The Other Boleyn Girl - Book review
The Other Boleyn Girl was written by English writer Philippa Gregory in 2001. This is a historical novel sets in the court of king Henry III at the early 16th century. This is a fascinating depiction of the (true) events which started as a plan to make one of the Boleyn girls the new king's mistress end ended up making a queen of the other.

It WAS very interesting, although I'm no expert - I don't know how accurate it is. I do know that Philipa Gregory takes her novels seriously enough to make sure there's a lot of research, however I did read that many historians were unhappy at her portrayal of the Boleyn sisters. After you read it, tell me what you think :)

TheBookWorm Im sure when Philippa Gregary is writing a book she uses lots of notes, so maybe it could be acurate. In the film how ever mary gives birth to a son and i dont know if king Henry even had a baby with mary!... Some of the writing can be changed and the producers of the film can be changed even more... so you would kinda get confused with what was real and what wasnt!.... But i still find it all very interesting! :)

TheBookWorm Oh rite, yeah that makes sence. Does it say about that in the book? what do you prefere the book or the film? because some times the book can be really good, then they turn it into a film and then it can be awful!! By the way.... Are you french...? If you dont mind me asking.

Catherine O'Connor I honestly don't remember the boom to the little details but I assume they acknowledge that. The movie was good but was missing a lot of Anne's evil. And I'm actually Israeli, but many think I'm French...

TheBookWorm Hahahaha in the film i think Ann was perhaps two faced because she wanted henry for herself! But i think shes was a very interesting person! Oh cool, i bet its nice in Isreal. i know someone whos from Isreal. Shes moved back there now to join her family. She used to live in Ireland. :) Where im from!

I am actually thinking of DNFing this book. For the ff. reasons: 1. I don't know what history this is based on 2. It deals with the topic that I generally doesn't like. Mistresses or something like that (IDK if that's the main thing) So I am looking for book reviews that might spark my interest of this book.

When you say you don't know on what history this is based on, do you mean you don't know if it's historically accurate? This book did get some critisicm for not being super accurate but the story is interesing and at least gives you a starting point to investigate into the court of Henry VIII.

TheBookWorm No. I’ve heard many critics say that. But I mean I don’t know where. I’m from Philippines so we do not study world history. I kinda have knowledge of other country’s history but is this based on England’s history? I really don’t know.

Well, here's your chance! Henry VIII was one of England's most famous (and notorious) kings, and he's most famous for having many wives (some of them he killed) and for starting the church of England. I think the novalisation of historical events is a great way to at least get you started if you want to learn more about world history (PS, I'm also not English and I didn't study any of this at school, I simply learned from books, movies and research).

TheBookWorm Thank you very much. I mean yes you’re right. It’s sounds interesting now. That I have a little background of who King Henry VIII is.

Completely. But if you want more info about the people - they were real, so I suppose you could do a historical research.
