, Skynrd, Grand Funk, Genesis, Deep Purple, and the thousands upon thousands of other real rock bands, then and now, an eternal list, don’t have a second band behind them playing the same instruments. You’re talking about large bands, but that list goes on and on, too, with Chicago, Sly and the Family, Blood, Sweat, and Tears, Santana… all real bands with real members who weren’t playing low in the mix because they weren’t top notch. Your reasoning is an excuse.
